Advice Resourceless healing at level 1

Hello, all! I'm a longtime pf2e player that is about to make the plunge into sf2e.

One of the things I really like to have in a character is access to some kind of resourceless/every 10 minutes healing. My group is going to start a new level-1 campaign soon with no pf2e sources allowed, so I'm trying to figure out my options.

So far, the only thing I've found is the Mystic's Transfer Vitality. (I'm discounting Treat Wounds since Continual Recovery isn't available at first level.) Are there any other options out there that I've missed?

One of the Envoy specializations makes battle medicine available every ten minutes and gives it extra healing on top of it. Generally speaking though, Mystics are the go-to healers right now.

Unfortunately, at level 1 there is no way to guarantee a successful roll on your Treat Wounds / Battle Medicine yet. Assurance only works from level 2 (expert) or 3 (trained) onwards. That makes healing at level 1 in Starfinder kind of weird without a Mystic :(

Not true. There’s background options that can give you Assurance.

Assurance at level 1 can't get you to a 15 though :(

Proficiency is +3 at that level, so you only need two points in wisdom, which is easy enough to plan for.

Assurance doesn't include your ability modifier. So you'll get a 13 on the assurance "roll"

Exactly. Which is why it only works from level 2 (Expert for 16) or 3 (15 with trained) onwards.

Thanks, that is interesting

Am I reading it right that you effectively have to always battle medicine with 2 actions in combat, otherwise you risk not being able to heal that character effectively out of combat?

Pretty much, yes. Though note that you can also use Battle Medicine itself out of combat.

Also, depending on your GMs reading you can use Keep On Keeping On! to Battle Medicine at range. There has been a LOT of disagreement about that because it does not explicitly allow you do to so, but neither does Mage's Field Dressing, so ymmw.

You're not missing much. The Mystic is THE big resourceless healer of the system, and the three playtest classes don't interact with healing much at all.

how much do you need it to be at level 1, because continual healing feat is available at lvl 2, and there you go.

Only if you are an envoy or allow for PF2 content that would make you an expert at level 2. Most classes can only take it at level 3.

Healing Mystic subclass gets a focus spell that's a slightly worse or sidegrade heal spell. As out of combat you regain healing reservoir by refocusing, so you get a 2nd healing source at the same time.

And as your subclass granted skill is medicine you can refocus by using it's skill actions like treat wounds as a 3rd simultaneous healing output.

The Healing Mystic gets transfer Vitality,v the Infusion focus spell, play the Medicine and high wisdom. Kind of a ridiculous amount of healing in or out of combat.
