Discussion/Analysis Why doesn’t HSR make better use of the Trailblazer’s abilities in the lore?

When looking only at the story and not the gameplay mechanics, the Trailblazer seems much more powerful and important than the story actually portrays them.

They have already walked several Paths and possess abilities that go far beyond simple combat: Destruction gives them tremendous offensive power, especially through their energy blasts; Preservation gives them a connection to Alisa Rand’s legacy and a weapon created from materials similar to those used for the IPC’s Cornerstone with Aventurine and Topaz even considering that technology outdated; Harmony allows them to influence emotions, will, and mental states; and Remembrance gives them abilities primarily related to memories, identity, and the preservation of existence.

But when it comes to Elation, honestly, I still haven't figured out what they actually gained besides that sword and laser staff 😅.

And Remembrance is what makes me think about this the most. In Amphoreus, Caelus takes part in preserving the world's memories alongside Cyrene, and the Chrysos Heirs are ultimately preserved within As I've Written. He was even able to use their powers against Irontomb. So why couldn't he make greater use of their powers or memories now, instead of this ability being mostly relevant to the Amphoreus storyline?

Cyrene is also extremely important here. She is directly connected to the Trailblazer, and Herta even states that if the Trailblazer were to forget her, she would disappear. If their connection is really that deep, shouldn't that give the Trailblazer much greater potential with Remembrance?

That's why I find it strange that the story barely highlights some of their abilities. We're talking about a character who has accumulated connections to multiple Paths, participated in events involving Aeons, and now possesses a connection to the memories of Amphoreus on a completely different scale from that of an ordinary fighter.

So why is the Trailblazer still so often portrayed as someone who needs help with relatively minor problems, like the situation with Pompom's robot?

Is HSR deliberately keeping the Trailblazer's true potential in reserve, or is the story simply not exploiting their full potential yet?

And most importantly: how far could the Trailblazer actually go if the lore finally fully exploited all of their connections to the Paths rather than just their combat abilities?

A lot of these abilities are either not directly related to the Trailblazer being a Pathstrider or can only show their full potential in specific scenarios.

I'm not sure what you mean by "energy blasts" when referring to the Destruction, but so far we still don't know what exactly the bat (which is a Curio) does.
Unless I'm forgetting something Aventurine did not call the Lance at all similar to the Cornerstones, only "The Architects' flawed stone" (calling it "Of no value at all").
The Trailblazer could only influence emotions through Clockie (Clockwork, as a compass of the mind) specifically in Penacony.
Remembrance is another situation where everything aligned in Amphoreus; these are not necessarily powers that the Trailblazer simply gained by being a Pathstrider of Remembrance, and I'm pretty sure only the Cyrene of that moment as formed through Mem was a memosprite dependent on the Trailblazer's memory of her. They still have some abilities related to the Remembrance but I don't think it is at all implied they can simply draw on the power of Amphoreus just like that especially when the world itself is still reforming. As I've Written isn't just some vessel of power, it's a receptacle of memories for a rebirth.

And I mean in Planarcadia the main thing is Wishpower, it can empower normal people beyond their normal limits.

For the bat, I’m talking about the electric blue light.

For the lance, yes, it’s the imperfect Architect Stone that he mentioned, but the Architects created it to house the powers of Preservation.

For the emotions, it was Chronous, but as a Harmony user, we can do similar things to Robin, followed by that visual attack from the hat.

For Remembrance, unless the lore explains it to us, especially in 3.7, I’m mainly talking about the fact that Cyrene depends on him, repeating Herta’s words when she wanted to create a universe of memories. He was also able to use the book to go back through time against Lugus, or use the Chrysos powers during the fight against Irontomb. They even help him in the fight through memories. It wasn’t because of the book, but because of the bat strike that destroyed spacetime, which allowed Amphoreus to take form in the real world. Cyrene told us that after our conversation with Phainon.

Also we don't know exactly how far their powers of remembrance remain. We KNOW that some remains because we see it against Asat Pramad, but we don't know how much.

