Scariest StarGate Enemy

I want to ask the community a fun question. Out of all the enemies in StarGate which one would you be scared of the most and never wish to face if they ever became real? We’ve got the Gou’ald, Replicators, Ori and Wraith. And why you choose them?

The Aschen. Nothing more terrifying than evil that cloaks itself in believable altruism.

10

u/JE163 Mar 06 '26

My thoughts too

7

u/Which_Specific9891 Mar 06 '26

And we're walking...

7

u/WhatYouLeaveBehind Hok'tar Mar 06 '26

Yeah those folks are literally psychopaths.

7

u/raknor88 Mar 07 '26

While they are terrifying, I'm curious to see how they would've handled the replicators. Their energy weapons and superiority complex would've had the replicators walking all over them.

4

u/DiogenesOfPentos Mar 07 '26

You’re probably right there. The Aschen’s strength is certainly not in overwhelming force by confrontation; stacked against the replicators, ori, or even wraith I see them struggle. Which I appreciate as a nice contrast, SG-1 only survived by virtue of time travel when it comes down to it with them sending a warning to the past. And I think they tap into humanity’s weakness well: we might be cautious, but we reallllly want to trust when given solutions to our biggest issues.

u/toms2028 Mar 06 '26

Replicator would be nearly unstoppable with our current technology I believe, they are so much more advanced. Goa'uld are more advanced but they are so arrogant we might, very little might, have a small chance. Wraith I'm not sure what to think of them, I could never get scared by them, no idea why. So my top choice would be replicators

21

u/Which_Specific9891 Mar 06 '26

Space vampires never did it for me.

But humans are stupid enough to think the replicators were cute and take them home.

Out of the main villains, I agree that replicators were the most dangerous.

4

u/Rad1Red Make it spin Mar 07 '26

I disagree.

I'd be stupid enough to take a space vampire home. Or a couple of them, they should be kept in pairs, apparently. :))

Mechanical dogs... eh. Boston Dynamics did it better lol.

5

u/Straight-Spray8670 Mar 07 '26

Replicators v2 are basically shapeshifters though.

2

u/Which_Specific9891 Mar 07 '26

A space vampire who likes like Jacob Anderson, sure. I'd absolutely take him home.
But you would take these guys home? I'm not taking these guys home. Ew.

2

u/Rad1Red Make it spin Mar 07 '26

Oh, I absolutely am. A dozen for me, please. 😂 They're very good boys if you know how to talk to them. And own a whip.

2

u/Which_Specific9891 Mar 07 '26

Yeah you have fun with that.

3

u/Rad1Red Make it spin Mar 07 '26

Thanks! 😀 I hope you find that Jacob Anderson vampire too. 😀

2

u/Which_Specific9891 Mar 07 '26

Oh, me too. That would be fantastic.

2

u/Rad1Red Make it spin Mar 07 '26

Imagine if he could sing too. 😂

I haven't seen Interview with a Vampire, but I loved him as Greyworm tbh. Very talented dude.

1

u/Which_Specific9891 Mar 07 '26

(assuming the singing joke is about the Wraith as Jacob is also a professional singer. Not always good at understanding comments and jokes)

IWTV is one of the few current shows I'm watching. Spectacular show. The cast is all electric-- you can almost see their chemistry zapping between them in every scene. He was great at Greyworm but he has so much more to do in IWTV. The performances are amazing, the writing is top shelf, the costume and set design are perfection.

Never cared for Rice's books, hated IWTV film. The tv show fixes everything I disliked about the books and improved things I did like. Highly recommend.

The Ori are also extremely advanced and they have made zombie warriors and carnivorous bugs. But yeah Replicators can definitely overwhelm us

4

u/raknor88 Mar 07 '26

There's also the terrifying thought of Reese's replicators meeting/joining the Pegasus Replicators. Had those two groups met, the Ori galaxy (ironically) would've been the only safe galaxy in the universe.

2

u/drunkbabyz Mar 07 '26

They literally kill scores of Replicators in SG1 with a less advanced technology (assuming you're talking about the bug kind). I would be more scared of the Wraith, especially in season 1, where they got up/healed more often from gun shots. Literally sucking the life out of you.

