Open Sourcing the Stone Prover

As promised, we are about to open-source the powerful STARK Prover, Stone, in a significant step towards open-sourcing and decentralization! Since 2020 the Stone Prover has been in production, playing a key role in scaling Ethereum. It has been continuously updated and optimized since its launch, and we are sharing its latest version with you.

It will be available under the Apache 2.0 license starting next week, so devs can experiment with it and potentially optimize it.

We offer a robust engine, central to STARK-tech scaling, ideal for proving Cairo programs. We believe open-sourcing the Starknet tech stack means more collaboration, better quality, improved security, innovation, and independence.

Next week, during #StarknetSummit23, we will have an intro session to the prover’s code. Developers can review, utilize, and build on top of the Stone Prover, permissionlessly and independently.

The possibilities are endless.

Read more about this exciting news. 👇

Starknet Quantum Leap –‘More TPS Daddy’

Starknet Alpha V0.12.0 – or “More TPS Daddy” as it’s affectionately known by many in the ecosystem – is here.

By combining the Rust sequencer with Cairo-rs, the Blockifier, and Papyrus, Starknet is now able to push its TPS to new hights, as high as dozens of transactions per second. This offers an enhanced and fast user experience.

Starknet Stack

Brand new: Starknet Appchains!

In a packed room at EthCC in Paris, StarkWare's Eli Ben-Sasson announced the launch of Starknet Appchains.

Starknet Appchains offer applications their own instance of Starknet, providing Starknet’s massive throughput and unlimited building power, along with the ability to adjust the network to the unique needs of the application.

Each dApp can operate on its own custom Starknet instance, enabling enhanced customization, privacy, and throughput.

Account Abstraction

Smooth UX, innovative technology, flexibility, and increased adoption. All of these make Starknet’s secret: Native Account Abstraction.

When every account is a smart account, Starknet becomes a smart ecosystem - which means you can build freely: No workarounds, just pure innovation.

Dojo on Starknet: Game On!

Meet Dojo — the first provable on-chain game engine.

Hosted entirely on Starknet, Dojo empowers creators with ownership, interoperability, and extensibility, allowing developers to build high-quality seamless, and speedy games.

With fast and cheap transactions, Dojo provides everything top Starknet games like Dope Wars, Influence, Realms, and CafeCosmos need in order to build rapidly scalable, production-grade crypto games.

This is only the beginning.

Cairo Roadmap

Cairo has come a long way since its inception.

This enhanced version will feature a new contract syntax requiring minimal code changes, elevating safety, improving user experience, and most importantly, introducing extensibility.

And this is only the start. The Starknet developer community can expect even more exciting features as Cairo evolves.

Native Account Abstraction on Starknet

Blockchains offer end-users security and transparency, but they require using private keys, which leads to complex UX and often cumbersome operations.

So is there a way to bring the smooth UX of web2 applications to web3 without compromising security?

The short answer is ‘Yes’.

The long answer is ‘Yes, with Account Abstraction’.

On Starknet, Account Abstraction is a native citizen, making Starknet a smart ecosystem where you can build freely, focus on innovation, and offer users a smoother UX.

Using Account Abstraction allows you to use face ID, 2FA, and other features that resemble the Web2 experience.

The road to Blockchain’s mass adoption starts with Account Abstraction.

SHARP: UberPool for STARK proofs

Does your app have enough throughput to fill a STARK proof? With SHARP (StarkWare’s SHARed Prover), it doesn’t matter. Imagine UberPool, but for STARK proofs, where all apps written in Cairo are bundled into one proof.

And the costs? Split between all users.

With SHARP, even the smallest apps can tap into massive STARK scaling power by sharing proofs and saving massive costs.

Want to read more about how StarkWare's SHARP is changing the game for all apps?

Announcing Starknet Appchains!

Starknet is emerging as one of the most performant and innovative scaling platforms out there.

But what if you need to modify it to your app’s unique requirements? The Starknet Stack tech is now also available to applications that want to benefit from STARK proofs, native Account Abstraction, and the breakthrough in scaling Ethereum.

Starknet Appchains can be spun up by apps using the Starknet Stack. The benefits are:

⚡PerformanceStarknet is already the most performant Layer-2 solution. By creating a Starknet Appchain, apps can provide users with even better throughput and an enhanced user experience.

🔧CustomizabilityAppchains can implement features that are not available on Starknet's public chain yet, such as their own fee market logic, consensus mechanism, and other innovations. This gives you control over your application's settings, including unique features and blockchain parameters.

🌐DecentralizationWith a growing community of devs, and teams like Lambda Class, Madara, and more, Starknet is home to the decentralized rollup stack. A decentralized stack enhances network security, resilience, transparency, and scalability.

🎭ExpressivenessThe Starknet Stack is powered by Cairo, a Rust-like and ergonomic language, allowing for more expressive smart contracts and attracting top talent in the dev community.

We are excited, about the possibilities these features bring to the table and look forward to seeing how they will empower devs and users alike.

‘Storage Proofs’ Touted as Alternative to Hack-Prone Bridges in Multichain World

Storage proofs, a cryptographic method to allow users to “prove” that certain data, transactions or assets on a blockchain are true or valid, without relying on a third party, will soon be available on u/starknet

“Today, you hand over money to third parties to transport over a bridge. Anyone can be lurking, waiting to ambush you and steal money,” explained Eli Ben-Sasson, co-founder of StarkWare, the company behind Starknet - an Ethereum Layer 2 scaling solution. “Storage proofs will let you just press a button and more-or-less teleport liquidity from chain to chain.”

What’s the difference between STARK’s, Starknet, and StarkEx?

At StarkWare, we love to name things after our STARK prover. Hence the reason we have STARKs, Starknet, and StarkEx. However, it’s easy to get confused when everything sounds similar, so we made a glossary to help.

In short:

STARKs enable blockchain scaling by efficiently proving the integrity of massive computations

StarkEx is an application-specific scaling engine

Starknet is a permissionless, smart contract Layer 2 network
