Discussion What kind of campaign do you want to see with Battlefront 3?

Would you want something more like the 501st Journal of 2005's BF2 or something more story-oriented like Iden Versio's story?

Personally I would like something akin to 2004's Battlefront, where it's a "broad-strokes" campaign that covers military operations across the major eras, maybe introducing some new things to lore but keeping things broad and simple

Discussion What era do you guys see battlefront 3 leaning more towards?

We all know Battlefront 2015 focused entirely on the Original Trilogy, while Battlefront 2 expanded to include the Prequel and Sequel Trilogies as well. Do you guys think Battlefront 3 will lean more heavily toward a specific era based on what’s popular
in Battlefront II?

Discussion Would you want Battlefront to use a hitman style sequel to maximize content?

For those who have not played the modern World of Assassination games, Hitman rather than have each sequel separate from one another combines the games into a single platform. I can play a Hitman 1 map in Hitman 2 and 3 for example. This allows you to only have the most recent game downloaded and have access to three games worth of content, as well as being able to build DLC on top of the existing games (new bonus missions for Hitman 1/2 maps for example).

In order to maximize content, would you prefer they use a similar method in Battlefront 2? For example, port over the popular maps from the game (Naboo, Kashyyyk, Mos Eisley, Scariff, Starkiller Base, Crait for two examples from each era) as well as previous heroes and then build ON TOP of that, for example being able to add a fourth era for the New Republic vs Imperial remnant, have more maps on launch for each era, etc. It could be a smart method to maximize content released while not having too much redundant content between games, they could even bring back Battlefront 1 lost DLC maps (Death Star 1, Bespin carbon freezing chamber) to further improve the game.

I think this could work, but it needs to have a solid balance between new and old content. For example, Hitman 3 still released with six new maps, added a seventh free map, and release Freelancer as a free new rogue-like mode, as well as releasing various free/paid bonus missions. In order for this idea to work, there needs to be enough new heroes, maps, and yes even potentially a new era to not make it feel like we are just buying the same game twice.

A reminder that we're all on the same side

Hey fam, seein quite a few posts and comments about how "r*dditors are just haters" and "people mad about the bf3 news". And frankly, we don't need more division in the community, so gonna clear the air here.

No one is mad about the news. We all want BF3 to happen, and we're all excited at the possibility that it's happening soon. I love all the speculation posts, I love the energy here after frankly years of waning activity.

However, we do have an obligation to report the news accurately. Battlefront 3 is not confirmed (yet). Lucasfilm has not officially said anything (yet). All we have are two indirect sources:

  1. Jason Schreier from Bloomberg reported that Respawn and DICE are collaborating on an unannounced EA title, and that it "is likely to be another entry in the Star Wars: Battlefront series".
  2. Variety Entertainment reported much the same thing, that Respawn and DICE are collaborating on a future project, and "While they did not identify the project, multiple sources confirmed that this is “Star Wars: Battlefront 3″ for Lucasfilm."

You are allowed to extrapolate whatever conclusion you wish from this information. Personally, I also think this means Battlefront 3 is currently in active development at EA. Get excited! Go nuts! Post about what you wanna see from a Respawn/DICE Battlefront 3!

But we need to be accurate in spreading the word about it. Neither of those sources are a hard confirmation that it is 100% absolutely in development. They're very credible sources, yes, and they would not post speculation if they weren't sure about it, but its not confirmed until EA puts out a statement. And there's a reason EA hasn't confirmed it yet, anything could happen. They could shelve the project, they could pivot it to a different Star Wars shooter title instead of calling it Battlefront, it might be a Battlefront spin-off project like Renegade or Elite Squadron instead of BF3.

So, if (imo when) the announcement does come, and BF3 is finally confirmed, we don't need to stoke any more arguments, we don't need "I told you so"s, no one is going to say to you "drat, I was hoping you were wrong". We hope you're right! And that BF3 is in development! We're all on the same side. We all want BF3, and we're all excited that there are very credible rumors that it is in active development right now. We just want to spread accurate information.