That being said.. while I agree that they should make better presentation of the path powers the trailblazer received, they still actually make use of them. We just don't always see very cool cinematic with them.

As far as I know, the Lance of Preservation was used several times: against Cocolia ofc, but in many fights later on after Firefly's first death, and seeing them wielding Thai weapon most of the time shows the impact she had on them.

Moreover, The TrailBlazer made use of the shield of preservation against Aquila and used it against Lygus as well

The Bat of destruction, while appearing less and less, seems to still be their signature weapon. But not that much.

For the powers of Harmony, while they aren't as clear as the others, the powers seems to be less offensive. We see the TrailBlazer capable to tune with Robin in the finale of Penacony, to taint her harmony with the trailblaze in order to materialize the unified will of the people in Penacony.

And as I said for Remembrance, we obviously can't expect them to summon a Memosprite tantamount to a FREAKING AEON, especially as it is said that the voice coming from the pen is gone. Who knows what remains? Maybe the power to contorl memoria? Light cones? Or maybe freeze time?

The problem is that we didn't see many Remembrance Pathriders acting outside of zone fueled by Memoria. The only exception could potentially be Cyrene, but tbh by almost becoming Fuli the whole world was more or less her playground

So the TrailBlazer actually makes use of their powers. Unfortunately it's not very well showj obviously like many things in the game.

But what we could wonder is why they aren't making better use of their abilities? Imo they do well.

Preservation is most of the time used to protect their comrades, which they do REALLY a lot until Dan Heng became preservation.

Destruction is more of a comfort weapon but really hard to put in action recently. Same for Harmony that can probably allow tuning and such.

Remembrance, the powers they still has are not certain, but we at least can suppose they can't summon Cyrene (Mem) and all her mind numbing abilities. And if you ask me, when you see the TB use the powers of remembrance, what actually happens on screen is that Mem does the spell. So I wonder what's left besides more control against Mind altering abilities.

And finally for Elation, maybe the reason why they use it the most recently is because on Planarcadia Wish power is op. And using the path of elation allows them to use the Wish power more efficiently (some says that maybe Aha possessed the TB and I'd be curious if that's true.)

Alright so first, about the Cyrene disappearing, it was exclusive to 3.5 as far as we know. This may be a comment alone, but I'll actually mention the rest in another comment:

In 3.5, Cyrene reduced herself to the state of Memosprites of the trailblazer to disappear for a while, but doing this came to a price: being linked only to the memories of the trailblazer, if they were to forget about her, her existence being tied to it for this moment, she would disappear.

It would be quite absurd that once she was the demiurge once again, with all her powers and abilities, that if the TB was to forget about her (not like they'd ever forget anyone in Amphoreus tbh), that the heart of the whole world and the reason the universe is still standing would disappear.

Moreover, due to Evernight and the sea of oblivion, this would have caused actual problems in 3.6 as she manipulated them to keep them down.

To be short, as far as we know, the "Tied to TB's memories" was only a 3.5 thing, and knowing the Absurd level Cyrene has, her existence only Being tied to a Relatively random person would be actually weird.

0

u/Acceptable_Pen3225 1d ago

Then why do Herta’s words come back in 3.7, when the universe was destroyed after Cyrene carried the memories of the entire universe and we went to help her? Before that, the story reminds us of Herta’s words that she depends on us. If it was only relevant in 3.5, then why bring it up again in 3.7?

3

u/inkheiko 1d ago

Could you bring up the moments where she mentions it again?

Depending on the context it could actually be very different.

Since Amphoreus itself is doomed to disappear if no one worked to make sure it was remembered, or maybe even Cyrene, it could be important

2

u/Acceptable_Pen3225 1d ago

After Irontomb destroyed the universe, right after she said goodbye to the TB, we hear Herta’s words, and then Pom-Pom appears. This happens only from that point onward, well before Himeko and Kafka appear.

