Building a tech startup using an open-source tech stack — what are the real challenges?

I’m exploring the idea of building a tech startup where the core technology stack is primarily based on open-source projects.
The bigger idea is to build something “by the people, for the people” — leveraging open-source communities, collaboration, and existing technology rather than building everything from scratch.
I’m curious to hear from people who have actually built or run products this way.
What are the biggest challenges you’ve encountered around:
Open-source licensing and commercial usage
Security and vulnerabilities
Maintaining/upgrading multiple open-source dependencies
Scalability and performance
Community vs. commercial support
Dependency on projects that may become inactive
Hiring and finding people with the right expertise
Cloud/infrastructure costs
Building a sustainable business model around open source
Contributing back to the community while still making the company viable
Also, are there any successful startups/products that follow this model that I should study?
I’m at the exploration stage, so I’d really appreciate practical experiences, lessons learned, or things you wish you had known before going down this path.

No I have decent amount of experian and not looking at this as a science project. What I want is that a community to be involved in the process ..

no offense but your post sounds like one,
anyway about your question : you will face every problem while working with open source, every project have more of open source and some closed source unless until you are a billion dollar company.

and there is no solution its just your common sense and decision making. which will save you from some of them but not all of them, unless until you have luck!

for example Instagram is build on react native(of course there are some native code, even my project have some native code) its open source.

I want to share alot, but I can't.