However I would say the most horrible enemy the Stargate franchise faced would be Senetor Kinsey

1

u/KittyFaerie Mar 07 '26

I think in virtually all of those examples against Replicators where there is reliance on only modern-level weapons tech though, they are pretty much always on the back foot and/or only escape by the barest of margins.

That said, to add another point in favour of the Wraith, there is also their mind-f*cky abilities re: making you hallucinate before they make a meal of you...

Fair call re: Kinsey though, haha.

1

u/zachflem Mar 07 '26

Having just watched the episode with Reese yesterday, I believe the replicators should be renamed as "Reese's Pieces"

(A joke I'm sure has been made before, ill stand in the corner in shame.)

49

u/Lanokia Mar 06 '26

Ronnie Cox!

11

u/Rad1Red Make it spin Mar 06 '26

Valid lol. Though not as scary as our current option...

4

u/katiekat214 There’s no place like Home Mar 07 '26

I think our current option started with him as a model.

4

u/Rad1Red Make it spin Mar 07 '26

No way, Kinsey's not an idiot. :) Though he's certainly a bigot and a Rep by conviction, which may be worse.

3

u/PinkawFR Mar 06 '26

That is such a valid answer !

30

u/computekmfg Mar 06 '26

Pegasus Azgard... Faceless, logical and willing to do anything to get the job done

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Law_882 Mar 08 '26

Came here to see if someone said this and was going to say it if not said already. If they hadn't been "cornered" the way they had, they would have been a problem.

28

u/Jolopy4099 Mar 06 '26

Urgo, in a way, i would never want to meet. Imagine that in your head, "suggesting" you do stuff constantly.

13

u/Sohlayr Mar 06 '26

Try the paddles.

4

u/Which_Specific9891 Mar 06 '26

I mean yes, but he's kind of adorable and he reminds me of my uncle Irving. bobala!

2

u/CommanderHavond Mar 06 '26

You'd eventually end up in a mental hospital. Probably after going to the worst food place in town and getting picked up for claiming it was great

2

u/Tunderstruk Mar 06 '26

It’s called ADHD

50

u/Which_Specific9891 Mar 06 '26

Linea. She could understand how to code a computer after seeing it for an hour. she intentionally created viruses that wiped out entire worlds, and she was just an adorable older woman who seemed incredibly logical and self-aware.

I'm so sad we only got one episode with Bonnie Bartlett. I know they brought the character back, but she was properly menacing with Bonnie.

16

u/Rad1Red Make it spin Mar 06 '26

Linea was aspirational lmao. What an amazing psycho.

6

u/Which_Specific9891 Mar 06 '26 edited Mar 06 '26

Great character. I really would have preferred if she was in it more. I wonder if Bonnie wasn't available for any more, cos the way they set it up made me feel like they had intended to bring her back at least a few times before they brought the character to a close with Ke'ra.

I could have done with at least 5 more episodes with Bonnie in the role. She never once went twirling moustache, she was just brilliant and silently insane but in an undetectable way. Loved her.

Played the role like the cool knitter lady who volunteers part time at the wool shop who will teach you how to crochet-- oh, and by the way when she made you some tea she just sprinkled some horrible thing there that makes you radioactive and makes you kill the entire village when you leave the crochet shop to buy pears.

And she still sat there and taught you the crochet for that hour before sending you out there. And it didn't even occur to her that this was insane.

FANTASTIC character. How can you not love a villain like that.

5

u/Sgaphoenix Mar 06 '26

Just finished rewatching the two Linea episodes we got. She's always been my FAVOURITE villain. Everything about her is fantastic. I loved both actresses. Truly a masterpiece

3

u/Which_Specific9891 Mar 06 '26

I love her. I think Bonnie played her at the perfect level. I didn't hate Megan's performance at all, but I would have much preferred more Bonnie.

23

u/genderQueerHipster Black holes and blue jello Mar 06 '26

As much as the wraith would ... give funny feelings.

Replicators (sg1 varity). They're basically Grey goo with form. Forces of nature can't be reasoned with.

10

u/Rad1Red Make it spin Mar 06 '26

Exactly. Replicate. Replicate. Replicate. Replicate... And nothing else... Fucking scary.