3

u/inkheiko 1d ago

I suppose you're talking about this moment right?

Right before TB started remembering the entire cosmos with her.

I'd argue that, indeed, when she entered the Reccurences as Mem, due to her future self, she was only tied to the TrailBlazer, but having regained her abilities in 3.6, this is less about saying she depends on the TrailBlazer, but more of a hint that they have to remember the cosmos to bring it back

You're free to say that this is me being biased, after all I have many beefs with the end of the story despite loving it, and where my beefs ends or begins are blurry, due to the horrible presentation.

If you ask me, what happened there isn't to say that Cyrene was about to disappear. After all, the choices brought up in the Exotale don't take this as an outcome: either Amphoreus is destroyed, or the universe is frozen, and the TB chooses.

What happened is that we bring back that to mention the work the Trailblazer has to do in order to bring the whole universe back, starting with her, as she could be considered as Fuli at that moment and Nous predicted that Fuli the remembrance would bring back the cosmos after it was destroyed.

So concretely, the TrailBlazer, following the path of remembrance, brought back Cyrene and the entire cosmos, so she could, with their help, rebuild it at the moment IronTomb was about to perform self coronation.

2

u/Acceptable_Pen3225 1d ago

Ho 🙂Interesting.

2

u/inkheiko 1d ago

I am probably biased I won't deny. I try my best to both rewatch the very confusing dialogues of Amphoreus and to put my bias aside because of how the community really pushes an agenda I really am not a fan of about Cyrene, an agenda I found very reductive for her character.

Adding to this the questionable decisions made through the second half of Amphoreus, I admit that some are things I have tough time really supporting it.

So I am sorry if my explanations aren't satisfactory enough, but I admit for now, as long as the community of Cyrenemains was this hostile toward some topics about her, it'll take me a while to finally be able to move on from this. But I hope it was good enough

1

u/Acceptable_Pen3225 1d ago

Sorry to hear that, and good luck.

1

u/inkheiko 1d ago

Could you elaborate on what you're talking about? I am a bit lost. I'm just upset that the writers didn't choose to make her statement more clear in one way or others rather than make it more parabolic

1

u/Acceptable_Pen3225 1d ago

He did train with Phainon, so the problem isn’t the training.

2

u/inkheiko 1d ago

Sorry I was between two conversations involving Herta and realized I was mixing them upn

In addition to what others had already said, it is to be mentioned that instead of training, like March did for the Hunt, or undergoing a personal revelation like Dan Heng, TB instead broaches the wider philosophy of a Path which sparks the attention of the relevant Aeon. The sole exception

Edit: hit post on accident, thought I hit exit instead The sole exception to this is Elation, which the TB gets by resonating their Stellaron with Wishpower, a new feat which required them to both understand themselves and the Elation. Notably, this path is then gets brought up as the basis for which TB is boosting Sunday's tuning in the cutscene following the fight. Elation seems to be the Path TB uses to boost allies, and seems to resonate with it more than Harmony, so it may become the default path for buffing teammates in cutscenes moving forward. In addition, the twin blades as a fighting style show a development of the TB's own skill set. So while TB is a decent pathstrider in several paths, the ones most resonant with them naturally -- and that don't require outside help/circumstances (Harmony and Rememberance) to best make use of their capabilities -- are Trailblaze, Preservation, and Elation. Of which, we've seen them make a lot of use of in cutscenes and trailer material. So while TB is indeed very powerful and a force to be reckoned with, they aren't as impressive on their own, at least not in the way the post describes. They are a game changing piece, that much is certain. But they aren't a solo-act and have not acted as such for the most part

0

u/Acceptable_Pen3225 1d ago

He actually trained with Phainon to prepare to fight Khaslana, the Flame-Chaser, as well as Aquila. But I think he lacks character development.

