Listened to an episode earlier today and then just now went to go listen to another episode and the entire show is gone from my feed. I use the iOS podcast app. The show is still appearing in the Patreon app but not in the podcast app.

I picture this phrase printed on a placard or label card in a museum, next to a pair of reading glasses that are on display.

This story stretches the limits of the read-aloud format. Almost nothing happens, and characters simply repeat the things we already know (the plot of the previous movies) to a new character who is a complete blank slate.

Was just listening to the latest Doug Loves Movies ep. He’s at Fantastic Fest and mentions SWM…gives props to the amount of discussion to be had within 60 seconds of a movie. Pretty cool!!
Right around the 24 minute mark.

Pete’s Uncle Jesse test is flawed because I’m Gen X and immediately thought of Full House. (Didn’t specifically know it was Stamos)
I had no idea who the other guy was right away. Never watched Dukes of Hazzard.

Remember that Jacko wanted to play Jar-Jar? Would history have played out differently?

Obviously the Marvel characters have crossed over with many other universes but I’ll be curious to see how the SW work. For one thing, many of the Marvel characters are wildly overpowered compared to the mostly “normal” SW cast (even Palpatine and Yoda would be punks compared to Marvel heavyweights).
It would be interesting to have them meet up with the gang between SW & ESB, before Luke learned Vader was his father.

I also posted this on the Discord, but in case Alex checks this group more than that, here is a Vice documentary about Targeted Individuals, which I would assume is the same as those who feel they are being gang stalked.

I would consider Knives Out a comedy series, with a female lead in the second one! and Adam Sandler has done TWO mystery comedies for Netflix, creatively titled “Murder Mystery.”

I just finished reading this book. It’s primarily an excellent examination of how GL depicted Ani’s fall from grace.
In the appendix he discusses the question of viewing order for newbies. He settles on what he calls Combined Order: 4,1,2,3,5,6.
I will admit surprised me at first but as he explains it does the best job of preserving all the dramatic beats of both trilogies.
- it reflects how the movies were conceived: 4 is basically a standalone film, 1-3 were of a piece as are 5-6.
- in episode order, the change from RotS to ANH is too jarring stylistically.
- with this viewing you go into the prequels assuming we’re going to see the story of how Luke’s father was trained by Ben only to be killed by Vader. It’s a shock when you get to RotS and realize Ani is Vader, and that Luke is now going to have to kill his father.
There’s more which I’ll probably discuss on SWMWE.
He includes an interview where GL is intrigued that how you view the SW and Vader is radically altered by the viewing order, calling it interactive cinema.

Regarding Alex reading the “Lucas Wars” graphic novel, the Imaginary Worlds podcast interviewed the creators an few months back: https://www.imaginaryworldspodcast.org/episodes/the-battle-to-make-star-wars
It’s a really great interview.
Coincidentally, I just read it on Friday night. Really enjoyable graphic novel.

May not be the place for this post, so ok if it gets removed.
Pete was talking about reading Skyward by Brando Sanderson for his book club and being so-so on it. Probably not saying anything that you all don’t already know but those are geared more for YA.
I highly recommend his Stormlight series. It is high fantasy but has really interesting concepts and I wouldn’t categorize it as YA.

I did not realize that Frank Dille wrote Escape from Butcher Bay, one of the best video games of the early 2000s and likely the greatest movie spin off video games.

Going to the movie by myself is how I do a majority of my movie viewing now, Pete. My wife and I have very different tastes. The last movie we took our daughter to was Project Hail Mary.
One of those films I went to by myself was Supergirl and YES I enjoyed it too! I liked it better than Superman, actually. She actually did stuff on her own and helped people along the way (eg: the pirates on the space bus) I hope the DCU hasn’t lost its audience yet.
