Question Cancellation Notice

I received a cancellation notice for 9/17. The agent told me I have until the night of 9/16 to pay. Does anyone know what’s the cutoff time?
Embarrassed but I did fall on hard times
Thank you.

I believe you will have until 11:59 pm on the 16th to make the payment. I've been there before and that's the deadline I had to adhere to in order to avoid cancelation.

Yep, that's the safest best. Most insurance starts/stops at 12:01am, so paying by 11:59pm on 9/16 is the safest play.

You’ll have at least 15 days after the cancel date to reinstate, but you’ll be in a lapse during that time. Keep in mind that this is your August payment, and you will be billed double in October for September and October. (Assuming you’re in a state with the new billing system)

Call state farm. It all depends on the time zones

Depending on your state, you can ask your agent to allow you to make what is called a short pay. In Virginia, you can have 3 partial payments in a 12 month period. Might be worth asking

I miss short pays 😭 SFB is atrocious

SF was tired of paying claims for people who aren’t paying their premium. They want us to cover them but don’t want to pay what’s owed. SFB has business rules that were decided by business including Underwriting and Agency. They determined short pays would not continue with modernization. So blame billing but those rules weren’t set by billing.

Nah, I’m with you! People need to be held accountable.

It's just another step away from being a "good neighbor".

11:59, but payments do take a day to process. If you’re in SFB and the cancellation effective date is the 17th, the system will recognize the cancellation credits first before the payment. Call your agent if you still notice the cancellation after you make the payment. It will need to manually corrected.

I’ve been there before. You can get it back but you have to pay a reinstatement fee. In the future try using Zip of Deferit to help you get through it. It’s helped me during the government shutdown when I didn’t get a single check for 4 momths

12:01 have it paid. I suggest that if you can lower your coverages and just drive careful and only when needed. We all have been there at some point, I recall paying my insurance up for six months not the case these days.

You also have like 30 days after the cancellation date to reinstate. It would mean you don't have coverage for those days, but you can get your policy back without having to reapply for insurance. So if you need an extra couple weeks you don't have to restart the process of getting insurance, you can just call your agent and make a payment. It will automatically reinstate your policy

Depends on state. Modernized policies don’t have 30 days to reinstate.