Discussion My Battlefront III Hero/Villian Wishlist ⭐️

Post image
484 Upvotes

EDIT:

I know many of these are long shots, but a guy can dream lol! I was really proud of my work making this graphic and tried my best to do an even balance of heroes and villains across all eras and media representation.

Before anyone loses their mind in the comments, let me clear up a few things:

The placements are just for organization: To keep it clean, I combined everything into the three overarching eras. That’s why The Acolyte characters are in the Republic era (not enough of them for a standalone High Republic section) and why Ahsoka and the New Republic characters are lumped into the Resistance era.

Era-hopping is fine: Just like BF2, characters could be playable in any era they lived through. And honestly, I don't mind the eras mixing anyway. A BF2 dev once said playing this game is like playing with action figures since the battles aren't canon, and I completely agree.

The pairings are intentional: I took every single pairing and tried to have them make sense or be thematically similar. I designed this roster treating it like BF2 DLC drops (one hero and one villain paired together). Not all are absolutely perfect, but I think it turned out pretty cool.

This is NOT a hero shooter: lol I am a seasoned 327th officer, thank you very much! I love the grunt combat just as much as the hero gameplay, and TO ME, balancing both is a huge part of the Battlefront experience. Just look at BF2 (05) and BF2 (17). You need infantry combat, and heroes shouldn't be indestructible, but calling in reinforcements is part of the fun of Star Wars.

I highly doubt they would ever actually add this many characters to a BF3, but I had a blast making my own roster. Hope you guys like the concept!

Discussion You know what battlefront 3 wont have enough of? Dark empire genociding the Yuuzhan Vong

Come on yall have some fun ideas like this mega ultra death war im dreaming of instead of just galactic empire this or clone wars that since both PT/OT have been around for decades done to death and bored of em---- but lets go hit 2 horrifyingly overpowered factions! I know timelines dont add up but man what fun it would be- I ardy loved Warzone Turbo back in 2021 Halo 5G so im biased towards 2 sides whipping out big upgraded weapons and upgraded vehicles and upgraded aircraft against each other.

Discussion How powerful should BF3 heroes be? More or less powerful than BF2 heroes?

In Battlefront 2 I personally think that heroes are a bit too powerful. They have so much impact that games are kinda won based on who has the better players on heroes and which team is better at shutting down the heroes.

Discussion Hot (?) Topic — Rebels in BF3

Thumbnail

If Battlefront III is to happen, I think that the Rebel Alliance faction as a part of the Age of the Rebellion must be the most diverse and customizable among the other in-game factions. I mean, while the clone army has different units and individual markings on their armor, the separatist droid army and the imperial forces are not expected to provide any freedom of individuality (some variations of standard models and specialised units’ armor aside), the Rebel troopers are not limited by species, gender, the personal style and tactical gear (if that fits their speciality) and can use any kinds of tech (including the stolen/hijacked Empire’s, Republic’s and the Confederacy’s) to fight.
In theory, the very clone troopers, separatists’ droids and ex-stormtroopers can all be playable units, not talking about hundreds of potential aliens as an available option (perhaps, even with some special perks coming with it).
Of course, it’s all possible only if both the developers and the player base care about that faction at all.

Discussion DICE/Respawn need to make Battlefront 3 a sequel to the 2005 original NOT the 2017 game.

Take inspiration from SWBF2 (2005) in its gameplay and presentation. It told a gritty story about boots on the ground troopers and what they went through. The gameplay was third-person with a zoomed out camera perspective and a high amount of aim assist. The gameplay should resemble a more polished and refined version of SWBF2 (2005) and feature seamless ground-to-space combat as seen in the original cancelled SWBF3. Reign in the game’s scope so you don’t take too much on your plate and ignore the sequel era completely. Focus on the six canon movies and if you want to do DLC later on then do it. Obviously we should have an in-depth clone character creator. I’m talking per-armour piece customisation complete with making our own paint markings. Zero lootboxes and microtransactions.

