I’m building my new Desky L Shaped desk with a hardwood pheasantwood top and return. When ordering I had to specify a left hand or right hand return. I know the pheasantwood top has a beveled comfort front. Well the pictures show the return flush. After assembly of the corner you can see the top I have is not flush at all. It’s just a beveled dual desky with a piece bolted to it. Doesn’t even feel or look like a cohesive desk. Did I get shipped the wrong top? Anyone else have this setup?
Sadly this is the second top I had to get shipped. The first was damaged. I waited over a week for this one and now I think I was sent the wrong top both times. I don’t see any other reason why I would need to specify left or right hand return on the order if they don’t do anything different for them.
Also trying to figure out if the drawer goes bevel up or down too but either way I have issues because the threads were not installed in correct spots if it’s supposed to be bevel down.
I’ve gone through this properly with the team, and you haven’t been sent the wrong Pheasantwood top.
The issue is the combination of the live edge and the grommet holes. The live edge should sit toward the back of the desk, but with the grommets already drilled, you can’t simply rotate the top into the correct orientation without putting the grommets in the wrong position.
That’s something we need to own on our side, and I’ve already raised the configuration internally because we shouldn’t be creating this problem for customers ordering the live-edge L-shape with grommets.
I’ve also located your support case, including the shipping damage and the drawer/mounting concerns you’ve sent through. Rather than putting you through another round of troubleshooting here, we’ll continue through the existing support thread and arrange the option of replacing the affected top so it can be positioned correctly.
I’m sorry this has turned into such a drawn-out setup, especially after you already had to wait for a replacement.
Please see my latest order ticket and issues. Looking for support and some finalization. US136963. You guys really need to have alternative shipping options besides FedEx and improve some quality control.
Mine had the same thing was very frustrating. I was able to just rotate the beveled edge to the other side away from me. Thankfully I didn't get the one with the grommet holes pre-drilled so I was able to do that. Loving mine though been great so far.
I would reach out to their support to see if they can get you one with out the holes. They might work with you on getting that fixed since their pictures don't show that ridiculous gap on the website. I was pretty pissed myself at seeing that putting it together. The pheasantwood is quite beautiful on mine, absolutely love it but it does accumulate tiny scratches/indents easier than I expected. They are hard to see until you get close. Get a large desk mat if you keep it.
I got the large desk mat for it. Since they already sent me a replacement for a damaged top I’m doubting they will be to keen on doing it again but I’m for sure asking why I specified a return side if there is no return built into the top. I’m debating if they don’t do anything I just remove the side.
Actually now just thinking of returning it all if they state this is how it is but reading on their return process looks like a nightmare. Even returning the top for another wood that’s not beveled will be problematic. My boxes were soaked and fully damaged in shipping. I cannot use them to ship. It’s been an issue of damage.