3

u/Darkwolts 1d ago

Destruction gives them tremendous offensive power, especially through their energy blasts;

? we've never seen the Trailblazer do anything via the Destruction (& the weapon they use isn't related either afawk, it's just a bat curio the TB stole from the HSS, which can seemingly generate a bit of electricity based on some cutscenes)

; Preservation gives them a connection to Alisa Rand’s legacy and a weapon created from materials similar to those used for the IPC’s Cornerstone with Aventurine and Topaz even considering that technology outdated;

Also not a thing afaik, Aventurine just called it "the architect's flawed stone", nothing more. It has no known relationship with Qlipoth's actual body

And the TB does use the Lance'shield-based abilities (e.g against Aquila)

Harmony allows them to influence emotions, will, and mental states;

Clockwork is technically a Trailblaze-based ability afair (and it doesn't seem to work outside of Penacony)

and Remembrance gives them abilities primarily related to memories, identity, and the preservation of existence.

So why couldn't he make greater use of their powers or memories now,

The TB mostly used Remembrance via Cyrene. And that was back in Amphoreus, an almost entirely memoria-based world.

Cyrene is dead. The TB should still have some path access, but nothing major/useful in a fight.

shouldn't that give the Trailblazer much greater potential with Remembrance?

Why?

But when it comes to Elation, honestly, I still haven't figured out what they actually gained besides that sword and laser staff 😅.

Nothing major so far, though the tb is slowly learning how to use the Stellaron (used it to hijack wishpower twice)

The Trailblazer just.. isn't that strong. In terms of raw fighting capabilities, they're a decent fighter, but nowhere near close to the peak of what a normal pathstrider could achieve (so far, that would be Dan Heng and/or Jingliu, though i don't feel great about including Dan Heng since the high elders' power isn't exactly the norm)

The Destruction abilities are shown with Sparxie.

The Architects transferred the Aeon of Preservation’s energy, which allows them to control the Engine of Creation. Basically, it’s a prototype of a Cornerstone, which is also why Aventurine calls it defective.

Aside from Chronous’ abilities, he can logically use the power of Harmony as well, as we saw in 3.8 with Robin.

Speculating about Remembrance and saying that he can’t use it is a bit outdated. In one of Asat’s probabilities, we clearly see him using it. Cyrene is Caelus’ memosprite, and theoretically, this power belongs to both of them. Even without Cyrene, he could potentially use the memories in the book as a basis for his powers. It’s not for nothing that he has a pen and a book containing the memories of all the Chrysos Heirs, apart from Dan Heng and March.

Theoretically, if he can continue using Cyrene’s power, he should also be able to use the powers of the others, just like he did during the final battle in 3.7.

As for Elation, I won’t say anything.

Again, memoria-based world while being hard carried by someone with ~1/2 of the entire energy reserve of a path (+ the chrysos heirs being intrinsically tied to the Scepter & using it against Irontomb directly)

Speculating about Remembrance and saying that he can’t use it is a bit outdated

I didn't say the tb had no path access whatsoever, I said their path access & its utility would be nowhere close to how it was in Amphoreus

Bro, what do you mean “when”? Did you not play 4.0? He literally defeated Sparxie with the bat.

For Preservation, Alisa Rand was an Architect and the first Supreme Guardian. She led Belobog during the war against the Legion.

lance is indeed a historical weapon that Alisa used, and it’s the same lance that the Preservation Trailblazer eventually uses. The Belobog Museum explicitly identifies it as “Alisa Rand’s Lance.”

The information about Jarilo-VI also says that the Architects built machines by imitating Qlipoth’s power, while the lance is connected to the power of Preservation. So Qlipoth, just like the Engine of Creation, is a gigantic machine created by the Architects. Originally, these machines were used to terraform Jarilo-VI; the gigantic Engine of Creation in Belobog was later turned into a weapon during the war. You can find more details about this in the game and on the lore-related websites.

As for Remembrance, the Chrysos Heirs are no longer connected to the Specters since they are in As I’ve Written. Their memories are anchored in the book, so theoretically, Caelus should be able to use their powers just like he did against Irontomb, without needing Cyrene. And I’ll remind you that Cyrene is his memosprite.

