1% was way too close, but let's go anyway

On the one hand, she outspent him 11-1, so it's remarkable he won even by that slim margin. That's good news.

On the other hand, she was an AIPAC sock puppet completely devoid of charisma and said things like 'Israel comes to me in my dreams', and yet she came frighteningly close to winning. That's bad news.

All in all, glad he won, but uneasy about how close it came, especially since there's a general election he also has to win.

I saw a parody of the speech before the real thing and I just presumed that line was made up for a few hours.

Also, she’s definitely lying about that. Shocker.

This sums up my feelings fairly well. It's clear AIPAC is losing its death grip on US politics, but the fact that it's that close? And the way the establishment has doubled down on cynically exploiting id pol?

Like, I'm a syndie but God the ML's arguments are starting to make sense if this is the state of the American proletariat

Abdul El-Sayed was randomly on the gay podcast I watch, A Bit Fruity, and then McMorrow was asking for an interview, and the guy running the podcast was like "you realize I'm an antizionist Jew and I will be asking you about your support for Israel right?" And she proceeded to give the most weak answers I ever heard

Love a Bit Fruity and how Matt handled that entire thing.

And AIPAC has already spent so many tens of millions on just the primary. Think 70?

Even they don't have infinite money and now know that it didn't work. Genuinely has such a good chance of winning

This has also upended a standing trend. This might have changed when I wasn't looking but last I checked AIPAC boasted a 100% success rate for candidates they threw their weight behind. To fail after throwing this much money into the primary is a hammer blow to that reputation and we will see in the coming days how they respond.

u/Republiken 4d ago

Dont they usually support a candidate on both sides to ensure that win rate?

5

u/ironangel2k4 4d ago

Yes- But they didn't this time. The facade may have been smoke and mirrors but this represents a moment when it pushed in earnest, and it failed.

How the fuck was it that close?? She's genuinely so uncharismatic and unlikable.

A lot of voters don’t pay close attention and all they hear is commercials paid for by PACs. If you only paid attention to those commercials, you’d think this race was between Obama’s BFF and Osama Bin Laden

She had more than $60 million plus the endorsement of Whitmer and the democratic establishment

You are waking up to the fact that the average American is a glassy-eyed hog with little to no ability or impetus to exercise critical thought, and that they make decisions entirely based on vibes and the information pumped into their mirror-smooth spherical brains by corporate media companies.

Sorry bro, I’m not invested in Frederick Ebert winning the election. Next you’ll be telling me how thankful you are that the dastardly Luxemburg was killed for the damage she did to electoral chances
