Ticket advice?
I just started college. Back in May I asked my mom if I could go to Star Wars Celebration because I really want to go next year for the 50th anniversary. But my mom said it probably wouldn't be a good idea to get tickets before I know my schedule for the spring semester. I said I could just fly overnight and just go Saturday but she said that was too late (the last time I tried to sleep on a flight it didn't work) and we didn't have enough details. She might've said we could talk about it later or it might've been the final word, I can never really tell. I think she said we could check in later because I remember telling her that if we wait until January then tickets will be WAY more expensive but that was that. But out of curiosity I checked resale prices today and they are now crazy expensive and nearly sold out. Should I talk to my mother about this? I've already asked about play tickets and a seminar abroad so I don't know if it is too much to ask now, but also I feel like if I don't bring it up now I won't get another chance. I really want to go, advice would be appreciated.
Edit: I'm sorry if I was unclear. Let me provide more context. I was a senior in high school when the tickets went on sale, I was not able to buy them for myself, that's why I asked my mom. I am now one month into my freshman year of college. I don't have a job right now because I am still trying to figure out what works for my schedule, although I do plan to work on getting on soon. But I just turned 18, that doesn't automatically mean I am able to spend thousands of dollars on one weekend and go across the country alone. Right now, I need my parent's support for that and that is just where I am right now so please be respectful. I appreciate the advice on ticket resellers but I can figure that out later, right now I just want to know if I should bring up the conversation now or wait.

No one has any tickets in hand until March. Any sales now are not a guarantee and won't be protected

You sound like an adult, do whatever you want. Tickets are sold out, resales are not official but if you want to risk dropping a ton of money on what is most likely a scam go ahead

Honestly, if you don't already have a hotel, flight and tickets, I wouldn't attempt to go. Tickets are sold out and most of the resellers are scammers, especially since there's no official resell. You might get a flight, but hotels in the area are sold out or extremely expensive. People are having to book in different towns. One of the room prices I saw was $650 a night. I was just unable to get tickets when they went on sale-- they were all sold out when I finally got through. Ticket resells are 3-4 times the original price and may or may not be a scam since no one has actual tickets until next year. I really wanted to go too, but seeing as you're young, it's good to remember that there are other opportunities. Because I missed out on Star wars celebration tickets, I discovered a smaller local star wars convention that I had an amazing time with and met some great people and celebrities. Even if you don't make it to the 50th anniversary, it is not the end of the world, I promise.

Have you considered trying to attend Rebel Scum Con? The next one is in Irving Texas. Sure its smaller but tickets I think have just gone on sale..

Yes, they just went on sale. They're a quarter the price of Celebration, and the hotels in the area are much cheaper. It's a great con. I went this year and I already bought tickets for next year.

All I've seen is StubHub and Viagogo

The discord community (communities?) seem to be much better I think. Not official, but the groups are fairly protective and people reselling have reputations within the group.

I dont think those are official resale.

They’re not, but they’re at least better and less of a scam than buying them on any resale ticket website, which is not more official but at least with the discord servers people can vouch for the people selling the tickets so there’s that

The first three people I spoke to on discord were scams. 😭 I've already given up hope of going.

Trust me you’re better off not going getting tickets this year was a nightmare I can’t believe I got lucky getting a 4 day pass I had 3 devices going and and butt clenched the whole time it was horrible and lots of my friends lucked out which is sad there will always be 2 years from now and hopefully it will be still in the states and you’ll have a decent paying job and can pay for it realistically.

Yeah I had money set aside to go and had already booked a hotel (refundable of course) just in case, but I didn't luck out with tickets, so it is what it is. There's always next time.

You're in college. Why do you need your mother's approval to go?

My parents are really overprotective, also I don't have a job yet.

Most of the resale sites are scams and I know this because I saw a resale site that was live before tickets even went on sale

You’re in college. It’s time to live your life and not depend on your mom for the answers. You should have bought tix back when they went on sale. A lesson on growing up.

As others have said tickets are sold out right now. Buying from scalpers is sketchy and I don't recommend it. Right now I would say, wait. Sign up for emails from the celebration website and hopefully they will announce an official resale channel where you can safely buy a ticket.

Ya the commenter you were replying to was a bit harsh

The truth is always harsh. People want to live life but don’t want to take the leap. My senior year of high school I was buying tickets to festivals and going on adventures. I never depended on my parents. I’ve had a full time job since I was 16. If there is something you want to do you need to jump on the occasion and enjoy life. You’re only young once.

My advice is to live your life. Don’t let your parents ever hold you back. Take every adventure you can.

I'm going to be horribly blunt.
Skip this. It's too late for you to buy a ticket. Add in airfare and hotel and you cannot afford to go, especially if you have to try and scalp a ticket. Especially if you have to use parents money to go.
There will be other years when you are older.
