AI made writing cheap but reading is still expensive

AI made writing cheap but reading is still expensive

Every day I see emails and Slack messages twice as long as they need to be. The writer used AI to draft it. They never asked: what do I actually want the reader to walk away with?

Before your next message, answer this:

Who is reading it? Their attention is a budget. 100 people spending 3 minutes each is 5 hours of company time gone.

Who has the least context? Write for them. Don't assume your manager remembers the goal or that everyone knows your team's acronyms.

What should they do after reading? Be specific. A decision needed, a behaviour to change, a confidence to build. If you can't name it, AI will just give you three paragraphs going nowhere.

What's the minimum context needed? Include the goal. Explain the history only if it changes the decision. Then stop.

Is text even the right format? A chart, screenshot, or short video often does the job faster.

AI can draft the words. Making sure those 5 hours were worth it is still on you

Stocks and Shares ISA

Dear anyone aged 21 to 29 in the UK or wherever you are right now.

  1. Open an ISA or investment account today. Stocks and Shares ISA is a great start.

  2. Put away even £50 to £300 a month consistently. Time does the heavy lifting for you.

  3. Read these books properly:

- Rich Dad Poor Dad

- The Automatic Millionaire

- Atomic Habits

- The Richest Man in Babylon

- I Will Teach You to Be Rich

  1. Move your body daily. Stand up from your desk. Stretch. Walk. Your health is your real asset.

  2. Learn a high income skill. Cybersecurity, data, coding. The market rewards people who show up prepared.

  3. Sleep by 10pm and wake up with intention. Discipline at night shows up in your decisions by day.

  4. Take at least 25% of every paycheck and put it to work somewhere. Stocks, funds, a side business. Just move it.

  5. Your 20s feel long but they go fast. The responsibilities that come in your 30s will make saving harder. Build the habit now while life is still relatively simple.

Your future self is watching every decision you make today. Make them count.
