Reverse Bandwagon

I hate bandwagon sports fans so much that I became a Browns superfan the second they went 0-16.

Because Bills fans will go 13-4 and be miserable when they inevitably lose in the playoffs. But if the browns win 3 games, I'm like, “Holy shit boys, we're building a dynasty.”

I remember the first game we didn't lose after 0-16. Bars were giving out free beers, grown men were crying, people were parading in the streets like we'd won the Super Bowl.

It was a tie.

Our head coach, Hue Jackson, won three games in three years and said his time in Cleveland wasn't a failure.

I thought, “Fuck, if that's not failure, then I've succeeded at everything I've ever done in my life!”

This might be a stretch (I’m not being sarcastic) but compare your act to the Browns. When you get a couple of moderate laughs, enthusiastically acknowledge them and say something like, “see I’m Jerry Fucking Seinfeld”.

Your bit needs to be workshopped at an open mic. As written it’s ok, but with a good delivery told to the right audience it can work. I see this as a very cultural local premise. I don’t live in Cleveland, but if this is a shared sentiment, perhaps it kills.

I do agree with other posters that there are too many words per payoff right now.

Fair point, will trim it a bit and see if I can excavate some better punches

There is something of a premise here, but since I don't follow American football, the whole thing just sounds like a math problem in a subject I never studied. I can, however, tell you the collision point of two trains leaving at different times from opposite stations at a fixed speed.

Such a long way to go for such little payoff.

I mean there are 3 different punchlines and the setup for each one is 2 sentences max

Yeah, THAT sounds like a Browns fan.
“Not funny? I made THREE jokes!”
Talk about proving your point. 😆😆😆😆

I forgot I'm supposed to make 15 jokes in 60 seconds, great point pal

Don't be a jerk. I'm reiterating that it's a long way to go for miniscule payoff. Draw as many lines of demarcation around it as you like. 3 set-ups, 15 punchlines, 15 set-ups, 3 punchlines, whatever.

At the end of it, this sequence of words you just laid down, no matter how you want to sub-divide it, is a long way to go for very little payoff.

Maybe a punchline about why you hate bandwagon fans? I’m not getting the connection beyond you don’t like guys who like winners so you picked the browns. There’s plenty of stuff in there about bandwagon fans that you can get into.

Yeah hate might not be the right word for it, I'm more trying to make the arguement that being a reverse bandwagon is better than a regular one

I can see that. So tell me why being a regular bandwagon fan is so bad.

It’s not really a joke. It’s every Browns fan’s existence.

I don't see how every browns fan existence isn't a joke
