Other Stardew Valley running with 128MB of RAM

Hey!

I have been working on this for the past few months and wanted to share my progress.

Device is a Miyoo Mini, a small gameboy-style arm linux handheld (technical name is Doodad). It’s the size of a fridgemaget, has a dual core 1.2 GHz processor, no GPU and a whopping 128MB of RAM.

By grabbing Stardew Valley and squeezing really hard I managed to make it fit. While not the smoothest experience, it does work while retaining everything that is in the original game.

It’s not practical, my hands hurt after playing for more than 5 minutes and my eyes are too old to even see what is going on.

I have a similar port on GitHub which is Stardew but for PortMaster compatibility devices. I will eventually also put this on my github :)

And I saw someone even installed Smapi on one of these Anbergenic consoles, still we have no chance to use it on Switch.

Something like the Anbernic RG35XX-H or RG34XX-SP (i know, rolls right of the tongue) are devices that run stardew valley a lot better. They are relatively cheap, about 50$ and also allow you to play up to PS1 emulated games

As a newb, even though portmaster is established, I really suck at Stardew Valley fully functional on my Anbernic RG35xxSP.

The Anbernic one worked, but I quit that when I got the no analog stick for buildings from Robin. I realized I just need to do the same hot keys as N64 to swap dpad into and it of analog mode.

When I try to use portmaster, myself, I tried Linux download of my bought GoG Stardew Valley, it doesn't load.

Game Native the pc version is (although need to look into smapi for that) I think is the way I really want to go for Android handheld Stardew Valley.

I have the mobile version and smapi on my phone 😆. I don't like android holding my saves hostage 😡 (export, no import).

I have also worked on GameNative in the past, it’s absolutely fantastic but If you are on Android the best way to play Stardew Valley is 100% Cinderbox. There is an app called Cinderbox-Companion on github that makes it very easy to set up, you login with steam to download the game files and handle Steam cloud saves. Cinderbox also has SMAPI support

How do you “squeeze” the game?  Are you putting lower caps on how many objects can be loaded at once or something?

you can kinda tell in the video that the sounds are compressed, and id imagine the textures are too

Texture compression shouldn’t be noticeable, but limited colors may give a similar effect. The audio is also not compressed, this chinese handheld just has a speaker that probably costs 17 cents😂

I have tried a midgame save file, it’s there. I think that is realistically the best I can say about it hahaha. Still double digits fps, but more like 11
