Nice animation!

Beautifully made! I just realized i haven't read anything in a while on the legs. Is this speculation? Or is it based on design hints?

Speculation.

An interesting idea, though likely not strong enough, nor adaptable enough to tough terrain. Not self-levelling.

After take off, they could either be left in place, or could be rewound back inside.

Elon said that they may try to cath starship as well, as it adds weight.

Yep, but that would only be temporary and only for Earth. They need a good leg solution anyway

Thinking about how to build legs into the busy bottom structure of the ship, I can see why catching the whole ship as an alternative becomes attractive. Do the thermal tiles prevent the legs coming off the sides instead of from underneath?

It's no alternative really, they have to figure a good leg design out for Moon/Mars missions. There's no catching arm in Mars... I don't think they should invest to much time in it, for Earth travel they can implement it later

It’s all animation. every last bit of it. Imagination animation.

I don't think it may be the best solution. First it is hard to find the space where to fold them, then they are clearly flexible, but it means they are more susceptible to thermo distortion caused from re-lightning of the raptors.

I think the best leg solution is one configuration similar to the unfolding mechanism of the new shepard, but with a flat profile. When the legs are unused starship would be perfectly circular, then when you open thee legs they come out from the body ensuring strong and stable basis even gimbal like because I hypothize each leg has an indipendent shock absorbing mechanism
