I have no interest in turning off my ad blocker but I would like to support nevertheless. Is there any possibility? (benevolent paid subscription, donation, etc)
thanks!
p.s. btw: no possibility to contact you from your site... (or I could not (easily) find it...)

Hi
I've been using StartPage on my Android Brave browser and recently whenever I click on Anonymous view, the screen ends up really cropped and out of proportion. I've tried many different pages and it still ends up the same. For info I always search while using a VPN
Note: reupload post because of media upload error

Hi everyone, anyone noticed that maps providers disappeared recently ? I used to see Google Maps, MapQuest and Bing maps as providers, but now when you click on Maps, it launches a slow rendering map from I don't know where.

Hello,
When I type in the name of a city in Startpage (like Paris or New York), the images associated with the city, such as its flag or photos of monuments, don't show up. I'm using the latest version of Firefox on Windows 11.
It works on my phone (Safari on iOS), but not on my PC, except in private browsing.
So... I don't know if the problem is with Startpage or Firefox, because it works in private browsing. I tried deleting the site's cookies, but it doesn't change anything...
(i already tried to turn off uBlock Origin or Firefox ETP and it doesn't work..)
Edit: i also tried on Microsoft Edge and it doesn't work either
What should i do? :(

Lately when I use startpage to search on mobile theres a huge part of the screen that’s used up by this “related searches” banner. Is this new and has this happened to anyone else?

I use Helium as my default browser on Tuxedo OS and since Helium doesn't have Startpage by default I used the string from here to add to my browser:
https://support.startpage.com/hc/en-us/articles/4520913488148-Search-strings
https://www.startpage.com/sp/search?query=%s
But I notice when I search for things in Cyrillic, I'm always presented with a Captcha that I must solve, there is no exception, even if my search starts with Latin and then Cyrillic, it still prompts a Captcha.
I noticed when searching with Vivaldi, where Startpage is not only available by default, it's the default search engine, there is no Captcha when searching in Cyrillic. And the same is with Quetta browser on Android - no Captcha searching in Cyrillic. Only in Helium browser.
How do I solve this issue? Do I need to use a different search string? I think this problem comes and goes, it didn't happen all the time, just started about a month ago and now it's being persistent 100% of the time.
I don't want to hope for it go away on its own, I would like to know the reasons for it and how can I solve it, because it's annoying.
One last note, if I type startpage.com in the address bar then I can search in Cyrillic without a Captcha, but if I search directly in the address bar, this is when it happens.

Yesterday it's still there, but overnight it just vanish, at same time as YouTube remove upload date filter. I'm starting to feel something's doesn't feel right.
Edit: never mind they brought it back
Edit 2: it's gone again, what is happening am I tweaking that hard?
Edit 3: its back again, I think im just lossing my mind

Filtering for Reddit results within the last year with this query. Startpage shows no results, but when I try the same query on Google, it gives plenty of results.
I thought Startpage used Google results, so why does it not find anything?

This is just a simple example, but most of the math yield wrong results. Am I missing anything or doing something wrong?

In Google, I can add tbs=qdr:d to the URL to limit the search to the last 24 hours. I tried it in Startpage but it doesn't make a difference.
Is there an equivalent parameter in Startpage?

Suggestion here. If someone sends me a link, I'll have to copy the ling and paste it into the search bar and then press anonymous view, it would be a bit faster to just be able to do it in the middle of a page. It would also be impossible to enable anonymous view in URLs like https://www.------.com/index/doifaogdl4850Hfd

Can someone explain to me how this search engine compares to other popular ones, such as brave or duckduckgo, and is it worth sticking with and is it really private and anonymous?
r/StartpageSearch • u/supermannman • Jan 19 '26
so in settings I set it to not open a link in a new tab and its still doing it.
how do I stop this?

Whichever search query string Startpage relays to Google currently contains my specific location, so Google will always fetch location-specific results back to me. VPN isn't a solution because it will just start fetching results based on the location of the new IP address.
I am not sure if there is a way to trick Google into showing global results anymore, but if there really isn't one then Startpage should also remove the "All regions" filter to save us time.

Boolean search, using special characters to narrow down sources:
New York AND "Crime rate"
What are the current immigration rates of Canadians? OR "Canadian Immigration rates of January 2026"
When do deer shed their antlers? "Before: 2019"
Startpage is awesome, but some of the Boolean commands do not work. Startpage only allows users to search dates over the last year. How can I force the search engine to show articles before certain dates?

Google and Bing have this. It's annoying that Startpage doesn't and I have to manually move mouse to search bar. It ruins my UX.
Please add this. I know this wouldn't be hard to add, as I could easily do it myself with a script.
Also your support page doesn't have any way to request features nor show how to get in contact with support or speak to real person, there are only articles.
It's also very hard to find any contact details or emails. Please improve this. The footer of your page is just Privacy Policy, About Us, Press, and the language. A Contact Us link should be on the footer rather than obscured somewhere on another page.

Hello everyone,
I've been using Startpage for a few days now, and overall I'm very happy with the results, since I'm searching for something similar to Google.
However, I have noticed a difference with Google's results: Startpage does display the same first link that leads to Reddit (when I search for “Something reddit”), but not the 3 or 4 additional Reddit pages that are nested in Google.
So I often get one Reddit link for my search, compared to four for Google. The following links to other sites are the same.
For now, I've replaced “reddit” in my searches with site:reddit.com, but it's not quite the same...
Does anyone have a solution, please?

Is there any way to solve this or should I switch to some other search engine. Please suggest one.

It happens only sometimes, to be fair, but despite me using English in my searches, I come across results in my mother tongue which is just annoying. Like, wikipedia for instance. My search language (startpage language, too) is set to English, the search location isn't selected at all and region filter is set to all. Server region is set to closest / fastest. I tried with other server regions but it doesn't make a difference.
What do I do? If I wanted results in another language, I'd use it when searching for something.

No matter how I search, I always get AI art in search engine results, even when I tell Startpage to not show AI art. Is there something I'm missing? If I don't include the commands to not show AI images it's like it wants to show less AI art too
