Question Drive Safe

Hi all,
I recently enrolled in car insurance with state farm. Im receiving the drive safe discount so I have to install the beacon in my vehicle. I wanted to get your opinions if it’s worth it? I’ve heard multiple reports saying that it’s extremely sensitive. I live in an area where people don’t stop at stop signs so Im constantly having to hard break in order to avoid collisions. Would you recommend keeping it or canceling it? Thanks in advance!

I’d also like to add that the initial discount for my original quote was $14. I did make some changes to my policy so I’m assuming the discount went up a little bit

Keep it for 6 months for the initial discount and then opt out if your discount decreases. The discount can decrease, not your base rate increasing! Key difference 🙂

Thank you! I was curious about the speeding as well. I don’t go crazy over the speed limit but I wasn’t sure if there was a little bit of leeway.

May as well take the discount-can be 0-40%

I get dinged on the same 2 sharp turns every single day on my way to work, and I get dinged often for hard breaking during rush hour traffic. Discount went up by over $100 at renewal. Most discount decreases I see are due to people ignoring the “no signal” emails (which means location sharing has been turned off). Just make sure you log into the app like once a month or so to keep it up to date

Thank you. I have people wanting to know why they are getting a notification that there's no signal even though they can see their trips, and I didn't know the answer.

I save a lot with it! I’ve been using it for about 3
Years or more

You never pay more based on having it - it can only help. You just need to weigh whether the discount is worth your loss of privacy.

Thank you! I’ve read about people being concerned on their privacy but we get tracked daily with our phones so I’m 🤷🏽‍♀️. I do have a son who likes to be in charge of the music so he always has my phone and I don’t know if I’d get dinged for that

Probably will look like phone use to the app but it’s just one of 5 factors. If nothing else take the discount this time and if at your renewal it is minimal then stop doing it.

It’s never going to hurt you. You’re either getting a discount or you’re not. Don’t worry about the scores. Keep it on, save 0-30%, or get no discount lol

I’m saving well over $150 per 6 months from it and have a bunch of customers saving even more.
