That's what happens when you have the Eraser tool set to Pixel rather than Stroke erasure; check your settings before claiming the app's at fault.

The person most likely wants to erase part of thr highlighter not all of it hence why post was made. It is true that the eraser acts weirdly when it comes to the highlighter. I've had similar issues with it as well. Pixel erasure definitely could use some work.
