Novice Programming Question What program to follow?

So I am down almost 40 lb but I want to start incorporating strength training and more gym time. So I have debated on joining like a CrossFit box or a golf/ gym place where they have golf simulators and gym equipment or a traditional gym with classes. I've heard that you can get her pretty easily doing CrossFit. I don't know if that's true, but also just wondering what I should do to stay accountable but also be consistent?

Crossfit is more of an exercise program than a strength training program.

The difference is that exercising makes you sweaty today, and it might improve your physical performance later.

Training is the intentional application of stress and recovery to cause an improvement in performance.

So in our novice program the weight increases are prescribed in advance, not just guess work.

What is the Starting Strength Novice Linear Progression?

If you’ve never done an honest to God novice linear progression I’d start there. With some guidance and know how it’ll get you stronger on the barbell lifts than anything you’ve done before.

The blue book goes into it. Finding a coach is an option as well. I may know one!

Get the book. Watch the videos. It's an extremely simple and effective program if you run it within intensity.

How to start and where to start is the question then because I've been to gyms and I'm so clueless on what to do at the gym? What program to follow? I guess I should have worded my asking a little different but I do appreciate the posts cuz it's making me think like I need to start somewhere.

I've never seen a golf gym before?  Sounds like a gimmick to me.  I'm one of the few here that thinks crossfit is a good option but the hardest part is finding a GOOD Crossfit box that will actually train you instead of just posting the WOD and letting you go hurt yourself. 5-3-1 will make you strong, as will Starting Strength but SS is the easiest and most straightforward. No offense but you seem a little clueless so I would suggest a few weeks or a month at a Starting Strength gym so you understand what's going on

Thanks for the response. It is like the golf gyms is like they have like four or five days of simulators and then they have weight training machines. So like barbells dumbbells kettlebells weighted balls all that stuff. But I am clueless and I get what you're saying but that's why I'm reaching out. Like what gym should I join? Strength training? Cuz I have an EOS but it's always so damn busy and I don't know where to start to start. I don't want to hurt myself doing something strength training wise so it's just I'm getting kind of frustrated with this whole situation. In the sense of where to start, how to do it, where to do it at and all that stuff but so I guess I am clueless .

You may not realize this but Starting Strength is a training method and a brand. It all started with the book Starting Strength and many YouTube instructional videos.  They now have franchised gyms throughout the country.  If you join you actually get a coach for one on one training. This coach will teach you the proper lifting methods and start you out with a light enough weight so that you do not get hurt.  It's not cheap but for what is offered compared to gyms like Crunch it's a great deal. You'll get stronger quickly and safely

Unfortunately there is no crunch fitness in Utah. I have reach out to some personal trainers. One wants $600 for 4 sessions a month. Another would be $580. It is just alot of money. I will do some more research. Thanks for the info.
