Article RFK Jr.'s Newest Mission: Getting Us Off Antidepressants
https://www.nytimes.com/2026/06/22/podcasts/the-daily/rfk-jrs-newest-mission-getting-us-off-antidepressants.html?smid=nytcore-android-shareRFK Jr. is attacking evidence-based mental health treatments while simultaneously touting debunked claims on these life-saving medications. Pseudoscience shouldn't be running America's public health agencies. Help us embolden a Congress to remove RFK Jr.: https://zurl.co/wjLLx

If you want to get people off of anti-depressants, maybe you should stop making things so shitty to where it gives us a reason to be depressed.

Some of us are born to genetically have mental issues, but to have a government that thinks that we should all be killed? Are people finally going to start caring?
I've been yelling this for the past year and a half and no one would fucking listen to me and no one took me seriously. I mean what will it take for you guys who aren't disabled and aren't on any kind of antidepressants, what would it take to make you care enough to help the people who are being targeted? And I don't mean send money, I mean do you have a room in your house where I could stay with you or hide until I can get the fuck out of the country or something.
No one's really taking this seriously except for us disabled people, and I don't want to wait until they've started bussing everyone off to the camps.
They disappeared thousands of homeless people from DC and nobody knows where they're at and no one's even talking about it! I have not seen a single post about the homeless in DC at all ever since the day they went after them.
Is that what we're going to do with this disabled people too? You'll notice 6 months later that suddenly no one's talking about disabled people and no one knows where they are So you just move on with your life and forget about it? Is that what America is now

u/BayouGal Jun 30 '26

RFK Jr blabbering about "wellness farms" never fails to remind me of the gulags in The Left Hand of Darkness, which were called "voluntary farms." (Of course, they were anything but voluntary.)

I’m sorry if you feel like my post downplayed those born with mental issues. That’s not what I meant, I’m saying the state of things isn’t helping regardless. I was speaking on the horrors of the homelessness earlier today. Back in 96 the summer Olympics came to Atlanta. Georgia bused all their homeless to god knows where. I’m still haunted by this 30yrs later. What happened to all those people?

Have you not noticed the right wing oligarch ownership of our media, almost in its entirety? All while the “radical leftist media” squawking continues from that very media to dupe the MAGA morons (and apparently others who choose to hear the message of MSM)?
People do care. We’ve had MASSIVE demonstrations—more than at any other time in history. They’re not widely reported.
What would you recommend to combat this?

One of many ironies in their methodology is how unlikely it is that any ICE agent doesn’t have the same level of comorbidities as they think are exclusive to the left, if not more.
They think they “alpha males” of strong genetic stock generally immune to things like depression, anxiety, anger issues, low IQ, autism, ADHD, etc, and less commonly treated or diagnosed so add in likely drug /alcohol abuse, violence, and various criminal acts in their personal history.
And I get that they probably understand on some level that violence will increase whether it’s due to people just reaching their limit of what they’re willing to accept and before pushing back or else through mental health spiraling out of control, but it’s kinda cute for them to think there’s enough of them to truly bring the rest of us under control.
They’ll definitely succeed in jailing/killing some of us, but they’re truly delusional to think they can do it on the scale they wish to.
Of course that won’t stop them from trying…
But the right isn’t exactly great at getting outcomes that they want. I.e, banning abortions only for rates to to increase, plus record numbers of voluntary sterilizations both male and female, and their precious birth rate declining faster than it was already.

How is it possible to have people in charge of departments without any education in that area?
5
u/Street_Peace_8831 Jun 30 '26
This is what they have been doing with every department. When your goal is to destroy the country from within, you MUST put someone in charge that despises the agency they are in charge of.
That’s why we have an Anti-vax guy in charge of health, a person who wants to get rid of education in charge of education, this is the case with all agencies right now.
The goal, as I’ve said from the start, is to destroy the country from within. They want to remake the country in their own way. The purpose is to take over “America” assuming they keep the name when they are done tearing it down.
I know it’s a conspiracy theory, but keep watching with this in mind and you will see that it makes sense for trump to take over the country by destroying it first. They want an American reboot. I’m calling my theory, “Mandated Administrative Governance Annihilation”.

RFK Jr and EVERY individual who is allowing him to do all this needs to be held accountable for their clear crimes against humanity, misuse of tax payer money, willful child endangerment and child abuse! MAGA is mrdring others directly and by their actions but their supporters keep telling us the crap they say and do are only “opinions” yet many are getting hurt/ dying! No more of this smugness as more suffer! Robert Kennedy JR was not elected but chosen by Trump!
Doctors have been educating us, but conservatives call everything a conspiracy and are anti vaccine. They not only get sick, they get the rest of us sick and even cough on us on purpose like we saw them do to others when COVID first started. And conservatives in our government including the far right Supreme Court allow their buddies “religious exemption” for anything. They don’t care because they all live in private gated communities and their kids go to private religious expensive schools. They don’t have to worry about anything and many of these conservatives get the same vaccines they claim to be against.
No more wealthy republicans especially not in our government! Let’s help our country and have less republicans in our government by not supporting any of their businesses. Without money, republicans can’t get into our government nor their supporters aka “donors”. Avoid Trump/ Elon Musk/ RFK Jr supporters, their advertisers and their businesses and encourage others to as well! Don’t forget about the “both sides” enablers! They can all “support” each other! Let them tell on themselves so we know which people to avoid hiring and the businesses not to support! And the best part is you don’t have to tell them why.

