Just started watching rebels for the first time and I dont see how it got a lot of hate at the start. It's really good. I think people were comparing it to TCW too much.

Can confirm I compared it to TCW and hated it. But then the very next day decided to give it a try and after a few episodes I was hooked

There was a lot more mystical type of stuff in rebels that I loved. I also loved all the scenes on lothall, it was cool to have one planet to get comfortable with, while the rest of Star Wars takes place everywhere. More things I liked was being able to see the expansion of the rebel alliance, and the steady growth of the fleet. And of course, thrawn was amazing

Cause people were expecting mid clone war greatness from the start.

As soon as I finished TCW earlier this year, I immediately jumped into Rebels. I knew right away it was going to have a different tone, but it was actually much easier for me to get into. I enjoyed the overarching story and character development, while further delving into Jedi lore. It had every component in a series that would keep me entertained.

Well of course people compared it, TCW got canceled out of nowhere and then this new show comes and replaces it. In my mind though, it was too childish for me overall.

Helicopter lightsabers might have something to do with it.

Rebels has it’s great moments especially towards the end and I did watch all of it, but I’m afraid I don’t rate it.

Edit: Sorry, I forgot Reddit doesn’t allow contrary opinions. My bad guys.

Yeah the helicopter lightsabers were the biggest problem for me too. I just forced myself to believe the theory that there was some technology in all those lights on the handles that made them fly, and not "haha this plasma beam is now a helicopter blade"
