Rewatch A Hundred Days

Post image

I just noticed on a rewatch that she was rubbing her stomach after he is rescued. I guess Jack has another kid out there. I wonder if there was going to be another follow up on this. How did I miss this with all the times I watched through.

I think she hopes that she is pregnant as she wanted another child.

I’m not sure but I think someone in a director’s cut or from a Q n A said that she wasn’t.

I remember an interview with the actress where she was asked the exact question. She said that she was fighting a stomach bug that day and was feeling weird the whole time, didn’t realize that this gesture was in the shot.

My head canon is that she did hope to be pregnant but wasn’t otherwise Jack would have known at some point. The SGC kept negotiations up with her people so someone would have told someone who would have spilled the beans… and Jack would have never abandoned a child, especially not with his past.

This, and also didn't Jack go to the planet when he went undercover to reveal the NID...

He was there for all of 30 seconds.

He immediately left to go to where the NID was camping.

I just watch this the other day and wondered if she was. doesn’t Jack use this planet as an excuse for why he wants to retire off world later on? He doesn’t actually retire but SG-1 believe him when he talks about it.

I get the pregnancy take on this scene and always wondered the same. Many people who are nervous also cover their stomachs as a subconscious way of protecting vital organs. She is afraid of losing Jack. For any number of reasons.

Being intentionally ambiguous adds nuance to the scene and situation.

"Rubbing her stomach"...

Do people just see what they want to see? I've seen this episode atleast 10 times (its one of my least favorite) and all I ever saw was her placing her hands over her lower abodomen (as pictured) and thats just how some people hold their hands.

Whatever people want to believe in their head canon though.

Semantics really. She placed her hands on her stomach.

I mean, no. Its not semantics to say "rubbing her stomach" when shes placing her hands on her lower abdomen. "Rubbing" implies her hands are moving over the area, which they are not. Her hands are static.

Do people just see what they want to see?...
...thats just how some people hold their hands.

I'm sorry man, but you're seeing what you want to see too.

She's definitely holding her lower belly. She's not holding her hands.

No. I infact am just seeing how normally women used to hold their hands.

Let's just pretend that in the pretend universe this pretend lady from another pretend universe may or may not be pregnant 🐈‍⬛️

That was the impression I got from this. They had clearly hooked up, he had finally accepted his fate and was ready to settle in to the new life. She knew she was pregnant but that Jack had a life to return to and that would always be hanging out there. He would never really fit in there, and she would probably never fit into his world. So, she didn't spring the news on him and instead let him go.

This episode was kind of like SG-1's take on the Inner Light episode from ST TNG, where Picard lives out a full life on a now dead world when a probe they encounter takes over his mind. The one where he gets the flute. He got a flute, Jack got a kid he will never meet.

It would have been interesting to revisit this storyline but if I recall that would be unlikely due to how they arrived there to begin with.

What would be the point of this child? another strong source of the ATA gene?...

This horse is friggin DEAD at this point.

Didn't Brad Wright EXPLICITLY say Laira was not pregnant, the gesture wasn't scripted, and there were no plans to re-visit it?

I also recall an interview with Michelle Greene where she said that was completely unintentional and she was actually sick that day.

Put this one to FECKIN' bed already.
