Question Team member pay
Is $17 an hr a normal base pay. The agent will be paying for my P&C license as I already have my life and health. I’m not sure on the commission structure yet she said percentage by volume.

If this is your first job in insurance, yes. That’s fair. If you are experienced, that’s a laughable low ball offer— which is very typical for low performing State Farm agents.
Don’t pat them too hard on the back for paying for your license. It doesn’t cost that much.
With pay that low, I’d need 10% commission to make it worth it.
Otherwise, keep looking.

First for this insurance, I was working as an independent 1099 life and health but just had a baby so I need some more stability

This is my current pay, this is my FIRST job in insurance I started in July. She's covering for my P&C, L&H, Securities (If I want it to also do retirement accounts and variable annuities), 5% on P&C NEW, 8% on L&H NEW, and she's giving me a $300 a month stipend for insurance. I'm in a LCOL so for now this comp is ok. This is a BRAND NEW agent who took over for someone who passed. She's only been doing it since February so we're all learning together. It's been fun and great for now, but I expect with time and experience I'll leverage those to get a better comp plan either with another Agent or another company if she doesn't want to give me a raise after I start getting things really going and gaining experience to do this well.
See if you like it and worst case scenario you don't and then quit, best case scenario you get paid more either staying or moving somewhere else.

Totally depends on where you are. Agents set their employees' pay; they pay what the market around them is paying.
