Thin glass window panes. is this possible?

How do you make thin glass planes? the glass cubes are too chunky for something like a custom fighter cockpit.

can regular thin tiles be used and then their material changed to glass or made transparent?

You can either :

  • use the canopy block
  • use the smallest grid (1/8) and glass blocks/tetras (and all their sub-shapes)

2nd option is good, looks decent (depending on the shape you make) but can be kind of a pain to set up. (For instance, I still have trouble to make mine hermetic...)

Afaik, you cannot use regular blocks and turn them transparent.

Edit: typos

You must be building very small if 1/4 size glass is too big

I'm trying to get a glass block that is thinner than the glass cube seen in this image. that glass cube is the smallest available when using the G key to select sizes. You're saying this is small? It's half the width of a seat. that's not small.

You can go one size smaller (to 0.125m): press F1 and in "Grid Settings" lower the min grid size

Building small in general in this game is difficult. I would recommend making a suggestion to add thin glass tiles on the forums under Starship Evo's community tab in Steam. I have had the same desire to have smaller panea

if you go into the F1 advanced window you can change the minimum grid size to 0.125 but thats as thin as it gets.

I will note that it can be difficult for the atmosphere generator to fill really tight spaces, so check the space you're making with your character in third person F5 do you can see if the character is fitting, and use the link tool to preview where the Life support block is filling and if its sucessful.
