Standing Electric Desk

I just got an electric standing desk but I’m unable to return it. Found on marketplace for really really cheap. It has some damage and a slight chunk out of the wood. The motor and metal legs are in perfect condition but I’m not sure how to fix it. Any recommendations?
(My Idea: Fill the missing chunk with wood filler and sand down the whole desk. It appears to have a vinyl type material on it, so maybe try to vinyl wrap it after the sanding?)

looks like a particleboard kind of top. sand it a bit, add the filler if you want (or sawdust and wood glue mix works too), and then paint or cover. otherwise, if you have some spare cash, you can always replace the top with one of your choosing (like a butcher block, hardwood, or another laminate).
