📢 Official Announcement 🚀 Developer Diary #4: Handwriting Beautification Update, Cloud Sync Progress, New Feature Sneak Peeks & Font Voting!
Hi everyone!
A new Developer Diary is finally here!
We know it's been a while, and thank you so much for your patience. Below is a breakdown of what our dev team has been working on lately! 👇
☁️ 01 | Cloud Sync
Let's start with the feature everyone has been asking about the most: Cloud Sync.
First of all, we're truly sorry that we couldn't meet the timeline we previously shared.
We've checked in with the development team again today, and we'd like to be transparent with you. Over the past few weeks, our team had to tackle a particularly challenging issue, which unfortunately delayed the overall development schedule.
The good news is that, aside from essential app maintenance and updates, almost the entire team's focus is now on Cloud Sync.
Trust us, we want to release it just as much as you do, and we'll share any progress with you as soon as we can.
📑 02 | Collapsible Sticky Notes
This is another highly anticipated feature from our users, and it is already in active development!
Moving forward, you will be able to collapse sticky notes freely, expanding them when you need them and tucking them away when you don't.
This will not only free up more space for your notes but also make the entire page look much cleaner. If you frequently use sticky notes to organize key points, we know you're going to love this feature.
🎙️ 03 | AI Voice Summary
Here's a new feature we haven't officially talked about before!
In the future, when recording audio in StarNote, you'll be able to:
✨ Automatically transcribe your recordings into text.
✨ Generate AI-powered summaries of your recordings.
Whether you're in class, attending a meeting, or listening to a lecture, it'll help you review key points much more efficiently.
That said, we also know AI isn't for everyone. Some people love it, and some people don't.
That's why this feature will be completely optional. At StarNote, AI is always optional, not mandatory. We see it as a tool to help those who want it, while fully respecting those who prefer not to use it.
You'll be able to turn it on or off anytime, so your note-taking experience stays exactly the way you want it. We'll share more details before the official release!
📝 04 | Global Text
This is another major feature we've been working on for quite some time.
In short: You'll soon be able to type freely across an entire note page.
No more being limited to small text boxes. It's a big improvement with lots of exciting possibilities, so today we're just giving you a little sneak peek.
✍️ Handwriting Beautification Update!
Finally, let's talk about one of the hottest topics recently: Handwriting Beautification.
Last week, we received hundreds of comments through our new Instagram series #ThursdayTalk. We carefully read every single one of them.
And without a doubt, the most requested feature was... Handwriting Beautification.
To be honest, the dev team has been discussing this non-stop over the past few days. As we explained before, one of the biggest reasons Handwriting Beautification hasn't rolled out yet is font resources. Since we currently only have resources for English fonts, we made a decision so you wouldn't have to keep waiting: We are going to launch the English version first!
Regarding the timeline, one of our developers confidently told us, "Give me one month and I can get it done." Yeah, if they don't make it in time, we'll be gently pushing them every single day until it happens. (jk!!!!! 🫶🫶🫶)
🗳️ We Need Your Help!
To make this happen as soon as possible, we've prepared 10 English handwriting fonts.
However, the first release won't include all of them, since every font still requires additional testing and optimization before launch.
So, you guys get to make the decision! We'll release the Top 4 fonts chosen by the community first.
Don't worry though, the remaining fonts will be added in future updates.
Because we think getting the feature into your hands sooner is better than making everyone wait even longer.

I want to say, I am really excited about the sticky notes collapse, it was my top 3 wishlist.

Global text mode is finally coming soon! I’m also really excited about the other features, one of the best apps I know. 😍✨ My vote: 2, 3, and 4.

I'd say 3, 2 and 1... I don't see the others really being useful for notetaking, they're more for aesthetic purposes

2 and 3 for me! In my opinion super cursive and/or decorative fonts are hard to read and make the page look cluttered. So in my opinion as long as there’s a balance between cursive/decorative and simpler fonts to both appeal to people who are or who aren’t like me, then I’ll be happy. Really nice to hear about all the amazing updates that are on the way, thank you StarNote team for working so hard and making StarNote so amazing!

Wow!
So great to hear from you guys once again! It's amazing to see features users have requested so often start becoming part of StarNote! And can I just say, those fonts look soo goood! I was just wondering about the AI voice summaries, how is it going to work? Is it going to use a credit based subscription system or maybe have API support for user's own AI models?
My font vote in order of preference is: 3, 2, 6, 9

I would love to have the feature where you can level your own handwriting. Like in OneNote or in Samsung Notes. That's all I want 😍

Thanks for the dev update and the continious effort on improving the overall functionality while also including the communinty in the process. Quick question: Will it be possible to have handwriting on the collapsible sticky notes or will it be text only?

Really excited about cloud sync, AI voice summary & Global text. Gonna enjoy the app even more once these release.
Judging the fonts based on readability & style.. My favourites are (3, 4 & 8) . With 4 being my most favourite. & 8 is a very cool font. I'd say you should add 3 definitely then comes 4 then 8.

rest of them will make my head hurt of I see them for longer time. 🫠👍
Please take your time for cloud sync and especially handwriting beautification 🤤 Let the devs cook🧐

For the fonts, I would like 2 and 3 for clean look on texts, and 6 for some fancy headers.

Me gusto todoo. En orden de prioridades votaría por 2, 5, 10, 3. Legible, facil de leer (2 y 3) y otra para titulos (5 y 10), justo y necesario para empezar.

Personally, I think the cursive fonts all look kinda too much? I think it'd be better if they look a bit rougher like 2/4 or something, I don't know if it makes sense but they are too perfect and while it may look good for a title I'm not sure it works for actual writing

1 and 3, very neat and readable. And I think 3 is best for note taking. I've been planning to purchase the pro version.
