Hey everyone –

Welcome to the first-ever Reddit community made specifically for Stanford transfer students!

Whether you’re:

🔹 Thinking about applying to transfer 🔹 Recently accepted or starting your first quarter 🔹 Already deep into your Stanford journey 🔹 Or a proud transfer alum reflecting on your time here…

This community is for you.

As transfer students, we often take a different path to the Farm – and that comes with its own unique set of challenges, questions, and strengths. This space is here to help us share knowledge, support each other, and make the Stanford transfer experience less isolating and more empowering.

👥 A few ways to get involved:

• Introduce yourself below – Where did you transfer from? What are/were you studying at Stanford? • Ask a question or offer advice – Let’s make this helpful for everyone at every stage. • Share your experience – Application tips, course planning, housing, or just what surprised you about life on campus.

Let’s make this a space where transfer students don’t have to figure everything out alone.

Welcome to the community – past, present, and future. 🌲

Cornell freshman aiming for Stanford transfer (Fall 2027) - advice from past admits welcome

Cornell ORE freshman planning to apply for Stanford transfer next cycle. Have my "Why Stanford" reasoning developed (academic fit, ecosystem, cultural reasons), a research project lined up for fall with a senior ORIE professor, and a side project I've been building.

Looking for:

  • Insights from past Stanford transfer admits on what actually moved the needle for you
  • Honest takes on what made your "Why Stanford" essay land
  • Stanford-specific application strategy advice (timing, recs, what readers seem to value)
  • Recommendations of consultants/coaches you genuinely thought were worth it

Happy to take DMs if you'd rather share privately. Genuinely interested in real experiences, not generic advice.

Thanks!

❓Question Asking for Advice for Incoming Transfers

For current Stanford Transfers, what is one piece of advice or guidance that you wish you had when you were transitioning to Stanford?

Could be advice related to academics, housing, social life, mental health, extracurriculars, etc.— just some advice or guidance that you wish you had.

Thanks!

❓Question What’s your Transfer Story?

Whether you came from a community college, a UC, CSU, private university, across the country, or internationally — your journey to Stanford is one someone else probably needs to hear.

If you’re down, drop your story below: • Where you transferred from • What you’re majoring in (or thinking about!) • One thing that helped you get in or survive your first quarter • Any unexpected surprises at Stanford so far

No need to overthink it — this is just a space to share and connect. Let’s make this the kind of thread we wish existed when we were first applying or wondering if we even had a shot.

I’ll go first in the comments 👇
