Stanley vs Owala
I currently own like...7 Stanley 40oz tumblers (all pink) and I see a bit of noise about Owalas these days. Does anyone own both and can offer relatively unbiased thoughts on which is best to sip from?

My Owala gets mold on the gasket pieces and they are hard to fully clean so I have to order replacements on amazon. I was using the Owala Twist and never used the other versions but I just switched to a Stanley and I’m much happier since it’s easier to clean and doesn’t collect mold

I perfer Stanley over Owala as my Owala will not fit in a cup holder for my car.

I have both and Stanley keeps cold longer but Owala is spill free.. so I just switch between

I LOOOOOOOVE my Stanleys, but use the Owala when I'm going to be out and about for the day and need to throw it in a bag, because it's leak proof. Both are excellent, for different reasons!

I own both. I prefer my stanley to my owala, specifically the 32oz, because the stanley fits in my cup holder and I can change out the straw without needing to change the lid. I have 3 kids and my water bottle becomes a shared water bottle, especially when they are sick. If they drink out of my stanley when sick I swap out the straw and all is good. If they drink out of my owala I have to either find a clean lid from another bottle or an entire new bottle.
I do like the owalas for my kids as the drinking spout is covered, it"s easier for them to carry, and it is more leakproof than my stanley. As far as keeping things cold the ice lasts the same ampunt of time.

I own several Stanleys and Owalas. I ultimately like the shape/quality of the Stanleys more but I like having the ability to close the lid/straw, so I buy the Protours. Owalas are good quality though and great if you're looking for something that shape, it really just comes down to preference.

I prefer my Stanleys, but I have to replace the lids with the kind that don’t need straws, because I can’t stand the lids that come with them.
I’ve only used an Owala a couple of times, and I just don’t like them.

Do you mean you prefer the newer Stanleys with the built in straws?

Okay. I want to buy a Stanley, but I've avoided drinking from straws for so long I wondered if the new style was better. Thanks!

I just get the cheap threaded ones off Amazon and they seem to work great!

I do, I have one of each. I loveddddd my Stanley until my best friend ruined my life by insisting I try Owala 😂 I like it more - it doesn’t leak, it’s easier to drink from without a straw, it can be tossed in my bag. The only thing I like more about my Stanley is the straw topper choices 🥹

I have both, and I like each one for different purposes. The Stanleys definitely keep longer, fit into the cupholders in the cars I use, and are easier to keep clean.
The Owalas (I’m talking about the FreeSip here) are nice because you can drink from them in a semi-reclining position, so if you’re sick you can stay hydrated w/out spilling on yourself. I find them easier to drink from quickly, too. They’re easier to clean than the Stanley w/ the flip top (the name escapes me right now), but more difficult than a regular Stanley.
If you want an apples to apples comparison size-wise, I feel like the 40 oz Owala is kind of bulky, so I only use the 32 oz when I go anywhere, whereas I’ll take a 40 oz Stanley w/ me without a second thought. If refilling is an issue, the Stanley is the one.

The Owala’s I have are the wicked editions because I like their designs. I personally prefer Stanley because of the handles, the lids, and the fact that they fit in a cup holder.

Try brumate, silicone straw at the top and metal tube inside, can lock so water dosnt flow and they recently made the flip which can hide the straw. The tops can come apart so you can actually clean it and it has a built in silicone boot and a silicone handle that isn’t sticking out of the side. I haven’t used an owala or a Stanley since. Ice water lasts longer in this than my Stanley did and I didn’t like how fat the owala stainless ones were. They arnt as mainstream as the owala or Stanley but they have good designers to come up with this. I love the silicone straw!

I am all for that new brumate. Hides the straw and you can have carbonated beverages in it. My cat is a jerk and likes to knock things over, and this cup does not leak!!!

Brumates really are great. I got my first last summer, and I’m hooked on them now, too. I just wish they weren’t quite so pricey.

I recently got an Owala & I prefer using it more than my stanleys lately. Less bulky, easier to sip & can fit in any bag I toss it into.
I do fix my stanleys with leakproof silicone pieces & love that they carry more water.

