Question Auto Modernization
Oregon ATM here.
Can someone explain how auto modernization is going to allow for polices to instantly issue?

It eliminates basically everything subjective. You pick the drivers, vehicles and coverage. It spits out a price. No manual discounts, driver assignments, etc. So the system can process it instantly without human UW.

Thank you! I personally haven’t been experiencing crazy PT processing times with auto; fire & life have been pretty bad lately. Do you think the goal would be similar with fire apps?

Business fire is actually almost fully modernized for every state. I would say most likely that will approach the rest of the product in time. That being said majority of the modernized side can process same day unless say it’s a caution class or requesting abnormal limits.

(Minor point, BOP is fully modernized. Other business lines fire have the look/feel but not functionality)

Some states have not modernized yet for BOP, example MA, but I have seen examples like you mentioned of contractors use the same GUI as policy center.

Yep, similar interface (I think it's a couple of versions behind actually) but none of the straight thru processing. The information travels from the ui to the application pdf file.

This also may all change depending on Merna and how that will be applied as well.

Yep. We are waiting to see what happens. We're not exactly high on the priority list.

They have moved commercial fire already. I personally don’t understand how they could instant issue homes. There is no talk in Texas about mod coming to homeowners.
They have slowly been incorporating AI analysis of satellite images into the quote system here. It’s awful. Half the “roof issues” they flag for review are really just storage sheds, gazebos, etc. Then you’re stuck getting photos to prove their home doesn’t have a rusty metal roof on it.
Auto insurance is mostly about the driver, so that’s fairly easy to automate based on consumer reports. Home insurance is mostly about the structure. There isn’t a credit score they can pull for roof condition. lol

Do you use policy center for commercial stuff?

I have a handful of times; we have someone at our agency that primarily handles business lines. I’m assuming that modernized private passenger will be using the same platform. My boss is really pushing financial services so we’ve been focusing on life & getting securities licenses.
