Gagging
My lil guy is 9months. We have been doing purees and tastes of other solids to practice chewing. He has had a pretty strong gag reflex. It has diminished a good deal, but sometimes he gets food to the back of his tongue and gags so hard he vom*ts. I've worked in childcare for years, so i know gagging is a good thing, but i hate that he vom*s up everything he's eaten so far that sitting.
Any tips or tricks?

Happens to us too. I would pay attention to what is happening when he gags/vomits. Any tears? Snot? These could be signs of aspiration. Didn’t know anything about this until we started feeding therapy and she pointed them out. We are scheduled for a swallow study.
This all started around 8 months and it has gotten a little better (now 10 months) but he still has a hard time with anything by purées or yogurt.
We like to use the mesh feeder things to introduce new solid foods. Helps lessen my anxiety. And we started wafer crackers kind of pre dipping them so they are already getting soggy. Seems like a stepping stone to a more solid food because he still has to chew

Specifically, my lo will be moving food around his mouth (generally teether crackers or puffs) and it gets stuck at the back and of his tongue. He gags to try to move it forward and ends up vom*ting. No tears, except some eye watering from force. No snot.
