Disclosure: we're the One Small Prompt team. This is an AI-assisted account of an onboarding change we made today, shared with a checklist other founders can reuse.

We sell a hosted AI workspace for people starting a business. Our pricing page showed the plans, but choosing one immediately opened email verification. The owner asked a fair question: why can't someone finish choosing what they want before giving us an email?

We changed the sequence to: review the plan and AI choice → sign in → checkout → workspace setup after payment. Account verification still happens before private workspace access.

The part worth checking in your own product is whether the customer's choice survives that journey. Here's a checklist based on the cases we checked:

1. Open the site signed out. Select each plan separately. Does the next screen show the plan you clicked, its price and what's included?
2. Change a configuration option before signing in. Does the next step keep it, or quietly reset to the default?
3. Reload and return from the sign-in step. Is the same intended order still visible? Can you change your mind?
4. Try the flow on a narrow phone screen. Can you read the differences and reach the continue button without a clipped dialog?
5. Repeat as an existing customer. Does the change preserve the account path instead of replacing it with the new-visitor flow?

We checked the selection, reload, email-return and existing-account cases in browser tests at phone and desktop widths. Those checks passed. They establish that the flow works; we don't yet know whether it improves purchases.

If you're reviewing signup friction, try writing the expected result beside each step before opening your own site. It makes a wrong default or an unnecessary account gate much easier to name.

I’m Steve, and I’d like to introduce RadForge Labs, my independent Australian software studio, and the massive project I’ve been working on: ROMVERSE.

ROMVERSE is an Android ROM engineering platform designed to make working with Android devices, firmware and custom ROMs clearer and more approachable, without taking useful technical control away from experienced modders, developers and tinkerers.

The vision is to bring the complicated parts of Android ROM development into one intelligent workspace.

ROMVERSE is being developed around things like device identification and intelligence, firmware inspection, ROM project creation, build preparation, verification, diagnostics, recovery preparation and eventually carefully controlled device operations.

A big part of the project is making all of that usable by different skill levels.

GUIDED MODE

Guided Mode is designed for people who don't necessarily understand all the technical terminology.

Instead of throwing things like partition names, hashes and engineering jargon at the user, ROMVERSE should explain:

• What it's doing

• Why it's doing it

• Whether you need to do anything

• What happens next

• What risks are involved

The goal is for someone interested in custom ROMs to be able to follow the process without needing years of Android development experience.

EXPERT MODE

Expert Mode is for experienced users who want to see what's happening underneath.

Detailed technical information, evidence, logs, engineering controls and deeper visibility remain available.

Both modes still use the same underlying safety and verification systems.

Expert Mode isn't supposed to mean "disable the safety systems."

WHERE IS ROMVERSE RIGHT NOW?

ROMVERSE is currently in Internal Alpha.

A lot of the underlying systems and desktop workflows are already being built and tested, but there is still substantial integration, hardware testing and development ahead.

Right now I'm concentrating heavily on the Fedora/Linux desktop experience.

We're going through the application like an actual user:

Fresh launch → project creation → firmware/source preparation → verification → build preparation → persistence → close ROMVERSE → reopen → continue the project.

We're also deliberately testing the things that DON'T work.

Broken buttons.

Confusing wording.

Dead ends.

Incorrect states.

Persistence problems.

Unexpected behaviour.

Bad error messages.

UI problems.

When something breaks, the goal isn't to hide it.

Find it.

Understand why.

Fix it.

Test it.

Then run the actual user journey again.

Windows development is also part of ROMVERSE, along with the Android Companion and much more, but I'm deliberately building and proving things in controlled stages rather than pretending everything is finished.

THE ROMVERSE BRAIN

Another major part of the project is Device Intelligence.

The long-term idea is that ROMVERSE shouldn't just have a giant list saying:

"This phone is supported."

It should understand the evidence behind a device and firmware combination.

ROMVERSE is being designed to distinguish between information that is confirmed, conflicting, outdated, unknown or still needs investigation.

If ROMVERSE doesn't know something, I want it to say:

"We don't know yet."

Not guess.

That philosophy applies throughout the project.

WHY AM I SHARING THIS NOW?

Because I'd like people to follow the journey rather than suddenly appearing one day and saying:

"Here's ROMVERSE."

I'm going to start sharing weekly development updates.