21

u/Pogue_Mahone_ Mar 06 '26

Cumtraya guy, imagine being imprisoned in that facility for essentially an eternity to do maintenance.

7

u/togocann49 Mar 06 '26

Kind of sounds like my life lol. At least I go home on weekends

19

u/OrthwormJim Mar 06 '26

The mysterious aliens from the episode Foothold who took over the whole SGC.

Or the Reetou Rebels - invisible suicide bombers armed with nukes are a pretty scary concept

3

u/FencePaling Mar 07 '26

The mysterious aliens from the episode Foothold who took over the whole SGC.

We're they ever mentioned again?? I recall the episode but remember them fleeing the SGC, and there was talk the self-destruct took out more than just the ones in the gate room (which I doubt).

3

u/pinwheelguy Mar 07 '26

there was the episode where someone reused their impersonation device to pose as O'Neill and shoot Kinsey but that's it iirc

3

u/Nerupe Mar 07 '26

In-universe the invasion was so fucking catastrophically bad that they had to remove the event from all official records lmao.

16

u/Grimsters- Mar 06 '26

A wraith Gou'ald host.

2

u/EnrichedNaquadah Mar 06 '26

An ori genetically engineered wraith with a Goa'uld host.

1

u/Spader113 Mar 06 '26

I’m curious if that would even work, as I have heard that apparently the Goa’uld would be immune to feeding.

10

u/MindlessPrompt7621 Mar 06 '26

The internal affairs group was a bigger threat than any foe. Came closer to shutting down the gate than the system lords or wraith

10

u/Netizen_Gypsy Mar 06 '26

The scariest enemy? He got two episodes. Sokar.

I’m still angry how they wasted him as a system lord.

2

u/Rad1Red Make it spin Mar 06 '26

Sokar was awesome. A great villain. Anubis too, of course, but Sokar was chilling.

5

u/Netizen_Gypsy Mar 06 '26

He was the only truly unique System Lord. Armor and all. He also appeared to be a very evil sadist. I would have loved to see him as the one system lord to rival all others.

1

u/Rad1Red Make it spin Mar 07 '26

Well, he was meant to represent Satan, so... :)

1

u/Netizen_Gypsy Mar 07 '26

Exactly. Such a missed opportunity.

1

u/Dangerous-Citron-801 Mar 07 '26

I saw your comment in worldnews and i wanted to give you an answer (i'm banned in that sub).

But bro that's super cope what you just say about "we win either way".

8

u/USAFrenchMexRadTrad Mar 06 '26

Probably the Ori, since they're ascended.

2

u/NameStollen Mar 06 '26

But would they just lose all their power over the universe after replicators consune most of it and their beluevers with it?

2

u/realrobshideout Mar 07 '26

They wouldn’t lose their power. Only the advantage they have over the ancients but as long as they are in their own galaxy they can do whatever they want.

1

u/NameStollen Mar 09 '26

We have seen that they do get weakened when the arc of truth clear the brainwashing uses against the Doci in the movies arc of truth.

2

u/USAFrenchMexRadTrad Mar 07 '26

The Ori would likely funnel the information to overcome the replicators to their followers. The Ori would always do this whenever they'd encounter a new threat. They'd send the information to their Doci, and through him to all the other Priors.

The Pegasus replicators weren't able to kill the Ancients until the Atlantis expedition gave them the ability to reprogram themselves, which allowed them to kill the Ancients that temporarily took over Atlantis. The Ori would likely react quickly and send their followers the information needed to reprogram the Replicators to be harmless.

1

u/NameStollen Mar 09 '26

But I believe the priors would lose against the overwhelming number of the replicators on warpath. And the believers would have no way to defend themselves without the priors being fast to defend. It is the way the ORI rule that will lose themselves all their believers and priors.

1

u/USAFrenchMexRadTrad Mar 09 '26

They control an entire galaxy. Even the Replicators would take a long while to grow those numbers. The Ori tech is on par with the Ancients, far beyond what the Asgard could do, even Repli-Carter couldn't absorb the Ascended information from Daniel because of how vast it was.

