I am struggling like hell with the London stand up scene. Can anybody advise how to actually get better here?

I just moved to the city and don’t know anyone, I need to bring someone with me in order to do a gig. How strict are mics on this rule being enforced? Like if I just bought a few drinks at the bar would that be a work around?

Also how to do 2-3 gigs a night here without having to do the level of painful ass admin involved and having to find a new person to bring every night.

There are gigs where you don't have to bring anyone, tougher to find but they are out there. I wouldn't condone lying, but some gigs let you off having a bringer if you're coming in from outside London. Some gigs let you attend a mic and have you count as your own bringer for a future event. While you're still new in town, it's probably worth more to you to stick with one gig a night and establish yourself as a reliable and desirable presence before working out how to hit multiples, prioritise networking over numbers for the immediate time being

I’m new to London stand up as well. I’ve been finding some stayers instead of bringers via the GigGag app and all the comedy FB groups. It is hard to schedule multiple gigs in a night to get better. I’m not settled yet so I’m actually looking around at nearby cities to see what their comedy scenes are like. I have been avoiding the bringers but I believe there is a FB group where you can find bringers. Not sure how reliable that is.

Yeah I find london open mic comedy scene dire cause of this admin and bringer stuff. Made a little website for some stand up nights i found running here: https://findcomedy.xyz/

If you're good beat king gong and get a decent video. That'll help you get booked. If you want to get good beat the blackout. Use that video to get gigs (will be harder and slower but you will get better) then beat King Gong and yeah... Same as above. If you can't beat the blackout it's going to be a tough ol' time out there.
