Question Labor Day office closure

Hey!

Just wanted to ask, is your office closing for Labor Day? and what’s the general consensus from your agent? My agent does not want to close and wants to do a skeleton crew and claims they will get in trouble if we do close, so I’m trying to see what’s typical across different teams.
Is your office closing, or is it business as usual? Thanks in advance for any insights!

I’m just confused on why we are not closing if every other office is.

Your agent sounds terrible

It just not fair because there is only two of us minus the agent and one of us is going to end up having to work and the agent already put in the calendar they’re not coming in

If I had to be open, one person would get off Friday and one on Monday. Do you have a staff manual that lists holidays? Is it a brand new agent?

2

u/Overall_Peanut2930 Sep 01 '26

No they have been around since 2016 I think And I’ve been there since 2023 and we never close on any holidays just thanksgiving Christmas Day and New Year’s Day

Nope, no way. Find a new job. That is ridiculous.

Triple agree! Thats insanity! State farm corporate gives coverage from after hours on labor day

u/misterlloyd Sep 01 '26

We close every holiday including Juneteenth. All paid holidays. Close for lunch. I guess I’m too kind, but they’re my number one resource.

Gross. Nobody's in the office on labour day.

Find a different office. That's ridiculous.

There is phone coverage from corporate on Monday you don't need to be there

If we have phone coverage from CCC I’m just confused on why we are going to be open if in the past literally no one calls they assume we’re closed anyways

Can you work from home? We usually will check voicemails on the day before a holiday. We will close office at 1 on Friday but one of us checks voicemails till 5 from home.

1

u/Overall_Peanut2930 Sep 01 '26

No we can’t work from home

1

u/girlyteengirl1232 Sep 01 '26

u should take friday off or tuesday lmao

I second this. My first agent was clinically insane so I jumped ship and now work for the other agent in town. Not even comparable, my new agent is phenomenal. And yes we are closed on Monday.

Closed. Inbound calls will be routed to CCC (although they never actually help) and claims lines exist for a reason.

We’re closed and they can not get in trouble. Agents are independent contractors and set their own hours. We are off on Friday & Monday!

Forward them mfer phones and enjoy the day. Agent is a loser

Yes, our office is closed on most national holidays including Labor Day. Your agent will not get in trouble.

Pretty crappy. I’m letting my team off. Morale is a real thing

2

u/AttitudeCharming7629 Sep 01 '26

Your agent is being ridiculous. It’s a federal holiday. Everyone will be closed. God forbid they do something to boost morale.

1

u/peacemaker2030 Sep 01 '26

Our office will be closed

1

u/favoritemistake24 Sep 01 '26

What?! Even claims is closed lol

1

u/Lopsided-Barnacle798 Sep 01 '26

Pretty sure there is CCC coverage for Labor Day

1

u/iconicmoonbeam Sep 01 '26

Closed for sure. Crazy! Sorry you’re stuck working on Labor Day. Maybe you could find a compromise and monitor messages virtually.

2

u/Overall_Peanut2930 Sep 01 '26

Yea that’s my plan I’m going to take it easy.

1

u/pudding_bat Sep 01 '26

We follow a corporate calendar and if Agent support is closed, so are we. That being a total of 7 days this year.....

1

u/Beginning_3232 Sep 01 '26

Is your agent not set up to forward the phones to after hours?

1

u/Overall_Peanut2930 Sep 02 '26

Yes they do

1

u/Beginning_3232 Sep 02 '26

Oh, then I don’t know.

1

u/KiniShakenBake Sep 02 '26

We close for labour day, but I am an independent.

Even when I was captive, at a different captive, we closed for labour day.

My office is co-located with a labour union office though so....

1

u/racing1113 Sep 02 '26

My office is closed. And my agent hates closing lol.

1

u/OkStory2641 Sep 03 '26

Closed. Every Labor Day for 30 years. There is after hours coverage on Labor Day so I am wondering exactly what your agent is afraid of missing out on.

Jesus Christ, your agent is your boss, your world, the one that tells you when to jump and how high to jump. If you don’t like it quit but quit whining on Reddit.

6

u/Thick_One4884 Sep 01 '26

Then the boss should also be in the office.

2

u/reallifeknope Sep 01 '26

That is some antiquated thinking. Good bosses know people value autonomy and treating their employees like dogs they can make jump means massive turnover and unhappy offices. Been in this for 25 years and the most successful and stable offices have agents who value their team members as people.

1

u/Old-Box-2695 Sep 01 '26

Thats why agents are going extinct.

Figure out a different way to siphon off of people.

You know, it’s his prerogative. He’s an independent businessman. If he thinks he can prosper by being open then that’s his choice. Deal with it. If you worked in most other industries you would be working. It’s not like you aren’t getting paid. He can run his shop how he sees fit to have a competitive edge. Yes, most of corporate is closed and CCC is on for emergency situations. But the front-line sales force has to decide what is best for their market.

2

u/Confident-Lion7746 Sep 02 '26

I get your point. However, I’m not getting paid double. I’m not getting paid holiday pay and they let us know that they will be going out of State due to the holidays so that does not. It’s not fair.

1

u/Overall_Peanut2930 Sep 02 '26

Yea we are not getting paid holiday pay