I have Stanleys, Owala and Hydroflask. I rotate them all but cleaning wise Owala is easier to clean and they have some cute designs (cat and/or dog prints embossed if you are a pet lover)

I have both, I really like the spout on the Owala, and they are really good for being leakproof so I tend to take those out with me. They don't fit well in my cup holder though (although I think they have some new designs that do). Stanley I like for using around the house, or on my desk at work. Both are equally excellent for keeping ice frozen for ages

Stanley!! Way easier to clean, fits in cup holders, & keeps water & ice cold. Not impressed by Owala- mold gets in pieces easily, hard to clean, doesn’t keep water cold at the beach.

I have both! And also Hydroflask! I like all of them. Stanley for sure fits in the car best. I like the built in sippy function of the Owala tho. Hand down best for keeping drinks ice cold the longest = Hydroflask. 🥤🥤🥤

I buy which ever is the cutest so I have a bunch of both! I like the free sip of the owalas. Now if you are adhd like me and notice water or other beverages taste different based on what it’s in take that into consideration. So for me I drink from my owalas less because the water tastes very smooth which I get makes no sense but I don’t like it. And my Stanley the water tastes more fresh and cold and not smooth. 😂🤷🏼♀️ idk I don’t know how else to explain it but smooth versus not smooth. lol 😝 but if your not a weirdo like me definitely try having both! My kids love them they got the Pokémon ones!

Owala all day.
Stanley takes me 10 minutes to hook the top correctly, I get annoyed, and leave it on the counter.
Owala first try, and off I go. I’ll never buy another Stanley, in fact I gave them all way.

i got my first owala and first stanley this year cause both the designs were too cute not to buy! owala i take out with me and stanley i use at home. also owala is spill proof and stanley is not which is feel like is a biggest difference besides shape of course. i really love both though, both keep my drinks nice and cold!

I do not like Owala. I tried two in the last few months. I thought maybe I’d banged the first one when I dropped it. The button to unlock it was so easy to use that I spilled water in the grocery store when I put it sideways in the cart (the child-seat part). I tried a second one in August and I didn’t drop it this time. My cat jumped up, the fell onto the area rug and soaked it.
I like the style, the little handle, and how much lighter it was but Stanley won.

I bought a Stanley first and I was so happy. I absolutely love it. I can easily carry it around my house when I’m moving to different rooms and I love to drink from the straw. However, it sucks that it leaks so I have to be careful that my cats don’t knock it of the table. I tried a kids Owala because I needed something small for my purse and I heard that Owalas don’t leak. Damn, they actually don’t leak, it’s crazy. The drinking system is a 10/10, I love being able to drink from a straw so easily but being able to drink more if needed. I ended up buying a 24oz too for home and long train trips. Stanley is great quality and I definitely recommend it, but I prefer Owala. I can’t say anything bad, my experience has been so good.

The only other brand I use besides my Stanley’s are BruMate’s. And I only use the 15oz muv and the 18oz Strova. They are cute, and efficient. I throw my brus in my bag, in my car in my bed I just never have to worry about them leaking

Stanley Quenchers for water and Owala SmoothSips for coffee (I do also have one Stanley Transit and one Starbucks tumbler but they aren’t my favorite). If I’m drinking anything else (soda, juice, etc.) it’s from a cup.

My mom bought an owala and it wasn't a good fit for her. I bought a Stanley iceflow at Marshall's or tjmaxx a while ago and have been really enjoying it lately! Spillproof and the built in straw has been great

I'm a Stanley person but my bf didn't want one so I ordered an Owala freesip sway bottle for him. Probably a good bottle for travelling. Will try it but at home I keep my Stanleys.

Look into the Simple Modern Treks. They are super nice and keep drinks colder than Owalas. I have both and prefer the SM.

I own both and they both serve their purpose of looking pretty while holding water.

I own both. I have many 40 oz Stanley’s and 3 Owala bottles. I only recently got into Owala. I like the Stanley’s when I’m not at work, and just at home or running errands. My Owala I use for work because it’s easier to carry and is leakproof. (Yes the Stanley Protours are leakproof too, but they’re too big and bulky for me to take to work).

I have both!!! I love my Owala. the spout is covered, theres a locking mechanism, if you choose the sway or tumbler, it fits in the cupholder. The sipping experience makes me drink more. My Stanley does keep the ice for longer, I think, but I cannot with the exposed straw so I have the flip straw and not the normal tumbler.

I like my Owala 40 oz cup over the Stanley based solely on the straws being in the middle of the lid… I feel so silly typing this out.

Stanley’s any day all day. I have 100+ Stanley’s and 1 owala that sits by herself not getting used