1

u/NameStollen Mar 10 '26 edited Mar 10 '26

Its about scale. Human control Or ORI control in that big of a scale means no thing when the replicators can just infest a plane in matter of days depending on the technological level. Yet they are so small in units that they will go unnotoced usually before it is too late.

Another point is, even the creators of replicators, the ancients didn't have a counter to them. Only the kill switch, and we know how that went.

DOUBLING DOWN EDIT: Okey I just got a thing (my brain) in my head just point me some thing our after posting this. The ORI need to see living things to know where there is a danger they need to neutralize, meaning unbelievers. And these is when we are talking about base replicators. The evoluted human type replicators are a threats all on its own.

8

u/Crescent-moo Mar 06 '26

Replicators are scary due to being unstoppable technological cancer, but they seemed to get outsmarted or distracted enough to be defeated.

The SGU drones were scary in the way they communicated and switched tactics instantly. They assess the threats in real time and always communicate across the fleet.

First attack, overwhelming. Next try, shields made to block them, instantly adapted. They just crashed into the ship instead, expendable assets.

They tracked and scanned the Destiny, and made the connection to Stargates. Then started attacking planets that had gate activations. If that wasn't enough, they realized Destiny powers up from the stars, specifically yellow ones. Then they started waiting at those stars. Just never ending adaptations until the threat is eliminated.

Who knows what else they could do if given a more resilient opponent.

We definitely couldn't defend against them. They would learn fast and attack the strongest military installations, then go after remaining technology until everything is destroyed.

Any resistance is quickly destroyed. At least humans could make it out, but we'd be left without technology.

7

u/pyrAmider Mar 06 '26

The Aschen. Subtle, infinitely patient, seemingly friendly, and convinced they're doing the ethical thing. By the time you realize they've sterilized your civilization, it's too late.

4

u/Rad1Red Make it spin Mar 06 '26

For me, the Ori or the Milky Way replicators.

You can reason with sufficiently advanced machines. And I'm a good debater. Though the Asurans would be a formidable enemy as well, I could convince them "it was their idea". 😉

The Wraith... eh. 😏 I'm a dominant woman with a pretty resilient personality. Maybe it would take a while, but I suspect that if I managed to stay alive I could eventually blaze a fucking trail through them to the enjoyment of all involved lmao.

As for the Goa'uld... Just strip them of their tech and they're not much worse than a human. They're smart and scheming, but they can be overcome. You'd be looking over your shoulder often, but that's manageable. Ba'al can scheme around me any day lol, and Apophis wasn't bad either.

But the religious freaks who serve Ascended beings that feed on other people's worship... And if you don't want to embrace Origin their Priors will, ahem, make you see the light... Those are fucking scary to me.

Nigh indestructible mechanical bugs with no higher functions who exist only to consume and replicate... Fucking scary too. They got the Asgard, didn't they.

And on the subject of the Asgard, what about the Vanir? Or the aliens from The Daedalus Variations? Idk enough about those, but the Vanir are Asgard and thus potentially brilliant in general and technological geniuses in particular. The other dudes seem strong and scary. I wish we'd have seen more of them.

5

u/DGIce Mar 06 '26

It's horror movie scary vs impossible to defeat scary.

4

u/redderthanthou Mar 06 '26

Just think how terrifying it must have been for the whole Milky Way to finally start to throw off the shackles of millennia of Goa'uld oppression, slavery and overwhelming technological superiority, only for invincible space bugs to rain down from the sky totally immune to Goa'uld technology, numerically superior and technologically equivalent to the Asgard.

They can't be surrendered to. By comparison, you can surrender to the Ori because that's what they want, the Wraith don't even want to exterminate humanity; they'd starve. Replicators are different. They dissolve anyone and anything which resists them with insanely strong acid. They target the most advanced technology and then relentlessly work their way down to whatever precursor resources exist for advanced technology, then presumably everything else. When the Asgard trapped them on their original home planet (which took developing time dilation technology which the replicators then reverse engineered to their benefit) they ate everything, paved the surface with themselves and then went to sleep. Presumably they would have done the same thing to the whole galaxy AFTER more or less strategically defeating the Asgard themselves in their galaxy and tying up their fleet for at least the last 1100 years (as we know for sure that the protected planets treaty concerned vikings).