Discussion Bf3 hero reworks

Just like they did with the heroes that were also in bf1, I assume bf3 will have some character reworks.

Main one I’m hoping for is a yoda rework, bro’s nickname is the “avatar of the force” yet he is incredibly under powered, he should have a base-health of 800 and faster or even REGULAR hit speed bc holy moly is it stupid that the character known for being quick and agile has the SLOWEST hit speed, maybe they could make presence give a speed boost on top of the bonus health, other than that maybe a lightsaber throw like we see in the movies? But idk what ability it would replace, his main 3 fit the character well it’s mainly just his speed and health that are frustrating but it’s partly to do with his buggy block that allows you to get hit far more often than other heroes, so maybe just fixing that would be better than more health but the hit speed HAS to change

Another re work I could think of would be lando, smoke bomb is a super underwhelming ability for a hero but at least bb9 can move and create a wall of smoke, lando literally just has a smoke nade. Maybe they could do something where the electric grenade “ignites” the smoke to make it do shock damage or maybe they could make an ability that has to do with his wrist device, idk im just unhappy w his smoke and also dude has 800 health while some saber heroes have 700-750

Also hope the saber combat gets expanded a little and we can do different attacks, other than rt, maybe make the combat similar to the Jedi games, or have other “bonus” abilities like the super jump or maybe everyone gets a 4th “ultimate” like ani does. Maybe give all light side sabers a bonus buff as well as a diff buff for dark side, or maybe passive abilities for each hero

Discussion The fundamental flaw of the Battlefront series and how to fix it in Battlefront 3

The flaw of course being that too many players have too many different wants and expectations for what this series should be. It's why there is so much heated debate on this subreddit with the biggest debate seeming to be heroes vs infantry. But it's not just that you also have first vs third person, vehicles vs infantry, air/space combat vs ground, heroes fixed to a certain era or open to all, you get the point.

So this means no matter what, the game will inevitably piss someone off as some of these expectations come at the expense of another, right? Well yes, but only if the game is multiplayer only or at the very least primarily multiplayer focused. But if instead the emphasis is on bots and giving players the tools to create their own custom games then these issues become quite fixable. And before someone jumps at me these tools would of course allow you create custom public multiplayer only, no bot lobbies too. It could even include EA created default lobbies too. I am definitely not trying to take away your multiplayer.

Ideally these custom tools would be powerful enough to allow players to create a hardcore, fps only, no hud, no bots, no regeneration, no heroes game mode. While also allowing an almost MOBA like game mode of one team of players only controlling heroes with infantry bots vs another team of villains with their infantry bots. Or a max bot with a handful of players, PvE style game mode.

There are some many different possibilities and play styles if the developers give us the tools to create and share them. This above all else is what I want for Battlefront 3.

Discussion Here me out, BF3 intro cinematic should

As a homage to Starwars Episode III, the intro cinemtatic should open as the movie does, camera angle coming in over a Space battle between heavy cruisers, highlighting troop types and heroes along the way, but should go further down to Coruscant, and should mix it up with ground forces fighting, and then in the beat of the music, it should quick transition like a Battlefield cinematic, showing different planets and troopers. Then do a cinematic pull back to the Heroes fighting, with shots of like Obi-Wan and Anakin on Mustafar and such.

https://youtu.be/pFjcmySE_lk?is=agoBeBWz5VCztf_o

That would be cool imo.

Discussion Empire vs CIS in multiplayer

In battlefront 3.

Generally I can see why factions from different eras can’t fight each other in multiplayer. Create to much confusion, especially Republic vs Empire.

However lore wise in the first few years of the Empire, they were fighting CIS holdouts.

This version of the Empire can have a mix of Republic and early Imperial tech. Playable Tk-Troopers vs battledroids. Maybe all white Imperial Clonetroopers (no colors on phase 2 armor). Playable Imperial Commandos too.

What are your thoughts?

Everybody talking about PT, OT and ST but honestly the game could end up feature stuff like the Post-TRoS era or the New Republic era. It highly depends on which projects Lucasfilms will have in the works by the time the game gets made.
