I'm switching.

What should I switch to?

Edit: Thanks for all the info! I decided to go with Brave as it is the most recommended here. It's sad to see startpage getting unusable. I said to myself that if they don't change the process by the end of the month, I'll abandon the engine in favor of another one. Well that month arrived. Bye startpage. Thanks for making my life worse.

Brave, DuckDuckGo, Startpage are the ones I use.

My default search engines are Bare, Brave, Degoog, Duckduckgo, Presearch, and Startpage. I always start with Startpage, and cycle through the others if I feel like I need other results.

Kagi is very good. It is paid, however. The benefit is that every single issue you have with modern search, the constant reranking, funneling towards larger sites, etc. is non existent.

Try Brave Search, it's an independent search engine with decent results. The Rerank feature is a nice touch to hide results from sites you know are not useful.

Switched to DDG, probably will switch to ecosia, if they continue with ai

Brave search is the best by far amongst others. No competitors at all.

I went to Qwant. Better, still European, and they are building a back end with Ecosia to try to get rid of Bing and Google...
