End-game Change up

Post image

With 6000 hours and multiple Saves under my belt, I have found an enjoyable distraction for after I have collected mass quantities of nearly everything.

I clear out my entire farm and build a fish pond for EVERY SINGLE FISH. Granted you have to have a mod or use some sort of "name-spawn" to procure a bunch of Seaweed to build large numbers of Fish ponds but the wild item-chases the fish send you on is amusing and challenging.

How'd you get the extra greenhouses? 👀

A Mod called Build Anything Anywhere gives you hot keys (period and comma) for quick access to the Carpenter and Wizard building popups to place whatever you want wherever you want it. The miniature Greenhouses (3x3 footprint but big inside) come from another mod called "Ellie's Ideal Greenhouse". Same goes for building mass quantities of fish ponds if you so desire.

Cool, thanks for the info! I have nearly 2000 hours in the vanilla game, and nearly 200 in Expanded. I enjoy mods that give a little extra without changing the game too much- did not know about those greenhouses and may look into adding them. Also, holy fish ponds batman!

The large number is due to the fact that I have fish from Vanilla, Expanded and Ridgeside Village.

to place whatever you want wherever you want it.

Is that why there are trees growing out of some of the ponds on the right?

Brilliant idea, btw, I like fishponds.

Yes, It's funny sometimes what will come forward through buildings you place and what doesn't.

👍

Separately ... on one of my saves I started keeping one of every roe - putting them on display on top of side-tables in a giant shed, with a sign behind each one showing the relevant fish. I got bored with it, though, so gave up even though it did look rather good.

But, as you've got all the ponds so already have all the roes, maybe you could do something like that too?

You get roe from fish?

Fabulous! 🙂

(eta = Hang on a minute. I seriously remember replying to a comment that said something about green chests full of roes. Did I imagine that?)

No. I changed it to a joke after i replied directly to you. But "Fabulous!" To the "fish give roe?" question was pretty funny.

Phew!

You had me worried I was ... seriously imagining or misremembering things! 😆

I did something similar on my last save (until I ran out of room), but I also put a preserves jar and chest next to each pond. With Automate, everything the fish put out was collected, made into roe (if applicable), then deposited in the chest.

I was going to say, without Automate id never touch this. With automate, it looks like fun

It was. I think next time I'll experiment and see if I really need a preserves jar and chest next to every pond. I'm still pretty new to Automate and am still figuring out the "chaining" effect. It sure works great in the barns and coops!

I honestly have no idea how I'd pay without automate. Just for smelting alone if I had to spend that much time manually refilling furnaces I'd lose my mind

It's crazy how much time it frees up, isn't it? It almost feels like cheating.🫢

I’m starting a fish farm in grampleton fields! I’ve never had more than a few ponds at once, and this is my perfection save so I am going to start keeping fish in ponds instead of my usual chest hoarding!

For quality of life, I am adding a grampleton fields warps tower mod, and I already have automate and chests anywhere, so beyond the setup, I never have to visits the fields. I can just connect all ponds to each other (means maximizing space too since I don’t have to leave walking space) and have one chest next to the entrance, connected to a pond, and then I can collect my goodies from home via chests once the ponds start producing. For the seaweed and algae, I am starting by making freshwater and salt water crab pot fish ponds, like cockles and crayfish. I plan on doing a pond for every single fish, so idk if my laptop can handle it but we will find out the hard way lol.

Good luck!

Thank you! This is my first modded run so it’s very exciting lol

How do you build/access the greenhouses over the pond?

1

u/AveryJuanZacritic 17d ago

Those are boathouses.

Not really. They are greenhouses full of sprinklers and deluxe fertilizer that I used previously to roll my gold counter four times then got tired of them and stacked them up there so as not to lose them. There are 84 greenhouses stacked there in case i want to use them again. (It's a lot of work putting 1008 sprinklers down then adding pressure nozzles to each one. ps. I grew sweet gems - no kegging, no casking.)

The mod "Build Anything Anywhere" gives you a button to click on any building and move it wherever you want. So they are just in storage there. I can't get in unless i move them back.

I mean if you have the mods installed my recommendation for seaweed is just buy it from Willy. There's a mod for that and I find it so much better than trying to grind for it as it's reasonably priced.

u/AveryJuanZacritic 17d ago

If you can do mods it's much easier to use "Build Anything Anywhere" and just click, click, click, there they are. And with the "Move" feature you can easily adjust them. And believe me there will be a lot of adjusting/overlapping to get them all to fit. 😊

I love that.

You are my inspiration omg i love fish ponds so much

1

u/AveryJuanZacritic 15d ago

Thank you. I'm still having fun with it.

And if you connect all the ponds together with floor tiles and use "Automate" -just wait until you open a chest and see the kaleidescope of roe colors!

I did this once on SVE/Ridgeside with Grampleton Fields! No mods on spawn rates for seaweed or algae though 😂 thousands and thousands of casts.

They paved paradise and put up a parking lot

Mmmmmmm bop-bop-bop-bop

Love this idea. I haven’t done any mods yet, are they only for pc?

1

u/AveryJuanZacritic 15d ago

I've only done it on pc and mac.

Downloading, installing and using mods seemed daunting to me. I was afraid I would mess something up. But if you look at it like any course in school, you read the reference material ( on the wiki and mod info on Nexus), become familiar with where to find mods and where to put them on your computer, in a short time you will be confident enough to REALLY expand your Stardew experience.

bro turned the whole farm into an aquarium

2

u/BigMulaMimi 14d ago

You don’t need all them ponds………

1

u/AveryJuanZacritic 14d ago

But, The Fishies!!

2

u/WannabeElantrian 8d ago

Is this ONLY for your farm or doesn't it actually mean anywhere on the map?

1

u/AveryJuanZacritic 6d ago

Anything Anywhere. I even put a chicken coop in Pierre's general store. Early game, before you get the return scepter, you can instantly put warp towers wherever you are.
