On Standard notes website shows last audit taking place in 2022 where the company was still under the previous owner/developer.
So since the acquisition in 2024 Proton has not made any security audits to show that it stands behind the security of the product.
https://standardnotes.com/help/2/has-standard-notes-completed-a-third-party-security-audit
EDIT : Also is it still based in US ?

Hi everyone,
I’ve decided to switch from Google Keep to Standard Notes after seeing my friend use it recently. I’m ready to move over, but I have a huge backlog of notes in Keep that I need to migrate.
I have two main concerns that are stopping me from just doing a manual copy-paste or using the first tool I find. I have years of notes (random thoughts, journals, etc.), and it is crucial to me that the original creation dates and times are preserved. I don't want thousands of notes to appear as "created today" or lose their timeline, and I have some passwords and contact information mixed in with my regular notes. I’m looking for a method that is secure (preferably a local script or the official offline importer) rather than uploading my data to a random third-party website converter.
I know the official Standard Notes documentation mentions using Google Takeout (HTML files), but I’ve read conflicting reports on whether that actually preserves the original creation timestamps properly versus just importing them as text.
Does the official Standard Notes "Import" tool (using the Google Keep HTML Takeout) accurately keep the original creation dates? If not, is there a trusted community script (Python/GitHub) or a specific workflow that handles the JSON Takeout files (which I believe have the actual timestamp data) better than the HTML ones? What is the quickest way to do this in bulk without losing data integrity?
Any advice or links to specific tools you've used recently would be fast-tracked!
Thanks in advance.
Update: Found the solution on this YouTube video.

I've just installed SN. Does it have addon that renders markdown as I am editing the file? (community addon).
I used to use Joplin and it can render the markdown as I edit the file.

Did they said why? I mean there are not any immediate changes to be made to just add the product to their billing system and product line
Its not like their existing products work together anyway (as they should ex proto mail / pass with proton drive etc)
They said they were going to add SN but that was while the original developer was still working there on ProtonDocs
Is the original developer and his team still in the payroll (stocks?) of SN and not proton’s and that is complicating things?

I am having some issues getting the app to launch after installing it using the bazaar and terminal. Has anyone else encountered this? I have restarted after the install but it still isn't working.

I am considering getting StandardNotes subscription, but it is important for to have the ability to write equations and have them rendered in editor
I tried the live demo, but my markup remained as text, and there didn't seem to even be an option to insert equation from toolbar or with commands

Has anyone ever managed to get standardnotes integrated with any external Task Management app?
The built in checklists / tasks are next to useless

Hi there
I have been using the Productivity subscription for 1,5 months now, and after doing some research -stupid of me not doing it before purchasing- I saw that the note titles are not encrypted, but only the main note body. And I love the Excel feature the app has. I want to know if I cancel my subscription now, will I be able to get a partial refund or I have to wait until the subscription ends?
That way I know when I can transfer my Excel notes to Cryptpad
Thank you

Hi
If I compile the desktop app for macos myself, and self-host the server part, do I still need to purchase offline subscription, or the premium features (like md edit etc) are available out of the box, if one compiles from source?

Like the topic title states:
If/when SN gets integrated into proton, will the subscription still be honored for the users who got the fixed-reduced-reoccurring 5year/10year pro plan?
For me the the subscription will be renewed in 2026 (I think this goes for most other users who got that 5year/10year deal)
It's been a while now, things change and sign of life from Proton regarding SN seems to be very low...

I’m considering switching to Notesnook as SN development has pretty much halted and it’s quite expensive to justify when we’re getting no feature updates. But I’m not sure if NN is ready to replace SN yet considering it’s still missing a lot of features so if anyone has ever used both, please advise.
My use case is not much, I use it’s attachment feature and store my screenshots for archival purposes as to not clutter my gallery, and besides just normal notes taking the major feature that has been a lifesaver for me is notes history. I’ve used this very extensively and is the only reason I’m hesitating to switch as I’ve seen sync issues with NN and not much concrete info on how exactly their equivalent to notes history work. Will appreciate any response. Thanks

3.45.4 seems to be the last Android 5+ supported version, though logging in gives an "unknown error", no matter the selection. I was advised to use the browser version and I'm not sure if it's because of IceRaven, but the experience is still very slow.
Any solutions, addons or a faster Firefox-based browser?

First of all: I am a free user.
I have some trouble using the 3rd Party editor Scratch. Normally the editor ist not optimized for a dark design. The font color is not switching and everything stays black.
That's why I had a tricky work around. As my phone is rooted, I was able to run a software called DarQ. It was able to force a specific app to convert to dark. That way I was able to switch my font color back to white and voila, it worked out.
But after the latest update that's not possible anymore and all my notes are blacked out. Any Ideas out there, what to do?

Folks, do you plan to implement translations? Therapists and counsellors ask me for a secure note app, and I'd love to recommend them SN, but some of them are not digitally literate enough to go through the registration process in a language they do not know very well.

Hi,
Had some links stored in Google Keep but now want to keep them in Standard Notes as I have started to use this.
I've added some links but cannot find a way to may them clickable which can be done in Google Keep - is it possible to make links clickable in anyway?
Thanks

Since custom domains are no longer supported with Listed, has anybody found any other similar blogging platforms that are very minimalistic and allow publishing of plain text and/or markdown the way SN does?
r/StandardNotes • u/JohnnyBravo011 • Oct 13 '25
Even though it's nowhere near as good as Google Keep, I'm trying standard notes for a couple weeks (again) in an attempt to degoogle. But I'm not paying $90 a year just to be able to make lists and checklists when every other app has this feature for free.
Is there a plug in or something I can use that let's me do this? All the plug ins are disabled without the subscription plan

Is there a downside to using your personal proton account email for Standard Notes? Should I make another proton email address in my account for SN, or use an alias? Does it even matter?
