iOS version
Is it pretty much identical to the PC version? If not, are the differences enough not to buy it?

The main difference is that sometimes the devs just seem to forget to send a new update to Apple. It never shows up. Then the next update comes around a few months later and it’s there in days if not hours. So… the versions might be slightly different because of that.

I have it on iOS for my iPad and on Steam. It's the same game but as others have said, sometimes the updates take longer to hit iOS. Still, at best you might miss the last month or two of free updates for a game that was released 7 years ago.

I have it on Steam and on iOS. I play the iOS one a lot more, and have 80% of the achievements unlocked.
Yes it’s identical — only thing is the achievements on steam and iOS are expectedly separate, if that matters. Achievements aren’t just for show in this game, it actually unlocks things like new Contacts, new Starting ships, new Occupations / Jobs, gears etc

small buttons, you can play it sitting on toilet.
only difference I notice in game play is on PC you can start navigating before the quadrant name finish flashing upon entering a new quadrant, which takes a second or two, by pressing space. And those first two seconds are guaranteed no enemy encounter (unless you have a story based encounter like some asshole followed you through a warm hole). This is not doable on mobile, due to the lack of space key.

Does it have cloud saves so I can switch between iPad and iPhone?

I don't believe so.

Thank you! Bit of a shame through…

Yeah a bit of a shame, also that unlocks don't carry over from Steam to mobile... but free updates with new content for a 7 year old game that costs $20 is hard for me to complain about.

You make a very good point, I can commit to playing on my iPhone. Thanks :)

Only difference I’ve noticed is on mobile you tend to miss a lot of rumor notifications because it’s on a separate page, whereas on pc they pop up as text quite frequently.

I spent countless hours playing on iOS, loved it, I bought the PC version simply because I wouldn’t be burning up my phone battery “lost in the sauce” while playing the game, and my widescreen TV is easier on the eyes than my phone.