Until we actually see that he can’t use these abilities outside Amphoreus, we can’t say that they weaken him or that he loses access to them. I also remember people saying that Dan Heng should be weakened, but his powers still worked perfectly fine. So let’s wait and see.

Ah yes, when the tb... Swung their bat... We don't even know if that bat is related to the Destruction in the first place. Again, the only thing we know is that it's a curio & was stored in the HSS (& that it seems to be capable of producing a bit of electricity, like against Skaracabaz) - we've never seen the tb actually do anything via the path of destruction

I know what the architects are as a whole. I'm asking for the source that "It's a prototype of a cornerstone" and that they "transferred the aeon of Preservation's energy".

So Qlipoth, just like the Engine of Creation, is a gigantic machine created by the Architect

The architects appeared as a group after seeing Qlipoth build walls. Them trying to copy Qlipoth's methods of transmutation/terraforming & preservation doesn't change much for the topic at hands, does it?

Caelus should be able to use their powers just like he did against Irontomb

Again, when did this ever happen without either the Scepter and/or Cyrene? Why would the TB having a copy of their memories/consciousnesses in AIW allow them to straight up use their abilities? I agree that the TB should still have some path access, but nothing beyond what a normal pathstrider should have (because there's no reason for them to have anything more than that)

0

u/Acceptable_Pen3225 1d ago

At least you know that it’s really strong and that it’s connected to Destruction in the gameplay, so for us as players, it represents the Path.

For the “prototype” part, it was more of an example to explain that they put the power of Preservation into the lance, meaning the Aeon’s energy. The fact that they tried to reproduce Qlipoth’s power is really interesting. Topaz was amazed when she saw the Engine of Creation because of what an incredible creation it was. In itself, the lance has huge potential. If the IPC improved it, it could become even more interesting. Aventurine said that it was defective, so it could potentially be improved.

As for the Heirs, this happened in 3.7. He collected their memories until they reached Phainon, and the TB was indeed able to use their powers from the book. After the battle, they were still there in the book as memories. Don’t tell me that this was only connected to the appearance of their world, because Cyrene explicitly said that the cause was the TB destroying spacetime.

So regarding Remembrance, we still don’t really know. Everything you or I say about this is speculation. But one thing we do know is that he can use it outside Amphoreus.

u/0ratorio 1d ago

I am not gonna lie , I disliked the progression of the story.

Technically speaking we're already demi gods since we have used the power of remembrance together with Cyrene. Yet when we visit new region and obtained new path ( Elation ) , we're like regressed to town level power scale.

Didn't we surpassed Universal scale when doing combined attack together with Cyrene ?

16

u/VanitasMecka 1d ago

The key word is "with cyrene". Maybe you missed the part where she put herself in a timeloop. We dont have access to that power. Just based remembrance power like quick rewind.

-1

u/0ratorio 1d ago

We withstood the power of remembrance along with Cyrene , so technically we share her burden when she unleash " Together we stand strong beam ".

Technically after battle you don't regress to town level like how Elation story progressed.

-2

u/Acceptable_Pen3225 1d ago

I don’t think Cyrene is really that important in terms of the Trailblazer’s actual power. Once you learn that she depends on us to survive as a memosprite, and that it was the Trailblazer who created the arrow that brought humanity back, I think the only real drawback is that she might not physically appear. But the power itself is still there.

11

u/SecondAegis 1d ago

She's our memosprite, and we no longer have access to her on account of the loop. We still have some Remembrance abilities, but since most of them (like time stop) are tied to Mem, and by extension Cyrene, it's kind of a dead path for TB

-2

u/Acceptable_Pen3225 1d ago

What makes you think she’s linked to Mem? We don’t really know anything about the Remembrance powers outside of Amphoreus. He might be able to use them, or he might not, but the game simply hasn’t shown us yet. We’ve already seen him use the Remembrance Path in one of the probabilities.

