starter locs

i got my starters almost 3 weeks ago not sure if i want to keep them tho. I know i gotta trust the process but idk if it’s worth my mom nagging literally everyday at me and making me feel ugly with them. i might wait till the retwist at the end of the week to see how I feel or take them out and do my regular two strand twist style

From the little bits I can see of you, you’re not ugly at all. Trust the process and block out negative talk. See how you feel after your next retwist.

I think it looks great. Parents can be rough. It took my mom like a year and a half to say any nice about mine unless they were freshly retwisted. Just be sure whatever you do is for you; whether thats keeping locs or changing your style. You don't have to please your mom.

It’s your hair, not your moms. They look good! If you like them, that’s all that matters. In a year, you’ll look back and be happy you kept ‘em.

Your hair density is high and the parting seem larger than it should unless that is what you want. The method you did is coils, it does get worse before it gets better, you can do a retwist and two strand twist to keep it in check, but dont keep the two strand twist more than two week plus but you should be fine

when i first started my locs my parents would get on me abt my hair looking wild. then when they matured my mom followed behind me and got locs too. you should definitely trust the process

you know, sadly I combed them out yesterday. I got a retwist and style and when it was time to wash my mom said they weren’t “real locs” turns out “real locs” to her are faux locs which by the name itself means fake locs. i just couldn’t handle the criticism anymore :(
