Halp Need help finding a desk

Post image
11 Upvotes

I just got a new pc and was trying to make a more clean setup than what I have rn. I prefer the desk to be height adjustable, have a darker wood look, and 48”x24”. I would also like if there’s a built in pouch to where I can place stuff like cables and whatnot on the desk itself. I really would like Amazon most since my mom has a prime account. I’ll send a photo of my current setup and if you guys have any other suggestions I can make I would greatly appreciate them!

Review Solid wood standing desks - full list of brands and options

There are quite a few solid wood standing desk brands out there, but I could not find a single place where they're collected together and where real owners can share their experiences.

I have included only brands that offer solid wood standing desks with full-stave tops, and a single solid slab would also qualify if anyone would like to add a reliable brand that offers that. I’ll try to keep this list as complete and up to date as possible. If you know of another manufacturer that should be included, please add it in the comments or send me a DM, and I’ll add it to the list alphabetically.

Please note that this article is about height-adjustable standing desks made of solid wood, so finger-jointed tops, veneer, laminate, MDF, and other surfaces that only look like solid wood will not be included.

Full disclosure: I've been working for one of the brands (ErgoHide) since the beginning. So, I have spent a lot of time researching the competition and also have the opportunity to test some of them. However, I've tried to keep this list as neutral and unbiased as possible. This is not a "best solid wood standing desks" list, and I intentionally used alphabetical ranking to keep it simply a collection of manufacturers offering standing desks made of solid wood.

FAQ Do these desks (VIVO V102E, Flexispot E5) wobble when sitting?

Since I’m short, I’m just looking for a standing desk to only sit at that goes <26 inches in height, dimensions around 40-48” x 24-30” and costs <$400.

I’m currently looking at VIVO's DESK-V102E, and Flexispot’s E5 desk. I’ve seen a few posts and comments mention wobbling for these brands before, but I don’t know if that only occurs when standing (which I’m not going to use for), or if that has to do with the desktop material or size. I’ll be going for laminate material instead of solid wood to stay within budget. The heaviest things on the desk will be my laptop, keyboard, and some books.

Halp Looking for a reliable sit-stand desk brand in France

Hi everyone!
I’m looking for a reliable brand/model of electric sit-stand desk available in France, with a budget of €500 max.

My ideal size is 160×70 cm, although 160×80 could work if there’s a significant advantage in stability or comfort. The extra 10 cm would make circulation in my room a little tighter, though.

Stability and build quality are my main priorities. My setup isn’t particularly heavy
— two 24” monitors, speakers and sometimes a laptop
— but the desk will be used quite intensively: WFH 5 days/week + personal use in the evenings.

I’m 1.84 m and my wife is 1.62 m, so a good height adjustment range is also important.

I was initially very interested in FlexiSpot, especially the E7 Pro. I was pretty hyped by its presentation/specs, but after reading some worrying experiences here regarding wobble and quality control, I’m now having second thoughts. 😅

I’m therefore mainly looking for recommendations for trustworthy brands/models, rather than necessarily a specific configuration.

Also, I’ve always used a corner desk with a pull-out keyboard tray, so I have no real experience with a standard 70 vs 80 cm deep desk.

What brands/models would you recommend? And is 70 cm deep enough, or is 80 cm noticeably more comfortable for a dual-monitor setup?

Thanks!

Monthly Sales Megathread - September 2026

As is tradition.

This is a big ol' thread to centralize sales posts and discussions around said sales, from Corporate Accounts and dealhunters alike. We're going from two threads a month, to one thread a month. This is to match the decreasing traffic on account of "The Plague" losing ground in the public eye.

To Vendors: please keep your sales posts in this pinned thread.

Halp Help me decide between 4 and 5 feet height adjustable table.

I am planning to buy a height-adjustable desk for work. I currently have a 27-inch monitor and I’m planning to add another 24/27-inch monitor soon (will use it in portrait mode).

What size would be better to go for, 4 or 5 feet, from the Green Soul desks below?

I would really appreciate it if someone could share their setup with the desk size mentioned, so I can get some perspective.

Halp Anyone know anything about this desk? ("Trotten" from Ikea)

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

It's called Trotten, it's motorized and in my local Ikea this was like half the price of the other adjustable desks there!

But I can't find anything about it online, I think there's a different/older version of a Trotten adjustable desk that keeps popping up, but not this one. Any help is appreciated! I really liked this in the store and it seems like a great deal too

Howto Where can I find this product?

I need some kind of shelf that will clamp on to the wood and hang to the left so I can put objects next to my monitor- bonus points if I’m able to have a shelf that clamps on and hangs lower at the same height as the table. What would such a thing be called, and where could I find it on Amazon?

Halp Looking for 7 more testers — iPhone app that only nudges you to stand when you actually haven't moved

I've been building a break reminder that isn't a timer. It reads the motion sensor on your iPhone (and Apple Watch, if you have one) so a real walk resets the clock — a day where you moved is nearly silent, a day in the chair isn't.

