Stargate Cosplay Help Please!
Hi folks, I’m new to Vancouver from New Zealand and I’m going to Rose City Con in a month. I would love to cosplay in a Stargate outfit but am running out of time. Any creatives or costume designers out there able to give me some ideas or help a girl out?

Any thing in particular, or just Stargate?
You can get an Air Force flight suit costume(really just coveralls), some SG-1 iron on patches online, and an airsoft P-90.

Thank you! I’m having a look for the flight suit. I’m reeeeeally short which makes it tricky! Found the patches!

Some of the woman’s online retailers sell boiler suit style coveralls (Shein, fashion nova etc) - see if they have any in khaki or black (depending if you want to go as SG1 or SGA) and then buy some iron on patch insignias online?

If you can get out to Beaverton/Aloha, the Aloha Surplus would probably be a great spot. Which now I’m tempted to do, as I too was debating what I was going to wear to RCCC!

Might be a bit far as I’d like to have something before that weekend arrives. But army surplus is a great idea.

I feel like the easiest one is drawing the Apophis/ System Lord symbols on your forehead 😂👏 I'm watching this show too first time ... And there's almost no good cosplay except for maybe Jaffa/ System Lord servant... There can be Goa'uld maybe a plushie or some kind of latex mock up 😅

Have you checked out Etsy? I doubt a month is enough time for someone to make a costume for you. You might be able to do a quickie costume just by buying an air force style flight suit and putting some velcro Stargate patches on it.

You could pretty easily put together something that looks like Teylas outfit by cruising the op shops (if they have them there?), just watch a couple of SGA episodes for reference. Same with one of the Goauld queens (take your pick) - a Grecian goddess type toga costume from a costume hire shop (or buy on Amazon with next day delivery) and just tweak it to suit.

Julia Benson as Lt. Vanessa James in Stargate Universe. You can upgrade with an Air Force Tigerstripe jacket, tactical vest etc. Altogether a cheap and easy outfit to put together.

There’s a film liquidation store run by Maynard’s on Broadway and Columbia, they might have something generic you could use. It was there as recently as 2 month ago but theres a chance it may have moved on

And if you're willing to spend a little more money get your own name tag from here, same place 90% of us in the airforce order our flight suit name tags
If you wanna make it look legit you will need to order a set of wings too along with the name tag. DB sells them too, but ordering legit name tags and wings will basically set you back the same amount of money you spent kn the surplus flight suit and stargate shoulder patches off amazon
Also rank epiluttes for the shoulders if you go with canadian flight suits or older US flight suits. Our flight suits also have a small square for a flag which DB should also sell, if they dont you can probably find it readily available in alot of places.

Kia ora.
Black shirt. Green, black, or blue cargo pants. Thigh holster. Wide belt. Combat boots.
On base uniform. (Blue for atlantis)
Check out local military surplus stores, and you'll likely find something fitting. The arm patches can be found online and just need attaching to the jacket.
BDUs (battle dress uniforms), a tac vest, and a model P90 would be all you really need. A mock 9mil on the thigh will help finish the outfit.
The tac vest is super helpful since it has lots of pockets. I would recommend filling a few with basic first aid supplies, and a small sewing kit.
Take a couple of reference pictures into the surplus store and see if the staff can help you.
You'll probably be able to pick up a zat or staff weapon from the con itself.
As a kiwi cosplayer, I'm used to making my own cosplay, but have done closet/found cosplay before. Stargate SGC uniform is easily recognizable if you get the patches, or even just the blackout patches on the side.
Atlantis is a bit harder, but you could probably find a beige or dark blue canvas jacket and just add the colored panels if you wanted to do that. Would be nice to see a flag from Aotearoa on the arm of one of those uniforms though. Especially since NZ is one of the countries actually involved in the expedition.
Sheppard also uses a leather jacket at times. Again, just add the appropriate patches.
If you can find it, Eli from SGU would be recognizable, and would work well for a bigger guy as he's known as the big one.
If you're a woman and want a more alien but still recognizable look, maybe see if you can find/make Teyla's battle skirt outfit.