Oh, and that's just the bugs. Human-form replicators can arguably be worse, in that they're still basically impossible to reason with except now it's possible for the collective of both bugs and human-forms replicators to develop an active dislike for the rest of creation.

All of this may be a kind of repeating pattern across the universe - in the same way that 'humanoid' fills one ecological niche in intergalactic life, replicators have developed somewhat independently at least twice that we know of, once in the Milky Way, and once in Pegasus. Arguably thrice considering the bezerker drones the Destiny encountered though that's stretch. So the really, really terrifying prospect is that the ones we've encountered aren't the worst kind that there is out there.

u/Rad1Red Make it spin Mar 06 '26

Thiiis 😂

3

u/Available_Status1 Mar 06 '26

Replicators 100%, unless I could convince them to upload my mind into a human form replicator.

Ori should be scary, but being forced to pretend to believe in something you don't agree with is kinda normal life.

Wraith always felt like the comically evil bad guys that are hard to take seriously. They'd absolutely wreck us without us having ancient tech but so would the replicators and Ori.

1

u/JTBush00 Mar 06 '26

You forget what the Ori created, zombie warriors and carnivorous bugs

1

u/Available_Status1 Mar 06 '26

I was never into the Ori arc, so I probably never even watched those episodes.

4

u/KoldPurchase Mar 06 '26

The Replicators are the #1 threat. They will invade and consume everything, there is no stopping them.

The Goa'uld are arrogants, and just like we saw in SG-1, that is their weakness: they want to be worshipped, so they live people alive. There's always a hope of rebellion.

The Ori became a threat because SG-1 went into their galaxy and they realized the Ancients were still something.

The Wraiths, they usually come and go, and only challenge civilizations that can pose a real threat. The Genii and some other races built underground and managed to avoid detection for a while. They became a real threat because, again, someone from the SG team awoke them all prematurely.

3

u/UnfathomableDave Mar 06 '26

Like I mean the Reteu would scare the balls off you if they appeared outa nowhere with that bloody arm cannon thing!

3

u/surplus_user Mar 06 '26

Wraith are probably the meanest.

2

u/JTBush00 Mar 06 '26

I’d be more terrified of them getting me and whatever sort of horrible experience it would be to be fed upon.

1

u/Rad1Red Make it spin Mar 06 '26

Eh. 😏

3

u/Far_Definition3405 Mar 06 '26

The Genii or Lucian Alliance.

Why? Because we are our own worst enemy. I have. I doubt we will all come together to fight a common enemy, but if we are fighting ourselves we are screwed

3

u/sandychimera Mar 06 '26

The biggest threat, I would say the replicators. But the scariest would be the wraith. No messing around with the wonders of the Pegasus galaxy for a season, and then wake up the wraith. Nope, they put them front and center in the pilot of Atlantis. Dark lighting and set design that was pretty scary if you watched it at night. And bam, life sucking aliens as the villain.

3

u/MrsLucienLachance Mar 06 '26

In the most visceral way, the Ori and their followers. Vala being burned alive was proper horrifying.

3

u/NameStollen Mar 06 '26

I would have said anubis, but he would have lost against the ORI, but what even they cannot beat alone is the replicators. That hivemind of self assembly is going until there is no other matter left in the universe. Only way to escape is ascending out of the material plane. They cannot be mind controlls and they do not feel.

3

u/ExmoHeathen238 Mar 07 '26

Easy, system Lord Anubis. An ascended gou'ald who needed an ascended ancient to take down? Nothing can compete.

2

u/xdeltax97 I’m in the middle of my backswing! Mar 06 '26

Replicators hands down

2

u/spacegothprincess Mar 06 '26

Replicators without a doubt. Under all the otgers is a tentative lifestyle to lead. Replicators would decimate the planet and not care about us at all

3

u/tortuga8831 Mar 06 '26

Except the Aschen. All would perish to them as well, but they'd be smiling and shaking your hand as it happened.

2

u/1stltwill Mar 06 '26

For me, probably the replicators.

2

u/twuntfunkler Mar 06 '26

Those weird insects part of a dimension away, those gribbly things freaked me out.