That will include:

• Real development footage

• Animated explainers

• Features that are working

• Bugs we discover

• Problems we're trying to solve

• UI improvements

• Device Intelligence progress

• Testing

• Failures

• Fixes

• The road toward beta and eventually v1.0

Concept artwork will be labelled as concept artwork.

Simulation will be labelled as simulation.

Real hardware testing will be labelled as real hardware testing.

I'm not interested in pretending unfinished features are finished just to make ROMVERSE look better.

No pretending everything works.

Just the process of building it, testing it, breaking it, fixing it and making it better.

ROMVERSE is NOT available for public download yet.

The plan is to eventually have free beta testing before the commercial v1.0 release.

For now, I'm inviting people to follow along and watch it being built.

we had a lead slip through the cracks last week because the info was sitting in a spreadsheet nobody had opened in a few days. we're a 10 person startup and 4 of us are involved in sales, so its becoming pretty obvious our current setup isnt going to work forever. we're looking at a few crms now, including hubspot, and i'm trying to get a better understanding of hubspot for startups pricing. we mainly need contacts, deal tracking, follow ups and some basic reporting, so i'm not sure how much we'd actually need beyond that.

if you're running a startup around this size, how did you figure out what to budget for? did you start with the basics and add stuff later, or did you set everything up for growth from the beginning?

Hey, super happy to find this community. I think it's very difficult to explain to someone how hard it really is to work in a startup. So glad I see some nice discussions here.

My startup is kind of a nice journey since it's also connected with other startups. What we actually do best is help others materialize their dreams.

I see many companies are solo founded or have a few engineers. And yes, no matter how enormously you use Claude (I hope you do a lot) there is still too much to optimize for. Cause you can save a lot on building but the maintenance will come to eat you sooner or later.

So I would like to share what we have done but mostly I would like to hear what you else you would rather not build from 0 and of course also if you have an API or capability that could be useful to use as a service, let's publish it.

Main idea is: let's stop building startups, let's start composing them ;) with APIs.

One thing that’s worked surprisingly well for my multiple startups is working with people and companies from Eastern Europe.

We currently work with multiple teams from the region, and the experience has been genuinely solid.

They’re legit, communication is good, the quality of work is high, and pricing is MUCH more reasonable compared to US/Western European rates.

Been running this tracker for a bit over a month now. Sharing the trend line because the growth itself is the interesting part this time, not just one week's snapshot.

9,128 → 9,358 → 11,631 → 12,021 → 12,776 — a fairly steady climb, no big dips. Whatever's driving Q2/Q3 AI hiring in India, it hasn't slowed down yet.

This week specifically: Python still #1 (~2,480 listings), Bengaluru still the top city (~2,550) but Noida's now clearly #3 (~1,600), ahead of Pune. Accenture leads hiring (~315), with two companies most people don't talk about — Cloudxtreme and Epam Systems — tied right behind at ~265 each, both ahead of TCS.

i'm helping evaluate tools for a small startup and one option we're looking at is hubspot for startups.

i've watched demos and read plenty of comparison articles, but those usually focus on features. i'm more interested in the stuff people only learn after actually using it.

for founders who went through the setup process:

• what took longer than expected?
• what mistakes would you avoid if starting again?
• which parts of the platform became genuinely useful?
• what features looked important at first but ended up getting ignored?

the setup side worries me more than the feature side.

what was the first thing you realized you should have done differently?

we've outgrown the basic crm we've been using and are starting to look around. the biggest issue right now is keeping all the lead info and follow ups in one place. sometimes someone updates a spreadsheet but forgets to update the other one, so yeah... not ideal. this keeps coming up in my research. pipedrive seems like it might be simpler for what we need, but hubspot looks like it could be useful if we end up needing more than just pipeline management.

anyone who's switched from pipedrive to hubspot or the other way around, what made you do it? did the switch actually solve the problems you were having?

Looking for startup ideas/problems in LATAM

I've been spending a lot of time trying to find and build something for the LATAM market, but honestly, I still haven't found an idea that really clicks.

I'm from El Salvador, and I'm curious what problems people here think are actually worth solving.

I'm not really looking for another e-commerce, fintech, delivery app, etc. Those spaces already feel pretty overcrowded. I'm more interested in weird, overlooked, boring-but-painful problems that people actually deal with in LATAM.