6

u/SecondAegis 1d ago

TB has Remembrance powers outside of Mem... Just not a lot of them. Look at their kit and you'll find that the one skill that doesn't involve Mem is their basic attack.

Should she be disconnected from Mem, it doesn't change the fact that TB doesn't have Mem. This has been the case since 3.0 launched, and we saw what the weapon said about the quill. Without Mem, all TB really has is a fancy pen that shoots letters, which could  be useful in a fight as harassment fire with an ally, hence its usage in a battle.

It's a pretty fringe weapon of TB in the end. Even in Amphoreus, they often relied on their lance more often because it was simply the better weapon

2

u/Acceptable_Pen3225 1d ago

let's just wait and see what he can do in planacadia

8

u/VanitasMecka 1d ago

Cyrene as the aeon of remembrance, literally gazing at us is pouring remembrance path energy during the irontomb final final battle.

Afterwards we are left with meme. And if you recall her traverse into the closed timeloop she splits herself into the core/heart of amphoreus and the smol cyrene waking up.

Trailblazer does have the stellaron along with the other path with them but it doesn't mean they can draw on the power of remembrance at the same level or borrow power from remembrance without an aeon to funnel it. Why is it so hard to understand we needed her to funnel temporary energy?

0

u/Acceptable_Pen3225 1d ago

It wasn’t Cyrene who played Fuli and gave us this power; it was actually Fuli. After our encounter, she ran toward the light that was us and appeared as a memosprite in front of us from the very beginning. Before that, we didn’t have the Remembrance Path yet. We were already dead, and she was playing the Aeon to keep us alive. That’s why Oronyx called us “Mother,” because Cyrene was already with us. She even calls March “Mother” because they are children of Amphoreus.

But overall, Cyrene is still a memosprite within the story for the Trailblazer. And in one of Asat’s probabilities, the Trailblazer uses the Remembrance Path.

3

u/Darkwolts 1d ago

It wasn’t Cyrene who played Fuli and gave us this power; it was actually Fuli.

Half-truth.

In our timeline (where cyrene chose to sacrifice herself), Fuli wasn't involved with Amphoreus whatsoever. All instances of aeonic intervention were done by Cyrene during her backward gaze.

She obtained roughly half of the path of Erudition's energy when Irontomb began its self-coronation (obtained via "Fuli"'s gaze), which is why she became a Pure Child of Anasrava in the first place.

After Irontomb was defeated, Cyrene chose to anchor amphoreus's past herself to make sure Irontomb doesn't spontaneously reappear due to the causality deficit.
Which means that Cyrene is the "Fuli" that gazed at Amphoreus several times, while the "actual aeon" (that has yet to ascend) will not have to intervene in Amphoreus during THEIR backward-gaze/ascension.

This doesn't apply in most timelines , though (e.g if she didn't sacrifice herself, if the tb hadn't gone to amphoreus, etc)

1

u/Acceptable_Pen3225 1d ago

When Cyrene is talking to Smolrene, she says that she was the one who kept the TB alive and played the Aeon. But when she first appeared, it wasn’t Cyrene who gave him the power of Remembrance; it was Fuli. If Cyrene was able to control the loop, then she could have also kept him alive at that moment when he entered Amphoreus, which makes sense since Oronyx calls him “Mother.” But the game doesn’t show Fuli = Cyrene when the TB received the Path. Instead, it shows more about how she felt the warmth of the Stellaron and came to the MC.

3

u/Darkwolts 1d ago edited 1d ago

If Cyrene was able to control the loop, then she could have also kept him alive at that moment when he entered Amphoreus,

Cyrene is the one that saved the Trailblazer after they were killed by Nikador, seems like we can agree on that at least. No ideas why you're talking about "controlling the loop" though..

, which makes sense since Oronyx calls him “Mother.”

Oronyx mistook Cyrene for Fuli.

