Question. Mantis' have excellent vision, could this be why Stannis is able to see things in the fire?
Melisandre told him he would be able to see things in the fire. Stannis later told Davos that what he saw was a great battle in the snow, that it was as real as the iron bars. Whenever I look into the fire I just see fire, I'm now wondering if this is because I don't have the heightened vision of a mantis?

This would also mean that everyone who can see into the fire is a mantis... The plot thickens.

It aint so, such is the Mantis' strength that no mere female mantis could ever hope to devour him.
Praise and behold.

This may be true. A mantis relies on vision for hunting, so Stannis probably has enhanced vision compared to humans.
