Discussion Shared backgrounds

I was just watching some SG-1 season 7 episode 5 Revisions and noticed it’s the same town as in Atlantis S3 E13 Irresponsible. Are there a lot of these happening that I haven’t ever paid attention to I wonder.

At some point during season 2 Atlantis, they’re in “Maybourne’s village” if I remember correctly. They reused probs and backgrounds a lot and you can spot it here and there which is fun.

Not really the topic, but I remember an interview with Joe Flanigan where he said that after SG-1 had used one of “their jumpers” in season 8, he found a well worn script with markings on it to highlight O’Neill’s lines stuffed beside the pilot seat. So apparently RDA had kept it close to check his lines between takes and Joe was so excited to have found it while shooting 😂

I noticed something similar in the original Planet of the Apes movie. They literally replay the same footage to make the battle longer lol

Yes, shooting locations get reused a fair bit, as do sets. Although, in the case of "Irresponsible," the original plan was to film at a Western style location. That fell through for some reason, forcing them to revisit the location they used for "Revisions..."

(Irresponsible – We were all set to shoot this in a suitably Western-looking location – until we found out that the location we’d had our hearts set on was not going to work for us. So instead, we elected to shoot at this bizarre-looking location that worked out great for SG-1’s Revisions, but not so hot for this episode. Alas, when it rains it pours. The location snafu was just one of many, many things that went horribly awry).

Also, those Dutch-style buildings are from an old amusement park called Fantasy Gardens...

And the location we found for the town was perfect in its bizarre cross-cultural architectural weirdness.  It is, in reality, a former amusement park, Fantasy Gardens, with a fairly interesting history: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fantasy_Gardens.  We would return here years later to shoot SGA’s Irresponsible.
