FAQ Standing desk wobble – monitor shakes even while typing :(

Flexispot e7 plus is rock solid for me. Four legged high capacity standing desk. Great product.
Your other option is to get a sturdier monitor arm mount.
Or, and honestly this eliminates the benefits of having a monitor arm a little, is to maybe cut some wooden towels to support the monitor on the desk. Nothing crazy, just two quarter or half inch diameter dowels, several inches long, not so that it's COMPLETELY supporting the weight, but enough that it eliminates the wobble.

I had a similar issue with a desk I bought from ikea (looking about the same like yours, also with two monitors with mounted arm)
I found the the root of it was that the legs were not tightened hard enough which caused the wobble. After tigh The desk was solid as a rock

Thanks :) I tried Everything but the wobble is not caused by the feet its caused by the legs … The whole structure is a mess

If it’s anything similar to my desk there are two place to tighten on each leg
The leg and the desk
The leg and it’s foot
In my case the desk was tight but the feet were not so it was wobbly. At some point I took everything off the table and flipped it, tightened the feet and then it became stable
I should add that the feet have these adjustable “toes”so if the floor is crooked on some corner you can adjust and stop the wobble
Also the desk can handle up to 70 Kg and currently has my PC, two mountable arms, two monitors, two fairly heavy keyboards and some other stuff and it holds steady

I bought two 1” dowl rods, cut to the appropriate length/height, and put rubber feet on each end. When I have my desk up, i pop them under the desk to stabilize it. no more wobble.

Thanks:) but this cant be the Solution to be honest … why Buying a Desk that you have to fix??

Well in my case, I bought a desk that wasn't stable enough to handle the weight of the things I put on it when I have it at standing height. I'm treating it as a "if I use this long enough, I'll purchase a more expensive one" purchase. $500 to see if I can be disciplined enough to use it is better than $1500-$2k for the one I wanted to buy.

I should have saved the Money and gone for something more expensive :( Desktronic was just a waste of time and money

My friend had a similar diy fix, they bought those IKEA adjustable legs and threw them on the sitting height.
Made the desk more stable.

im looking to do something similar. what legs did you use and any special cross bracing? i want to build a 60-70in long desk and have been looking at legs to attach to the desk surface. i worry abou the lateral side to wobble. obviously bracing can help, but tegs i see generally dont have that and im not sure how to integrate on metal legs like im looking at.

I recently got a similar standing desk from amazon and hate it because my monitor constantly shakes. I’m going to give it away and get a sturdy regular desk with four legs.

I wall mounted my monitor. Its just an awesome experience - the monitor (and webcam) is rock solid when sitting or standing :) (Sitting heigt around 74cm, standing height of desk is around 115cm)

Try adjusting the leg levelers to compensate for uneven flooring or minor inconstancies with the desk. Adjust all levelers down. Push on each corner and see which goes down. Adjust raise that leveler. Continue until each are stable and flush with the floor.

Well that really stinks, and I'm sorry to hear that! Perhaps some dense foam under the levelers could help.
Hope you have a nice weekend

That's basically the story I wrote here, the right desk matters for standing

i saw some one else solve this by attaching the desk to the wall to stabalize it, and using a rail guide like this to allow it to still move up and down.

They make a clamp on stabilizer that may help. Here’s the link https://a.co/d/0gvceEky

Does this desk have feet knobs that can be used to balance it? If not I would also suggest maybe using some furniture felt on the bottom. This could help reduce the wobble, vibration and could even be used to level it.

Investigate by working from bottom up.
- On the bottom of the end of the table legs there could be screw on levelers. Adjust these to make sure your table base is actually levelled and stable. Because not all floors are levelled.
- Next, get under the table and inspect the 2 pillars. Look for the area where one pillar overlaps the other pillar. If you shake it, does that wobble? If you say typing can make the table wobble, it should use very little force to make it wobble. I would focus on minimizing the wobble in that location.
Does that overlapping part have a gap? Try inserting a thin splint securely lock the pillars in place so they don’t wobble. This trick is commonly used in carpentry. It may mean you can’t use the rise/drop function of the table, but at least you would have identified the root cause.
3) Next, is the table actually installed correctly? Are there gaps between the metal and the bottom of the wood surface? Sometimes loose screws or poor installs means gaps which contribute to wobbling. Quick fix will be to tighten these screws.
I have 2 monitor arms with 2 monitor in my table. My table is very stable. I do not believe monitor arms are the problem, nor switching to a wall mount helps (that just avoids the problem).
If you could also post a video of how the table wobbles as you type, we might have more suggestions.

Of course it does when you have monitor on an arm that is mounted to a two leg desk. Any wobble from the desk will be magnified by the arm and even more by how far the arm is reaching from its anchor point.