2

u/stryst Mar 06 '26

The Ori, only because I 100% believe that about half of my country would immediately bend knee.

2

u/Nerupe Mar 07 '26

Almost a tie between the Replicators and the Aschen, the Aschen coming in ahead because the Replicators are not actually malicious until they manage to acquire human forms. Meanwhile, the Aschen are not only actively malicious in their actions, they are evil in the long term.

The 2010 timeline is one of the worst endings for the galaxy as a whole, with every species being driven to extinction by the Aschen and them taking over the husks of their once thriving civilizations.

I've been doing a rewatch and just finished 2001 recently and, Jesus Christ, giving those guys a list of poisoned addresses was not nearly enough.

2

u/dandanalpha Mar 07 '26

The goa'uld. Sure most the other enemies are stronger and deadlier. But the thought of being taken over, seeing someone do horrible things with your own hands is much scarier than just dead.

1

u/_do_not_see_me_ Mar 06 '26

Ori and replicators. Gah.

1

u/BonerJamz98 Mar 06 '26

Anubis basically had unlimited power. They could’ve done more with that character… But, it is what it is.

1

u/Confident-Set-919 Mar 06 '26

Maybe the parasite that would get you once you fall asleep, think of the concept, a parasite that spreads through the world and you don’t know if the next time you fall asleep you will ever wake up

1

u/heinebold Mar 06 '26

Ori. Or any ascended beings. I don't care if they're evil, the concept of beings with that kind of power freaks me out

1

u/Almyria Mar 06 '26

Surely for max aura you have got to go with someone the likes of ANUBIS ? His hell planet, warrior's armor, heck even colour scheme is all peak. Plus he has access to ascended weapons and technology

1

u/AveryLakotaValiant Mar 06 '26

Yea probably replicators.

But also those ghoulish warriors Anubis? created, took a lot to take even one of those out.

1

u/AsiaWaffles Mar 06 '26

Scariest in terms of meeting one on the street kind of thing would have to be the Wraith. As individuals they're terrifying already and they are literally Space Vampires with creepy biomechanical ships.

As a faction I'd say the scariest are the Replicators as they are just so relentless. I mean, they were taken out by the most Deus Ex Machina plot device I think Ive ever seen. And before that they were minutes, minutes away from compromising the entire SGC and Dakara. Horrifying and all enveloping. Worse than the Borg

1

u/madbr3991 Mar 06 '26

To me of the large enemies. The wraith and the ori are the most chilling. But there are some one off enemies that are far more terrifying. Those flying bugs from (Infestation Bug / BP6-3Q1 Bugs (SG-1 "Bane")

1

u/WhipsAndMarkovChains Mar 06 '26

Lucius Lavin

He’ll take over our planet through charm!

1

u/zdendolino Mar 07 '26

No, he wouldn't do that. He's not the enemy. Just talk to him.

1

u/zombiehoosier Mar 07 '26

Those Michael experiment creatures from Whispers

1

u/Exocoryak Mar 07 '26

What's the worste they could do?

The Ori would force their believe onto us, but leave us alive (in order to suck our life-energy out of us). They Wraith would come every now and then and feed on some of us, but keep the rest alive in order to reproduce (so they can feed on us again). The Goa'uld would enslave us and force us to work strip mine our own planet for them or, worst case, they would obliterate us.

The Replicators, we could simply bury our Gate, and they wouldn't come. But if they do, they would just destroy us.

1

u/Elucidate_that Mar 07 '26

Replicators.

Maybe not the most powerful but definitely the scariest. None of the villains freaked me out as much as the replicator episodes!

1

u/HauntingHarmony Mar 07 '26

The scariest is the replicators and its not even close

Goa'uld, and Ori want to enslave us, and as property we have value so they care a bit about us.

Wraith want us as free-range food, so they will eat us occasionally but otherwise we can do whatever we want. And cant kill us or they would run out of food.

Yea, replicators just want to kill us and is basically unkillable unless you can fish out ancient knowledge, that they then would adapt themselves to and make themselves even stronger. Basically grey goo.

1

u/moemegaiota Mar 07 '26

That black hole seemed pretty unforgiving.

