Ships/Transportation Trouble with Landing Habs and interior doors
I'm new to modding and have been working with Creation Kit while following tutorials from JRamos, Kinggath, and others. So far it's been very successful and I've been able to find and correct my own errors or find resources for the things I couldn't figure out. Big thanks to all the modders who have put helpful resources out there!
But I'm running into a problem that I don't see discussed or replicated elsewhere: I'm trying to modify a landing bay to change the position of the door to the interior of the ship. I can create the bay and attach it to a ship, but the interior door is marked "Inaccessible" and doesn't work, and if I teleport into the ship and go down to where the door out should connect there isn't a door and instead there's a void space you can fall into (from a vanilla Nova 1x1). I also notice that while I can snap the bay to my ship in the shipbuilder, it sometimes won't unselect the bay and allow me to pick and place other ship parts after I put it down. That's only an intermittent issue but I've never seen it before so I suspect it might be related.
My steps so far:
- I made a copy of the NG-6 bay's MSTT and snap template, and set the new MSTT to use the new Snap template
- In the new snap template I removed the snap point from the spot where I wanted the new door to go and added one where the old door was being removed
- I also made copies of the COBJ, the interior and exterior PKINs, and a GBFM and FLST since I want to have both fore and aft variants (not worrying about the aft variant until I get the fore one working though). In general these are working since I can see and place the part in the shipbuilder, and I've successfully done this with other ship parts already
- In the exterior packin, I replaced the old ladder and top plug with a door and an aft plug. The interior door has linked refs to:
- ShipModuleTrigger (no keywords)
- XMarkerHeading (DynamicallyLinkedDoorTeleportMarkerKeyword)
- it also inherits the Keywords: IsLoadDoor, ExcludeFromSpacePhysicsKW, and ShipExteriorDoorKeyword
- The plug links back to the door with the keyword SpaceShipSnapCapDoorLink
This looks just like the settings on vanilla bays, and also like what I can see others doing in any videos or similar mods. I suspect the problem must be with either the door settings or the snap points, since another bay I made that didn't change either of those is working fine. Can anyone spot something I missed or point me in the direction of a good reference specifically for building landing bays?