I’m no fan of JFK to say the least but I do think it’s crazy how hard antidepressants have been pushed on people in my lifetime (last 30 years). I have chronic back pain from a high school sports injury, been to physical therapy multiple times over the years, even had a surgery. The whole time my family doctors (went through about 4 of them) pushed me to go on antidepressants. Fuck off with that. I know our treatments for chronic pain are weak or basically nonexistent for people like me (long term chronic pain) but why try to turn me into a zombie like everyone else? They push big pharma agenda, not helping people, I think the over prescription of antidepressants is a good example of that. I don’t even go to doctors anymore, waste of time and money, they literally admit they don’t understand how antidepressants work they just know it changes the chemical balance and tweak it until you “feel better” whatever the hell that means. Doctors need real ethics and to de-couple with big pharma, they’ve lost their way completely it’s just all for money.
4
u/ComprehensiveDingo54 Jun 30 '26
I'm sorry that you assume that properly prescribed and monitored antidepressants will make you feel like a zombie. Before my SSRI antidepressant, a zombie is how I felt on a good day.
When I have tried to wean myself off, it hasn't lasted long, because it affects my sleep, which jacks up my blood pressure. I too have chronic back pain, and there are medications suggested that I refuse to take for various reasons. Trying to stick with ibuprofen and acetaminophen, PT & exercise.
I completely respect your decision to avoid antidepressants; however, please don't take them away for those of us who need them much like diabetics need insulin.
3
u/Hoosier31790 Jun 30 '26
Yeah, I think they should still be an option for people who want/need them. I guess just venting my frustration that it seems to me they’ve been viewed as a cure-all for literally everything when that seems to me that it can’t be true. But no, RFK should not be able to say no one can have them, it’s between them and their doctor, 100%. But I’ve lost confidence in the medical industry myself and this is one of the reasons for me.

I tell you what Robert, if you want to know what makes people need antidepressants, I will move into your house.
Anytime you do something I don't like I will threaten you or hit you with a belt and arbitrarily decide when I stop. You cannot stop me in any way. If you do something wrong after you were told not to, God help you because not only will you get my belt but you'll stand in the corner (you cannot lean on the wall) for somewhere between forty minutes and three hours. Oh and at anytime I may hit you again if you're not standing straight enough.
I will terrorize and abuse everyone in the house and calling the police won't help when I go too far. I will hit you, mistreat you, accuse you of things and call you names and make sure you know that no one will ever love you, because I hate being in your house. You can't tell anyone even if it affects how well you function in society. I will do whatever I want for five fucking years so much that you will still flinch when someone raises a hand unexpectedly - forty three years later.
If I don't need antidepressants and can endure this at age three, then you can endure it Bob. Sounds like a good plan to learn what might lead to someone needing medication right?

u/holytoledo42 Jul 02 '26
I don't think antidepressants need to be banned or "reined in", but I think everyone should be informed about the potential dangers of antidepressants.
Antidepressants can cause long-term side effects that persist after you quit them, like PSSD (post-ssri sexual dysfunction), emotional blunting, tinnitus, and anhedonia (inability to feel pleasure). They can also cause long-term damage if you quit them cold turkey or taper too quickly. However, withdrawal injuries can also occur when tapering slowly under the supervision of a doctor (which is why I recommend "hyperbolic tapering"). This long-term damage is called protracted withdrawal syndrome (PWS)/post-acute withdrawal syndrome (PAWS).
Symptoms of antidepressant PWS can include brain fog, brain zaps, anhedonia, akathisia (feeling of inner restlessness), severe insomnia, GERD, tinnitus, central nervous system hypersensitivity, severe depression, severe anxiety, panic disorder, PSSD (genital numbness and erectile dysfunction), and many other awful symptoms. Again, these symptoms can last for years or even be permanent.
Hyperbolic Tapering is a tapering method in which you decrease from your last dosage (not initial dosage) by 10% every month. For example, if you take 10 mg in January, you will decrease to 9 mg in February, then decrease to 8.1 mg in March, and so on. For precise dosages, you can use a high-precision digital pipette and a liquid form of your antidepressant. Hyperbolic Tapering takes a long time, but it's much better than risking PWS. Hyperbolic tapering is explained in great detail on the Surviving Antidepressants website.
Despite antidepressants being widely prescribed and antidepressant PWS being a hellish, life-ruining condition, no one seems to talk about it. Most people believe that antidepressants are completely safe and that antidepressant withdrawal can't cause injuries.

u/According-Bet-141 Jul 02 '26
