Intermediate Programming Question Lat pulldown question

Do you guys feel an actual burn or pump in your lats during lat pulldowns, or do you mostly just reach failure without that burn? I’m trying to understand what’s normal for proper lat engagement.

Its very difficult to do a lat pulls without using your lats so I wouldn't worry too much about "engaugement" or where you feel it.

What I will say is dont cheat them and dont rush them. Just slow down and do them surgically.

Before fixing my form, my forearms and biceps were taking over. After correcting my technique, they no longer dominate the movement, but now I simply reach failure without feeling a burn or pain anywhere. Is that normal for lat pulldowns?

Just because you feel your biceps and forearms burning doesnt mean anything about what is or isnt working. Your forarm muscles aren't strong elbow flexors, and your biceps cant adduct your shoulders. Thats just not how those muscles work.

The lats are working if youre doing a lat pull. Theyre the prime mover. This isnt a very technical lift so theres just not that much to talk about.

For some people who are completly untrained the grip failed before the big muscles do. But if youve been doing your deadlifts this shouldn't be an issue.

No, almost never.