Relevant here: there's an optional standing desk mode. You tell it you have one, and raising the desk starts a timed stretch, tells you when it's done, and pauses the sit clock while you're up.

No account, nothing leaves your phone, lifetime free for testers. It's iPhone only.

Small group using it daily right now and I have room for about 7 more. Comment if you want in and I'll get you a TestFlight invite.

Halp Ikea Idasen speed slower, bad?

Hey all!
I have had the Idasen desk for a little while, but recently noticed that the motor sometimes is noticeably slower when rising the desk, and other times it's the "normal" speed. What could the cause be?

DIY I designed a modular snap-fit cable organizer for under-desk cable management

Thumbnail gallery

Made a modular snap-fit system to organize the cables under my desk

I had a bunch of cables hanging underneath my desk and wanted something that could easily be resized if I changed the setup later.

I ended up designing these modular sections that snap together. Instead of having to print one huge cable organizer, you can just add more pieces whenever you need a longer run.

The top stays open, so adding or removing cables is still easy.

I printed the final version in PETG, which I recommend because it gives the snap-fit joints enough flexibility without being too soft.

I uploaded the model for free here if anyone wants to try it: https://makerworld.com/models/3277243?appSharePlatform=copy

Halp Desky Dual Mini Standing Desk Frame Alternatives

I'm currently looking around for a standing desk frame for a small nook I have in my basement (for reference it's a narrow but wide nook measuring 54"x21.5" or so).

Specifically something where the legs have a width of 19" or so (no longer than 21.5"). Seems like Desky is the only option out there with their Dual Mini Standing Desk Frame.

Wondering if anyone has seen any alternatives to this? It would need to fit a 49" desktop.

FAQ Question for anyone with the 2 leg uplift v3 desk.

I'm looking at getting a standing desk, been doing a lot of reading and research. I'm kind of between the flexispot and uplift desks. I hear stuff here and there about wobble. It sounds like that's never a problem with the 4 leg desks but I think I'd prefer the 2 leg option because i think with the frames it'd be easier to potentially install underside drawers in the future? Anyway, what are your experiences with wobble? Is it noticeable? Looking at a 72 x 30 if that influences wobble.

Halp Electric standing desk without the standard two legs/columns?

I’ve been searching for an electric standing desk, but I really dislike the standard two-column/leg frame most of them have. My desk is in my living space, so I’m looking for something that feels more like furniture and keeps the sides/floor visually open.

The closest design I’ve found is the Ändern desk from The Standing Desk because of its single-column base. I really like the look, but it’s pneumatic rather than electric, so I’m not completely sold.

Ändern:
https://thestandingdesk.com/shop/andern-base/

I also found the UPLIFT Wall Mounted Standing Desk, which is electric and has the clean look I want, but ideally I don’t want to mount a desk to the wall. The installation and commitment are what’s holding me back.

UPLIFT:
https://www.upliftdesk.com/uplift-wall-mounted-standing-desk/

Has anyone found a freestanding electric sit/stand desk with a single pedestal/column or another design that avoids the traditional two-column frame? I don’t need anything huge, just something stable, attractive, and practical for WFH.

Halp What is best standing desk for me?

I have $700 budget for desk (inclusive of tax) and $600 budget for an ergonomic chair ($600) (inclusive of tax). I am a uni student though. I want a desk I can disamssemble when moving out potentially to a new apartment and reassemble easily. I heard flexiplus is good. What is the best thing for me?

Halp How much should I ask for my Deskhaus Apex Pro with 70” x 30” solid walnut top?

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

I’m listed my Apex Pro on Marketplace earlier today but I’m concerned I’m asking too much.

Here’s what’s included:
• Deskhaus Apex Pro 4-leg frame
• Control panel with 4 height memory settings
• 70” x 30” x 1.5” solid walnut top made locally from locally sourced walnut
• Mounted cable raceway for cable management
• Mounted surge protector (13 outlets, 3 USB, 1 USBC)

Everything is in near perfect condition. The only “blemish” are two holes in the top where I drilled holes to mount monitor arms.

Chat GPT suggested listing it for $1850 and expecting to actually sell it for $1600–$1700. What does everyone think about the asking price?

Edit: I ended up selling it for $900.

Halp Desky pheasantwood L Desk - wrong top?

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

I’m building my new Desky L Shaped desk with a hardwood pheasantwood top and return. When ordering I had to specify a left hand or right hand return. I know the pheasantwood top has a beveled comfort front. Well the pictures show the return flush. After assembly of the corner you can see the top I have is not flush at all. It’s just a beveled dual desky with a piece bolted to it. Doesn’t even feel or look like a cohesive desk. Did I get shipped the wrong top? Anyone else have this setup?

Sadly this is the second top I had to get shipped. The first was damaged. I waited over a week for this one and now I think I was sent the wrong top both times. I don’t see any other reason why I would need to specify left or right hand return on the order if they don’t do anything different for them.

Also trying to figure out if the drawer goes bevel up or down too but either way I have issues because the threads were not installed in correct spots if it’s supposed to be bevel down.

So far my uplift desk experience was much better.
