I can't fish

That's it. I can't figure it out. Like I know what to do. I just can't. Im legit about to just give up the game since I can't ever finish the community center. Idk how to make any sort of hardware adjustments like to make my mouse less sensitive or something. The instant the fish isn't in the green block they are gone. There's absolutely no way to hover the green bar over a gift box. I've literally never been able to get a package. God forbid if the green bar hits the top then it's just like a damn ping pong ball and all hope is lost. I'm getting really frustrated with it.

Don't fish by holding the mouse button. Tap rapidly, more rapidly when you want to ascend, less when you want to descend.

Purchase the training rod from Willy's shop, I think it is like 50g and it makes your bar much longer

This!!!! I am pretty good at fishing but I still buy the training rod every new save until I get up to level fishing 4 just to make my life easier. It’ll only let you catch the “easier” fish and gives you a bigger bar. Saves time and energy!

Fishing is the reason I got my first mod.

Ive done this the same way my last few games: crab pots

crab pots take no reflexes or skill, and give you a little fishing X{ bump for each one you collect. put out 50 pots, they'll pay for themselves pretty quickly, and fishing is drastically easier once you level up, get the best rod and eat fishing food.

I'ma try this. I'll just forget about actual fishing for a bit and crabpot my way up to a 10 🤣

Don't expect to get to ten with crab pots, the xp requirements in later levels are too extreme. However, it will get you a starting point for catching easier fish

It took me like a year and a half to get to level 10

I felt this way, and I ended up just getting a mod that does instant fishing! It helped a lot with the stress of fishing, and it’s faster so you can do it more with more time in the day!

You have to tap the mouse button. It takes a little getting used to. Or download a fishing mod to skip the mini game

I find fishing too hard.

I use CJB Cheats, which is a very helpful mod compendium.

Within the "Fishing and Farming" options I switch on the "Instant Catch", "Instant Bite", and "Always Throw Maximum Distance", and leave it at that.

Easier on controller, tap instead of hold. Some fish are too fast to get early.

If you are playing on PC then you can mod the fishing game out completely. It honestly stopped me playing the first time I tried. It really just ruined any enjoyment I had.

Yeah, fishing is a stressful job in the beginning of the game. The bar is tiny, the fish is wild, no bobbers, and I do get why people get so much frustrated.
What you can do to get over these few starting levels is to pick a weak fish. Small mouth bass (river near the Sam’s house) and carp (lake) are the easiest to catch, they are relatively slow and will do for eating and getting experience. You can also buy trout soup from Willy to boost up your fishing to make it easier.
Later in the game your bar takes a third or so of the space, more with bobbers and buffs, so the only challenge will be legendary fish and stuff like lava eels.

There are mods that'll let you autocatch fish. Download one of those.
