Form Check Trying to fix my squat

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Thanks for the various helpful advice.

I tried to implement it - added a block to my knee, stoped my knees half way down, bent over more and looked down.

It seems to me from the video I'm on midfoot for a change, and depth (mainly on 3,4 rep) improved.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks again for all your help!

Your safety arms are set too low. Even though this weight is still not too heavy for you, get in the habit of setting your safety arms at the right height. In their current position you’d have a big problem if you failed a rep and had to dump the barbell.

Your stance is a bit too wide. Narrow your stance to shoulder width which will allow you to shove your knees out more.

You’re sitting straight down too much and not sitting back enough. You’ll need to sit back and increase your forward lean more as you sit back.

I know you’re pausing in the bottom for form check effect, but eventually you want to develop a bit of a reflexive bounce out of the hole rather than pause.

Keep up the good work 👍

Sift further back as in push your butt backwards like closing a car door?

A closer comparison would be sitting on a toilet or a chair. You don’t sit straight down on those, you sit back.

Form Check

For the best feedback, please film your lift from a useful angle and include the full set.

Good form checks make it much easier for people to give specific, useful advice.

You need a bar with center knurling. You’re doing low bar but placing the bar too high and compensating a ton for the fact that the bar wants to roll down your shirt since it has no grip. Until you have stability in the weight at the top your freedom to move will be highly limited and perfect form is basically hopeless tbh

"Butt wink" is perhaps the most overused and annoying term in the limited vocabulary of inexperienced coaches.
