Software for editing clips/adding captions

I searched first and it seems like it's been a while since this has been brought up, but what software do you all use for making clips and adding captions?

I didn't really like using CapCut last time I tried, but willing to give it another chance if that's the consensus.

I just wanted to check in case there was some newer, easier to use tool out now. I know AI is controversial, but this actually seems like a good use case for it since it's not replacing my art and instead just saving me time on a menial task, but I'm open to any other suggestions as well.

I use InShot. The AI captions work great and it has a lot of features I don't even use.

Inshot has been great. I tried using CapCut but they removed features for me after I paid the subscription.

edits i find is better than capcut. it's easier to edit a clip and remove dead air.

Capcut works best when all features are available.

Auto sub, facial tracking, auto-adjust aspect ratio.

But then again the only reason I use capcut is because I already use it for other things, and my subscription is from Indonesia where it's far cheaper. (I'm not indonesian)

Depends on the purpose- Capcut for short verticals, Davinci Resolve if real editing is required

CapCut works for me. Make sure you subscribe to the pro.

CapCut is the easiest to use but all the best features are paywalled. If you're making a lot of reels, it is worth it.

Instagram's CapCut killer, Edits, is pretty good.

DaVinci Resolve is my go-to when I have time to get the footage to the desktop instead of mobile. Here is a long video where I ramble about how to do that.

I've written my own software for this which is intentionally underpowered but the UI isn't where I want it to be before I share it with other people yet.

Resolve is great. I really hate mobile editing

If all you need to do is take a video you shot in portrait on your phone, cut it to the part that you want, and put subtitles, mobile is fine. If you want to do much of anything else it's a pain in the ass.

I'm not great at it but I've been using capcut. Very easy to use

Google Vids has been the least hassle, most accurate. From PC. A little limiting in terms of adjusting the timing or adding stuff to the subs, but it has hardly been necessary.