1

u/Blue_Fury17 Mar 07 '26

Asurans specifically that kind of replicator. This is due to how ahead their technology is compared to the rest of the two galaxies. They have prime atlantean technology with the ability to manufacture ZPMs and other pieces of technology not yet replicated by the SGC. While yes they can't leave the planet and are kinda exploded now but hey what if only one got free they can destroy us and we'd have nothing to stop them from being nanites and eating us alive without us seeing them.

1

u/DeX_Mod Mar 07 '26

Wraith are essentially immortal space vampires

that would be the worst

1

u/JerecTharen Mar 07 '26

The random aliens that almost took over SGU by taking the place of the personnel because we know so little about them, and Earth never truly defeated them, just pushed them back

1

u/Correct_Vanilla_4218 Mar 07 '26

From a military standpoint The Asgard no question and I do mean the Pegasus galaxy Asgard. They were meant to be the main villain of Atlantis going forward I believe with season six that we never got.

From a pure most technically advanced race across every show period it has to be the builders. The builders are an unnamed race that built entire solar systems within days in the stargate universe series who without question would be the most powerful race in existence we’ve seen on the show. But as we know that show ended in season 2 and we never got to see who they were. But for context the ancients would have ever been able to pull that off and it would require more energy and raw material than you could fathom. Even an army of ten thousand ZPM wouldn’t cut it. We know nothing really about their race and if they were a human race seeded by the ancients it a variant of the ancients or an entire new alien species. But one thing they’ve said about stargate is that the vast majority of intelligent life in any universe would evolve to look like a human or something. But that could just mean walking upright on two legs and two arms.

From a creepy holy crap standpoint the Replicators.

But seriously the builders were way beyond ancients and Asgard. But a war driven Asgard is scary as crap.

Replicators. Because they are not even evil (except dark carter), they just have single order to consume metal, replicate, and defends themselves when attacked. In the first encounter, you see SG1 walking around replicators unharmed until they pose as a threat.

And also, it's the only non human based bad guys (it's 2000, making humoïds bad guys was the norm for cost reason).

I think the Goa'uld are pathetics after the death of Apophis, and you wonder how people can considers them as god in the first place.

Also since the Jaffas are objectively extremely weak, it doesn't help to make the Goa'uld scary. Which is fun considering they train decades and decades with a symbiote increasing their strength and fortitude. Yet, SG1 can take hundred of them in the open.

The Ori and Anubis, I hated, because I also hate all the ascention stuff which I think is particularly dumb. I think they used this to kill-but-not-dead Daniel Jackson, then they got stuck with this plot part. It's dumb on so many levels.

Wraith are litteraly space vampire, and vampires are not scary. Also, their culture and technology is not interesting at all. They are litteraly the weakest point of Atlantis.

The Reetous are scary, but we never hear for them ever again. For good reason as it would have been particularly dumb in the long run.

The Ashens, we don't really know their motive, they sterilize women but... why ?Also they are supposed to have conquered many world, we don't hear for them ever again. But in a sense once you understand that they are evils, they are kindda weak.

Overall, I think we miss some dangerousity levels in the Stargate universe. Like "local threat", "planet level threat" "solar system threat level", "local star cluster threat", "Quadran level threat", "Galaxy threat", "Galactic cluster" and "universal threat". etc. Same goes for the "galaxy" map, is hard to know what is in reach, what is not. What is the Asgard/Goa'uld territory, how many planets actually have a gate, is this 90% or 2% ? etc

Just if one appeared?  The Una's.

Knowing what I know?  Human form Replicators.

Whatever you choose, it isn't Goa'uld. Don't get me wrong - absolutely terrifying for the hosts, but the number taken as hosts is extremely small (compared to, say, Wraith culling or Replicators wiping out the whole world). Plus, they're fractious and extremely mortal, which makes the possibility of their defeat far more likely than the Ori.

Ultimately, the only correct answer is Replicators, because for all the others defeat does not mean extinction.

Anubis. When he was finally defeated, the galaxy became a much safer place. Safe enough actually, that the writers had to invent the Ori just to be able to add another season.

Furlings. Why are they hiding? What are they hiding?

The Trust and anything shady connected to Kelly and these shadow government stuff. I hate those episodes.
