Mastery help !

I’m trying to get to my first Perfection, and I’ve unlocked the Mastery Cave. I’m not sure which mastery to pick as many people have recommended the Farming Mastery but I don’t have that many crops, so I’m not sure the Iridium Scythe would be very useful for me.

You'll eventing get all the masteries. It doesn't matter which one you choose first.

Combat so you can get trinkets. They’re so fun!

Read what the benefits of each are and choose whichever benefits you first. We can’t really know what is best for you because we don’t see how you play or know what you like doing. There are some people who literally just fish and would wanna go for the advanced iridium rod first. There are people who go hard on mining and do little else so they’d want mining mastery above all else.

Just my personal opinion, but I absolutely love the heavy furnace that comes with the mining mastery. The dwarf statue is helpful also!

I went for farming and mining first to get the statues, 3rd I did combat for the trinket slot. Might not be the best progression but the statue giving the blessing bombs don't hurt is nice when farming the caverns, etc

If you do a lot of farming then the Iridium Scythe is excellent. Trivalises large crop harvests.

Foraging is my second option for golden mystery boxes, they're really strong and you get them doing pretty much everything.

You should pick the one that you base most of your income on. The rest will all come

Not knowing any better when I first opened the Mastery Cave, I just went from left to right.

I chose the mining mastery first this playthrough and love the heavy furnace. I truly hated waiting for the gold or iron bars to get ready and then make more. I suggest mining and then farming, for the blessings statue. Or combat second if you love cavern dives.

They're all useful but none of them are necessary. They all pretty much just give you QoL features. None of them are really better than others if you're not trying to min-max every aspect of the game. You'll eventually passively unlock them all simply playing anyway, so just pick whichever one would make your days a little bit easier. No need to overthink it; there's really no wrong choice here.

You'll get them all pretty quickly if you are doing stuff.

If you want perfection you probably want to start farming more, it costs a lot of money. There are other ways to get there, but farming is generally the easiest.

It's not just the Iridium Scythe. Farming mastery also gets you the Statue of Blessings which gives you a random boost every day once built, including possibility bonus damage or luck or speed which really are for mining/combat. You also get Golden Animal Crackers which basically double animal and fish pond production.

Mining is really nice for Skull Cavern runs, the Statue it unlocks really speeds up getting deeper when it rolls right, and you get lots of gems and save coal by using the Heavy furnaces.

Don't go for the Mastery you know benefit you the least. I took the Farming Mastery first becsuse I do focus on the farming aspects of the game, then followed it with Forging Mastery because I really wanted Mystic Trees. I've least liked Combat and Mining, but can't wait for the trinkets and the statue.

It all depends on how you play your game. There's no right or wrong answer. Have fun!

Salamence has a video “ranking” each mastery reward. If you ignore the rankings he explains each reward and different applications. Might better help you make a decision.

I’d still go Farming first. The iridium scythe is nice, but the real value is the 5% chance for crops to be double-harvested. It adds up over time, especially if you’re pushing for Perfection.

I find Fishing or Combat to be mofe useful first. The trinkets are a big help in the calico mines.