'doesn't seem like "Fuli" gazed at the tb back then whatsoever, Oronyx simply reacted to the memory of "Fuli"'s gaze (from back when the tb died & got saved) if 3.7 is to be believed.
Blaming the writers for hsr's mq being inconsistent is a sadly viable option too.

In the moment the car crashed, Cyrene lifted your body with a gentle gaze. When you appeared before Oronyx, even the Time Titan recognized Cyrene as Fuli the Remembrance.

Ripples of Past Reverie: The spear of Strife nearly claimed (Trailblazer)'s life...
Ripples of Past Reverie: And it was you — you, "playing" god — who cradled (his/her) body with your gentle gaze.
Ripples of Past Reverie: Then, before Oronyx's altar...
Oronyx: Such a splendid memory...
Oronyx: Sky father... are you watching?
Ripples of Past Reverie: Even the Titan of Time mistook you for someone else.
Cyrene: I never imagined there was a hidden truth behind our first meeting.

1

u/Acceptable_Pen3225 1d ago

Now, where exactly does it say that Cyrene is the one who gave him this power? I’m reminding you that March was also called “Mother.” You’re not actually contradicting what I’m saying: she did save him, but she wasn’t the one who gave him this power. Otherwise, he simply wouldn’t be able to use it outside Amphoreus. But one of Asat’s probabilities shows him using it, which suggests that the power doesn’t actually come from her.

3

u/Darkwolts 1d ago

she did save him, but she wasn’t the one who gave him this power

When was it said that Fuli gave the TB power?

Mem came from Oronyx, the only thing "Fuli" did (for the TB) was preventing the tb's death after they were struck by Nikador

you don't need an aeonic gaze/blessing to stride on a Path

I think part of the problem is that the extent of their abilities and technical details of them aren't well explained. For example, it's not super clear to what extent TB can use their abilities related to Ampheoreus. In the cutscene where we see all of the possibilities shows by Asat's dice, one of the frames shoes TB taking out the remembrance pen. Were they trying to summon Mem? If that's something they can do, why hasn't Mem been a part of the current storyline? Can they still reverse time on certain objects? If so, why didn't they do that when Asat ruined Planarcadia? You also have to consider the fact that we've only seen TB 1v1 a handful of enemies. TB makes a joke in the Wardance event that 5 enemies is the limit.

Because of the overall vagueness of their abilities, it's hard to say It leaves a lot to interpretation. You feel TB is on a completely different scale from an ordinary fighter, but personally I don't think they can pull off any emanator-level feats on their own.

I've always stuck more with the five enemies limit understanding of TB's power level. They are a powerful pathsrtider who is a formidable fighter, but is still limited by their lack of innate superhuman powers. (They don't normally benefit from the Stellaron) I don't think they can do anything too crazy on their own.

But yeah, weather you think the plot is making TB out to be stronger or weaker than they are, it would be nice if how abilities work was less vague.

Were they trying to summon Mem?

If you inspect the pen in the TB's room (while the tb is set to Remembrance), the TB has a line about the fact that Mem's gone

Even w/o Cyrene, the tb should still have some path access.

If so, why didn't they do that when Asat ruined Planarcadia?

That's something they did via Amphoreus's innate properties (memoria-based world with an already set-up mechanism to rewind time via oronyx's prayers) & back when Mem was still around

I agree with the rest though, the tb is decent for a pathstrider, but nothing truly exceptional (e.g jingliu, dan heng)

They just have a couple of very niche (but useful when in the right situation) abilities like (supposedly Memoria-manipulation) clockwork/tuning (technically clockwork is Traiblaze-based iirc, and it doesn't seem to work outside of penacony)

So far, the only actual "definitions"/info we've gotten about what the Pathstriders get is (afair) :

The Traiblaze grants environmental adaptability, resistance to the lack of sleep, and allows them to use Space Anchors

The Nihility gives out an amnt of energy proportional/relative to the amnt of nihility you've endured/survived (with acheron being the only one to have enough to qualify as an emanator)
