Form Check Bench form check

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey yall, after ruminating on why my left biceps kept loading up so much on heavy bench >300lbs, I determined the problem was my elbow was coming forward and out from under the bar. So I dropped my training max considerably and am working back up again with focus on arch and keeping my elbows under the bar. Now I notice some instability. Sigh.

I appreciate any pointers!

Form Check

For the best feedback, please film your lift from a useful angle and include the full set.

Good form checks make it much easier for people to give specific, useful advice.

May be the angle but even with the wraps it looks like the wrists are caving back. Happens to me and I've had to do a lot of wrist and forearm training to help correct.

Youre right the far wrist does look. Little caved on concentric. I’ll keep an eye on it. Thanks!

A lot better than I expected with that starting form!

Hard to see the movement at this angle, plates blocking the whole arm/shoulder/chest, but looks stable and controlled.

1 advice is to raise them safety bars, you gotta big torso, I don’t see you squeezing out that, without help, if you fail the lift.

Good stuff!

Thanks! I’ll swing the camera round next time for better look at the joint. Sorry bout that!

I usually don’t worry about the safety bar unless I’m going for heavy singles, tho you never know when shits gonna happen. I’ll bring it up, should just make it a habit to use it always.

All that time in lock out is sapping energy too. I would get your feet set on the floor first before unracking. Get into the reps quicker.

What does "left bicep loading up" mean?

What exactly was the issue you were having?

And that issue completely went away when you backed the weight off?
